About This Listing
The bedroom [approximately 110 square feet ]is en-suite and sleeps two. It can be accessed through a separate entrance but is close to the kitchen/living room .
The house which is spacious and colourful [we are a family of artists] is built on a hillside only 200 yards off the N 71 but it seems secluded because it is hidden by trees . I love gardening and am very proud of my beautiful acre of flowers and vegetables [with the occasional gorse covered rocky outcrop]
Leap village is half a mile away [the Cork bus stops here] . Leap has one shop/filling station, four pubs, a cafe and three restaurants. It 'touches' an inlet of sea that widens to the open sea two miles away.
Leap is a perfect place from which to explore West Cork. On the western side of the bay is Union Hall, a colourful fishing village and on the Eastern side is Glandore, a very beautiful centre for sailing. There are numerous beautiful bays and locations a short drive/walk away. Bantry Bay is a three quarters of an hour drive away and the peninsulas...Mizen, Sheep's Head and The Beara Peninsula can all be explored on day trips.
Joy's place is just beautiful - not too easy to find, but worth searching. We had a nice breakfast and enjoyed our stay very much.
We had a great one night stay with Joy. The room was cosy and met our needs very well. We enjoyed a good chat with Joy and loved the artistic warmth of her home. We were given excellent tips where to visit for supper (Union Hall) and for local sightseeing beautiful riverscapes. We really enjoyed our breakfast. A great start to our3 day car tour of West Cork.
Sorry to take so long responding but have had lots of visitors [ relations] .
Glad you enjoyed your Mizen trip and i passed on your good wishes to Chris and Michael.
Thank you so much for the suggested directions. When I get around to it I will change it. You aren't the first to find my directions confusing.
Hope you enjoyed the rest of your holiday and thank you for such a good review! Best Wishes, Joy
We loved our brief stay with Joy.
We felt very welcomed and everything was perfect.
The company, the accommodation, the surroundings, the breakfast!!
If only we could have stayed longer!!
A little piece of magic in Leap!
Thankyou so much Joy and Mike!
we really enjoyed staying with Joy and her partner. both were very nice and great hosts. she has a fantastic very arty house and the most beautyful garden. The room was small but very cosy and breakfast was stunning (with fresh herbal tea from the garden!). we would defenately stay again as we would like to explore more of the area!!!!
Joy welcomed us straight away and made us a lovely cup of tea and sat down and had a good chat with us.
Joy and Mike were perfect hosts. The property was in a peaceful, idyllic spot on the side of a (website hidden) ideal location for discovering the beauty of West Cork.
About the Host, Joy
I like one to one conversation, gardening, travelling and good food [healthy usually but not always] I love reading, drawing/painting, walking , intelligent conversation...
People and life interest me . I am a member of Couchsurfing and people who have stayed said that I am very welcoming and kind.
I am quite quiet ...not the life and soul of the party. However, I am warm , thoughtful and welcoming and will care about your comfort ...your stay. I love West Cork and know quite a lot about its history and can direct you to various places of historical interest locally. What I won't want to do is take you to local pubs etc. I will point you in a particular direction and leave it to you.
