Interaction with Guests
You may contact Denise or Evelyn by email, text or cellphone if you have any questions we may be able to help you with.
We are centrally located in the heart of SF. Alamo Square / Hayes Valley is one of the most vibrant and revitalized neighborhoods in San Francisco. It includes wine bars, cafes, five-star restaurants, high-end boutiques, clubs, bars, close to movie theaters, Civic Center/City Hall, Asian Art Museum, the symphony & the Opera House and much more. Public transportation is very convenient with a bus line right across the street if you want to head downtown (21 Hayes) or to the beach. The 5 Fulton line is just 2 blocks away.
You can find some of the best coffee and foods in this part of the city and much more in the nearby districts. Also within 1 mile walking distance is the Fillmore District which offers the same with a handful of jazz clubs to enjoy. You have the Painted Ladies to the right and City Hall to the left, Western Addition behind you and the Lower Haight in front of you. Great spot to be!
I suggest to use public transportation. The 21 HAYES is right outside of our apartment! This convenient bus line will take you directly downtown and connects onto other bus lines that will bring you to other neighborhoods throughout the city. Another bus line close by is the 5 FULTON which is only 2 blocks south of us (behind the apt). It's only a 10 minute walk to Van Ness MUNI station, and 15 minute walk to Civic Center MUNI station for BART and other MUNI lines.
MUNI is an integral part of public transit in our city, operating year round and connecting with regional transportation services, such as BART, Caltrain, SamTrans, and AC Transit.
ADULT FARE: $2.25
CHILDREN: $.75c (ages 5 - 17yrs)
The city's lone subway tube is called MUNI Metro; also 3 cable car lines, and a heritage streetcar line known as the F Market & Wharves. MUNI shares 4 metro stations with BART. Travelers can connect onto San Francisco & Oakland International Airports via BART.
Convenient for driving. We do not have a garage. Parking is very expensive here in SF!! FREE parking can be found on our residential streets nearby. Metered parking are on most business areas. Located just off highways 101, 280, and 80. VERY EASY ACCESS to the freeway and only 2 mins away from our apt which leads you right to Oakland Airport and the SF International Airport.
You can explore many nearby neighborhoods by walking a mile or two in every direction from the apt.
Other Things to Note
You will CLIMB STAIRS to the top - 3rd floor! This building still has the original staircase from the 1900's. The spiral staircase was removed so you can get through with your suitcases!
We have a small water heater so it's best to take short, quick showers in order to have enough hot water to go around for a large group...especially since we are experiencing a drought/water shortage in CA.
At present, the hot tub cannot be offered as an amenity at this time. If you want to use it during your stay, please contact the owner to make prior arrangements.
The main closet is partly occupied by the owner's personal belongings. Half the closet is available for you to use or hang your clothes on the suit rack provided in addition to the rack in the second bedroom.
There will be an additional fee for laundry service if you want more towels other than what is provided and/or linen service. Please be considerate of our water shortage/drought in CA.
You will CLIMB STAIRS to the 3rd floor! This building still has the original staircase from the 1900's.
No parties or 'social gatherings' are allowed.
The hot tub/jacuzzi is not offered as an amenity at this time. If you wish to use it, please contact owner to make prior arrangements.
Please respect our neighbors with school-age children who live right below our flat in Apt 2. We ask that you keep the noise level down after 930pm.
Please do not smoke (cigars or cigarettes) inside the apartment. Smoking is permitted outside of the apt - on the deck only.
Please do not barbeque on the back deck. The grill is no longer available.
Our host Evelyn was fantastic and made sure any issues we had were dealt with promptly -- including a broken heater that she got fixed on the day before New Years. The ceilings are a bit on the low side and slant right over the beds, so this listing may not be great for tall people. Fabulous view and very convenient to Alamo Square and Hayes Valley.
great location. very clean apartment.
So glad you found the apt well located, surrounded by nice neighborhoods within walking distance like Alamo Square to the right, Hayes Valley to the left, Lower Haight in front of you and Fillmore Jazz/Western Addition behind/south of our building. I will consider removing the scented candles and replacing them with unscented or battery-operated ones. Yes, I will continue my diligence in keeping the apt clean for all of our future guests! Thank you again for choosing to stay with us!
