My name is Heather, I'm 29 and from Dublin.
I live with my boyfriend and our dog, Ben. We have a spare room to rent in Dublin 8. The room is in a beautiful cottage on a quiet street, that is walking distance to every tourist attraction in Dublin city and minutes away from the lively Camden Street area. (Stephen's Green - 15mins) (Christchurch Cathedral - 10mins)
The room is in the loft up a spiral staircase (pictured), and is warm with a comfy double bed and lots of storage. All bed lining & towels will be provided at no extra cost (on request). Wifi comes with the room price & there are no cleaning fees.
Guests will have full access to the kitchen and are encouraged to treat the cottage as a home away from home.
The cottage itself is brightly decorated with a real working fire and an outdoor courtyard, perfect for a glass of wine in the evenings or for smokers, as I don't allow smoking in the cottage itself.
The local area is jam packed with gorgeous cafes, restaurants and lively pubs. There is also plenty of public transport available, not that it's needed as everything is walking distance.
When you arrive you will be greeted by myself or Doug and given a brief tour of the house and we will be sure you know how to use all of the facilities and answer any questions you have. We will leave some tourist information in your room, along with the wifi code. You are also more than welcome to call me while you're out and about if you want directions etc.
I have been living in Dublin all my life, so I can recommend some awesome places to go that are off the beaten track that might normally slip under the tourist radar! My local area is dotted with lovely cafes and eateries all located minutes away from my front door.
The room is priced at €60 per night for one person and €70 for two people.
If you have any other questions please don't hesitate to ask!
Wifi - All household facilities
Dublin city is small so everywhere is within reasonable walking distance, but there is a selection of buses right at the end of our street and the number 16 bus will take you from the airport to a five minute walk from our house!
I also recommend checking out dublinbikes ((website hidden) it) before you arrive as it is a great way to see the city!
We have a dog named Ben. He's a cutie.
Heather and her boyfriend were very friendly and welcoming! And I really loved their dog Ben!
But unfortunately the guestroom is very tiny under the roof and you have to get into it over a very narrow circualr stair! We were very lucky that we checked in our luggage at the airport already, due to a last night out in Dublin after a road trip in Ireland...it was very difficult to get to the room with our little bag already!
So, for two People with luggage the room is definitely to small, if you want to stay more than one night!
It also could have been a bit more clean...but I blame our last minute check in for that!
So, for just a few hours of sleep before heading home it was ok!
We found Heather and Doug's house to be quite comfortable and in an excellent location. It sits on a lovely and quiet street just outside of the city center and right around the corner from a nice selection of bars and restaurants.
The room is a bit small, but completely usable and comfortable.
Heather and Doug were super friendly and took me out for a pint as soon as I arrived. They also had lots of great advice as to worth-while sites around the city.
I stayed at Heather's for 4 nights. She has a quaint cottage in a quiet neighborhood about a 20min walk from Dublin's city center and 5-10min walk from the bus to/from the airport. It can feel a bit deserted walking home late in the evenings but there are street lights. She and her boyfriend are wonderful hosts, very friendly and welcoming into their home. As the stair case to the bedroom winds around, the steps are narrow so just be careful. If you have a big suitcase, it may be hard to get it up there. Arrangements for check-in and check-out were easy. Thank you again for sharing your home and the great suggestions: Olesya's wine bar and the day tours outside Dublin! I really enjoyed hanging out and chatting some evenings, as well as your yummy Thai chicken!! My 1st trip to Ireland was wonderful. :)
Heather's place really was not what I had expected, it was about 20 minutes to walk from City Center and the room was very dusty. There were small spots of mold (?) on my sheets and also some stained spots, it was not as clean as I had hoped! At night, I really felt unsafe walking to her place just because there are very few street lights and it seems her neighbors are never home, so no one has their light on and the street felt really deserted. Despite these few elements, Heather (email hidden), and after I told her I thought I was allergic to her dog Ben, she was apologetic and was kept from the common area. She had many recommendations and I found it very easy to speak to her. Just wish I knew about the dog before I got there.
I stayed at Heather's place together with my friend, the night after St Patrick's day. As soon as I stepped into the house I felt at home, it (email hidden). It is so close to the city center, and then again so far away. With that I mean that you don't hear the noises at all, it is a calm and peaceful area. Heather is lovely, really kind and helpful! I will definitely go back to this place.
We spent an excellent weekend at Heather's place, a very cosy house (with an adorable little dog!). She friendly indicated us all the nice places to be visited. Ireland already misses us!
We stayed 7 nights at Heather's place and felt really like being home away from home. Her place is so sweet and cosy and it's not even a 10 minutes walk to the city centre!
Our hosts gave us some great tips to enjoy our time so our experience didn't feel too touristy in the end :D
When Heather came back from her own holiday over NYE we even got to meet her lovely little dog Ben and made friends with him right away, he is predestined to be loved from the first minute ;)
Oh and I can't forget to mention their exceptional good movie collection, I was really impressed!
I'd really love to stay at Heather's place again on my next trip to Dublin!
Thanks so much for hosting us on our first airbnb experience Heather! :)
We really enjoyed staying at Heathers! She was so welcoming and hospitable and spent timing telling us all about the local area and the best places to see. The cottage is very cute, decorated is beautifully and has a lovely home from home feel. Thanks for having us, Abi & Becs
