Yes, there are homeless in SOMA (South of Market Street) as well as other parts of SF. The homeless are pretty harmless. They usually will not engage in conversation with you while you walk by. It is hard to see the homeless sometimes. It has gotten much better in the last 15 years I have lived in my home that you will be staying in. Seeing homeless people in reality is a part of living or staying in SOMA and experiencing San Francisco. I do not give them money personally but I do say hello and acknowledge them with goodwill in my heart. This seems to be well received. I have had my nieces and nephews stay with me and walk to Union Square. There have been hundreds of guests with babies and children over the years without any problems. Welcome to SOMA San Francisco. It could be helpful to know that lofts on this block g(phone number hidden) over a million so you are in good company with well educated professionals. I welcome you into my home and have done my best to paint the scene so you can make an educated decision about your stay.
Arguably the most exciting neighborhood in SF, with new restaurants and bars popping up weekly. This is the loft apartment you want to stay in when you come to San Francisco!

Karina was a great host!!! The loft was gorgeous and beautiful which with a unique interior decor. Perfect getaway for my fiancé and I.
Thank you Karina for all your help. The place was amazing, extremely convenient for all those looking to explore San Francisco by car, bike or simply walking. Would love to return in the summer time, cheers!
The apartment was absolutely amazing, very clean and in a convenient location and looked exactly like in the pictures. Karina was a very kind and responsive host and was very helpful when we had troubles connecting to the internet or using the TV. Overall we had a wonderful time at Karinas place in San Francisco.
Flo and the three guys she was with were excellent guests and I highly recommend them! It was a pleasure to host them and So fun to meet two of them :) The Loft here in SOMA is a very special place and I am thrilled that you think it is absolutely amazing!!!! YAY!! Happy Guests = Happy Host!
Karina was a very good host, and her apartment is quite nice! The pictures are accurate. Pros & Cons of this place are:
1. Location is awesome. It is 3 blocks from the convention center and 5 or 6 blocks from Market street and the main downtown shopping district.
2. The apartment if quite large and nice.
4. Parking space is amazing to have considering cost of parking in SF.
1. If you have never lived in a big city or are scared easily, then yes, the apartment borders a sketchier area of town. However, you walk 2 blocks up and it's quite nice with the convention center, businesses, etc.
2. This is not a hotel! Don't expect it to be. The master bathroom is modest and a bit on the older side.
3. Check in of 4pm and check out of 11am is slightly inconvenient and would have appreciated earlier check-in and later check-out.
Otherwise, this is an excellent place to stay, especially if you are going to be at the convention center, or if you are staying for several days and want a kitchen and want to rent a car and take advantage of the parking space. Karina was very accommodating!
Great place to stay and very professionally organized 'check in/check out' process. Highly recommended!
It's a very large loft, mostly an incredibly large living space, with a very funky decor. The neighborhood is a bit sketchy, and I would not recommend that you stay here if you are not okay with a bit of the grittiness of nearby Tenderloin. Other than that, great digs.