We spent a fabulous time in SF, 4 days are not enough. We never met or heard Mark nor Denise. Evelyn did everything. she is so welcoming and accomodant, she gave us tips about the town. We are so pleased to meet her. The purple penthouse is exactly the same as described in the website, perfect for a party of 6 friends, light, comfortable and well located, not far from the major touristic attractions. the bus 21 stops at the bottom of the building and really closed to Alamo square and the painted ladies. Evelyn did her best to make us feel at ease. She provided us with towels, shower gel, and things to eat in the fridge. So great! We highly recommend this address for who ever come in San Francisco.
Orely and her friends are great guests! Easy to talk to and very easygoing. They obeyed the house rules and left the apartment clean and tidy. I really enjoyed meeting them all. It makes my job as a host very enjoyable with much anticipation to meet the next guests!
I'm glad I made Orely's stay comfortable. Yes, the apt is well located in a decent part of the city with the 21 Hayes bus right outside your door which connects onto other buses that brings you in all directions of the city. Alamo Square is up the street and Hayes Valley is down the street. Yes, we wanted to make sure the description is accurate, clean and comfy. Glad you found it fitting!
They were so sweet and gifted me with sweet treats from their homeland! So considerate of them. We would not hesitate to host them again! Thank you, Airbnb...for having such wonderful people come our way.
Good location, nice host. The hot tube is in the pictures but not working.
I recommend this flat.
We really enjoyed having Nicolas and his family stay at our apt. They were very respectful of our neighbors and our kept our place tidy. Parents were a delight!
Location: Yes, our flat is centrally located in the city with convenient public transportation all around.
Check-In Time: It is at 3pm and I hope we accommodated your request by letting you check in a tad bit early by leaving your bags without having to worry about them. Thank you again for staying with us!
We felt very welcomed and we loved the space. The view is amazing and it was very nice to have food already bought for us. The only downside is that we would have loved to use the hot tub, but heating it up made noise that disrupted our neighbors. Overall great experience.
It was very nice having you, Kimberly stay in our flat. It was a pleasure to meet you with your sweet demeanor that put us all at ease! Glad you enjoyed the space. Yes, sorry about the humming noise from the hot tub when it's on. You can have it on say mid-morning until about 8pm...so pretty much all day and yes, it takes a long time to heat up. We plan to change the voltage from 110 to 220v down the road. Thank you again.
I was very disappointed with the lack of communication during our stay. I also think it is a bit excessive to think that 12 towels is enough for 6 people. There were no instructions on what to do with the trash, where to put it, etc.
In many cases, things promised were not held up. For example, the listing states that check-in time is 3pm. We were a group of 6, my family (husband and 2 young kids) and parents that stayed here for a week. I was told to contact the host, Evelyn, a few days before arrival to send flight information. She was going to meet/greet us upon our arrival at the airport. We never saw her at the airport. After texting our host, I was told that the apartment would not be ready at check-in (3pm) and to come after 4:30pm. While we were tired from our early flight, we showed up at 4:30pm to the place that was still not cleaned, had unwashed towels, and sat around while she cleaned the bathroom. The host then went on to tell us that she would be washing those towels and returning them to us. (These towels only showed up on our staircase after I escalated the issue to Airbnb.)
After dealing with the later that expected check-in, I contacted Denise, to ask about the late check-in time only to be told that the host needed time to clean. I was just expected to be understanding about the situation. When I had concerns and tried to contact Denise, she would simply refer me back to the host. My issues were too little for her to be bothered with. Is it too much to ask that when I pay for a service and I’m not getting responses from the host, that I contact the owner and might expect a reply??
While the house is centrally located, we heard gunshots a few nights during our stay. Houses in this area have bars over the doors just to give you an idea. Unless you pack extremely light, there's really no place for you to unpack your suitcase. There is a small rack in the back bedroom that would allow you to hang up about 10 items and a few hooks but there are no drawers for you to use.
In all fairness, I will say that when I sent a text message to both Evelyn and Denise during our power outage towards the end of our stay, Evelyn was very responsive and able to get our power turned back on.
It would be nice to state on the listing that the hot tub does not work so that people don’t see other comments and assume that the owner may have fixed it.
It is described and shown in the picture as an amenity but it doesn't heat up.
