I have a private bedroom with a full bathroom (hall bathroom), in my clean, updated 3 bedroom home centrally located in Mt. Pleasant, right off the Isle of Palms connector. My home is in a very quiet, safe neighborhood and is less than 3 miles from Isle of Palms, 6 miles from Sullivans Island, and 11 miles from (website hidden). Pleasant has everything you need, including numerous grocery stores, Towne Center shopping, a library, post office, banks, plentiful restaurants and bars, fantastic attractions, beautiful parks, and outdoor recreation such as tennis, kayaking, and boat tours. Come enjoy Charleston’s historic culture, renowned restaurants and fabulous night life! The bedroom is furnished with a queen-sized bed, dresser and plenty of closet space. The bed has quality bedding and mattress. I also have towels and basic toiletries for your use and a washer and dryer you're welcome to use should you need it during your stay. Free, fast wi-fi is available throughout the home. The kitchen, with an eat-in area, is available to guests as well as use of the rest of the home. You're welcome to use the fully equipped kitchen if you'd like. I have a Cuisinart coffee machine, Cuisinart Convection Toaster Oven Broiler, and a microwave that is also a convection oven. Please feel free to bring any food or drink items you like and use the refrigerator. I also have a gas-grill on the back deck that you're welcome to use. There are vaulted ceilings in the family room with a wood-burning fireplace and a door that opens to the private backyard with deck, perfect for grilling out or relaxing watching the wildlife in the pond. The family room has a TV if you just want to kick back and relax. There is on-site parking, in the double driveway. To take full advantage of what the Charleston area has to offer you really need a car. Although car rental places are everywhere, prices are generally better if you rent one at the Charleston Airport. Thrifty, Enterprise, and Advantage are usually the cheapest options. The weekends are much cheaper for car rentals. You can often get a small car Friday through Monday for less than $75. But if you don't have a car, the CARTA bus system is available for transportation. The nearest bus stop is a 10 minute walk away. Buses go to Charleston, Isle of Palms and Sullivans Island. I have a 10 year old Labrador Retriever, named Zoe, who is extremely well behaved, great with everyone she meets, and sleeps in my room. You're welcome to bring a well-behaved dog, or other animal, of your own for an additional fee of $10/night. I work as a realtor at Carolina One Real Estate, and my schedule varies, so please feel free to come and go as you please. I will also gladly provide you with personalized recommendations for restaurants/attractions and anything else that will help make your visit more enjoyable. Don't hesitate to ask if you have additional questions!
Guests have access to everything in my home. Nothing is off limits!
Interaction with Guests
I interact with my guests as much or as little as they want.
No smoking inside, but you can smoke outside on the front porch or out back on the deck. All I ask is of you is cleanliness and consideration! Please pick up after yourselves (clothes, towels, etc in the bathroom; dishes in the kitchen). The kitchen is available for self-serve meals. I have a coffeemaker that you're welcome to use. Please be sure to turn off any appliances after use. There is almost always milk and fruit juice in the fridge, and you can help yourself to any food items that may be available. Check the cabinets for cereal and snacks. You are welcome to use the kitchen to prepare any meals.
We greatly enjoyed our stay with Margaret. All the facilities described were there, but the things that made us the happiest were her and her family's friendliness, and being in a pet-friendly home. Our dog (Zoe) got along beautifully with her dog (Zoe).
For future renters we'd add that Margaret's house is as close as you can get to Isle of Palms without actually being on the island. There are great dining and shopping options nearby, which allowed us much more time to enjoy the beach and Charleston.
Margaret's house was unremarkable when we pulled in the driveway, but when she took us inside, the house was lovely. Extremely clean and tastefully decorated. She was painting the master bedroom and that private area was in disarray due to that, but the rest of the house was neat and clean. We stayed 2 nights, her home is 20 mins. from downtown Charleston. There is a nice deck overlooking a small stream/inlet that is nice during warm weather. It was too cold to have coffee there in the a.m. but we sat out for half an hour in the afternoon sun our second day.
I have to say that because Margaret is not responding well to medication she is taking, she is having some personal issues such as being up all night--literally. The first night there was a lot of noise, which was apologized for in the a.m. and the second night was perfectly quiet.
Work was being done on the house while we were there. Nothing loud or unsettling. Just putting up shower curtains and they had just painted. The house was easy to find and bed was very comfortable. Margaret had a sweet dog that didn't bark and stayed in her room unless we called her. Overall, a very nice stay.
Margaret is an amazing and generous host. The house is sparkling clean, the room is cozy and the bed is so good that you might want to sleep a little longer. Highly recommended. Thank you Margaret!
Margaret's house was beautiful and very homey. The bed was AMAZING, so comfortable! The location was convenient for me, as I had a car and could easily drive to downtown Charleston, etc (a car is a must). Margaret is a very friendly and accommodating host as well. She had last minute out of town guests which made the house quite full but as I was hardly home it wasn't an issue for me. I enjoyed meeting her and her friends, and hearing tidbits about the Charleston area from the locals! Oh and her dog is very sweet and hardly made a peep.
There were some initial communication challenges (despite booking a week in advance, and sending emails via AirBnB, we only received a confirmation call from her when we were about 10mins away). But Margaret was a friendly and welcoming host. The room was pleasant, and has a lovely view of the backyard and water. My partner and I stayed for 3 days, and found it to be within easy reach of downtown Charleston and several beaches with a car.
This was my first Airbnb experience and I had the absolute best time! Margaret even invited me for Thanksgiving with her family who were all very generous and lovely people. I am so grateful to have had my first American Thanksgiving with them. You couldn't ask for a nicer host than Margaret she is so welcoming, I felt like part of the family. Her house is really lovely as well, very clean and homely. So glad I stayed here instead of a hotel! Thank you Margaret keep doing what you're doing...

I am originally from Isle of Palms, SC and have lived in Mt. Pleasant since 1991. I share my daughter´s passion for horses, and I love to spend time at the beach with "my other daughter," my Labrador Retriever, Zoe. Mostly, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.
