About this listing
Come and try the live-a-board lifestyle. A spacious, dry and comfortable, 41 foot yacht with heat and A/C. A waterside vacation just a mile off of I-5. Please note: no children under 13, no pets, no smoking, no exceptions.
Check out the waterview sunrise and sunsets, enjoy the marina wildlife, including ducks, geese, great blue herons and the occasional beaver. The forward cabin has an island style queen berth. The secondary cabin has two single bunk beds, these would not be comfortable for big or tall folks over 5'10. Solid countertops and remodeled galley, with new hardwood floors and plenty of dark wood throughout make a cozy environment. We are in the flight path for PDX, so depending on the wind direction we may experience airplane traffic overhead.
This rental is for a stay on the boat at the marina, and not a charter, the boat stays at the dock. Guests should be fairly mobile, the marina access ramp can get steep with river level changes. If you need a larger place, we also have an 80 foot small ship, the Zephyr, available for larger groups up to 8. https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/2079752
Guests will have access to the boat at the dock, the marina facilities restroom/shower (key card accessed), carts to bring down luggage, a single person kayak, and an icemaker (summer months only) which is on the dock. Coin laundry is available in the marina building. Swimming is never allowed in the marina.
Interaction with Guests
We are available to answer questions. Our residence, another boat, is on the adjoining dock. We are usually up and around by 8:00 AM and tucked in by 10:00 PM. General questions are welcome during these times, we can be contacted for emergencies at any time day or night. Please arrange your travel so that you can arrive at our place by 9:30 PM on your arrival date at the latest. We have to meet you to let you in for check-in, the entrance gate is electronically secured at all times.
Hayden Island is the only island community located in the City of Portland which makes it very unique to the area. Restaurants and services of all kinds are just 3 minutes drive down the road.
Parking is free and plentiful at the marina. We recommend guests come by car. There is a bus stop near I-5, about 1.5 miles west of where the boat is moored. A pleasant 20 minute walk on a tree covered 25 mph street.
We are 20 minutes drive from the Portland Airport, 15 minutes from downtown Portland, and 6 minutes from downtown Vancouver, Washington. Time estimates are assuming no traffic. Speaking about traffic, mornings heading south will be backed up. Getting back to the island from downtown Portland between 3 and 6pm will take extra time as well.
Bike and walking trails are nearby, and a bike ride alongside Marine Drive is quite scenic.
Other Things to Note
When you want to book, select the dates on the calendar, if the calendar is open, the dates are available. Make a reservation request and tell us about yourself and why you are coming, we will then review your request and approve it.
The docks are not safe play areas and there are no close areas for children to play. Well behaved children 13 and older are welcome but this is mostly an adult place. We have a flatscreen TV and DVD player, but not broadcast or cable channels. A collection of DVD's are available.
Absolutely no smoking on the docks, in or around the boat. No candles please (LED "candles" are OK), alcohol in moderation is fine. All drugs are prohibited. Well behaved children 13 and older are welcome. We do not allow any pets aboard. No swimming in the marina. This is not a party boat, think more a relaxing get-a-way from the city. Quiet time after 10pm. There are neighbors on other boats very close by and they will appreciate our guests respecting their privacy, peace and quiet.
IMPORTANT! A quick note about marine toilets. We have tried over the last couple years to get our guests to understand that only human waste should be put into the toilet and that toilet paper and anything else deposited into the bowl has to exit through a 3/4" hole. We have had to unclog the toilet multiple times now due to lack of compliance to these suggestions, so now it's a rule. Do NOT put anything into the toilet that you have not eaten first, including toilet paper and especially other sanitary items. Toilet malfunctions due to improper deposits, will cause the forfeiture of your $150 security deposit. Soiled toilet paper and other sanitary items must be put into the covered waste bin provided.
