The Space

The bedroom [approximately 110 square feet ]is en-suite and sleeps two. It can be accessed through a separate entrance but is close to the kitchen/living room .

The house which is spacious and colourful [we are a family of artists] is built on a hillside only 200 yards off the N 71 but it seems secluded because it is hidden by trees . I love gardening and am very proud of my beautiful acre of flowers and vegetables [with the occasional gorse covered rocky outcrop]

Leap village is half a mile away [the Cork bus stops here] . Leap has one shop/filling station, four pubs, a cafe and three restaurants. It 'touches' an inlet of sea that widens to the open sea two miles away.

Leap is a perfect place from which to explore West Cork. On the western side of the bay is Union Hall, a colourful fishing village and on the Eastern side is Glandore, a very beautiful centre for sailing. There are numerous beautiful bays and locations a short drive/walk away. Bantry Bay is a three quarters of an hour drive away and the peninsulas...Mizen, Sheep's Head and The Beara Peninsula can all be explored on day trips.

  • Joy was a quiet and friendly host. She was happy to show us her lovely garden and share her home with us. A very pleasant stay.

  • Joy was a lovely host, very helpful and keen to make sure I had everything I needed. She even drove me to and from the bus stop. Her dog Chloe was very welcoming too especially as I was having chicken for dinner! Joy gave me some of her home grown strawberries to try, some of the sweetest I've ever eaten. Thanks again for having me.

  • Joy's warm and interesting home was a lovely place for my partner and I to stay during our driving trip around SW Ireland. Only problem was, our stay was too short...we would have loved to rest in this quiet and leafy hideaway much longer! Joy was a friendly and attentive host, and gave us some great recommendations for places to visit along our journey through West Cork. A delightful stay all round - would highly recommend Joy's B&B for anyone wishing to explore this beautiful part of the world.

  • Joy's home is a beautiful hidden gem, far more enchanting and peaceful than the pictures show! Though tucked away on a hilltop, the house is quite accessible and the surrounding area is rich with plenty to see and do. Joy was a most interesting conversationalist and amicable host with great attention to whatever comforts were needed. I would most certainly enjoy staying at Joy's home again!

  • Staying with Joy was delightful. Her en-suite is nicely designed and comfortable. She welcomed us into her home and shared it easily with us and her garden of fresh vegetables, too! Her location is beautiful! We enjoyed our stay and time conversing with Joy.

About
I like one to one conversation, gardening, travelling and good food [healthy usually but not always] I love reading, drawing/painting, walking , intelligent conversation... People and life interest me . I am a member of (website hidden) and people who have stayed said that I am very welcoming and kind. I am quite quiet ...not the life and soul of the party. However, I am warm , thoughtful and welcoming and will care about your comfort ...your stay. I love West Cork and know quite a lot about its history and can direct you to various places of historical interest locally. What I won't want to do is take you to local pubs etc. I will point you in a particular direction and leave it to you.
