An ideal New York pied-à-terre, with hardwood floors, leafy views, and cool art--steps from local boutiques and bistros and 20 mins from Manhattan. Great for couples or parents visiting NYC-based kids. *Sometimes offer reduced rate for catsitting.
We're on the second floor of a 19th-century brownstone home. We have great light, tasteful yet fun decor, and even a dishwasher (major bonus in a New York apartment!). The spacious living room has a sleeper sofa, if you're travelling with a kid in tow.
The peaceful community garden next door, popular among families and gardeners, is the perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine at sunset.
Sometimes when we travel we need someone to take care of Duke, our cat (see pics), and so we drop the rate in exchange for some light catsitting (basically petting, feeding, and possibly a lil' litter scooping). When cat is not in home, rate remains at the regular $160 rate.
Our casa es su casa - everything from kitchen spices to books is yours to enjoy while you're here. We just ask guests to be respectful of our space (i.e., please don't drink all our wine or coffee!)
Centrally located on the border of two neighborhoods--the posh, residential Boerum Hill and family-oriented Park Slope--our apartment offers access to the best of Brooklyn. We're walking distance from dozens of restaurants and shops, Prospect Park (the Central Park of Brooklyn), and the new Barclays Center arena, home to the Brooklyn Nets. A very safe, friendly, picturesque area--one of Brooklyn's best-known neighborhoods.
You're a six-minute walk from the eight subway lines that stop at Atlantic Terminal, all of which will get you to any part of Manhattan you desire. Downtown New York is 15 minutes away, the West Village is 20, and Central Park is 45 minutes away.
Other Things to Note
Sometimes we list our beautiful apartment at a discount in exchange for attending to our cat, Duke. Read on only if you are interested in this option. Duke is easy to care for: he only requires a love, food when his bowl is empty and refreshing his water each morning. If you stay more than two days, scooping the litter would probably make everyone happier. He's very friendly, sweet, playful, people-loving cat who likes to be where the action is (but won't necessarily be crawling up into your lap).
$50 fee for replacing lost keys; $25 for a third guest (not including infants)
Very nice apartment that is very well-located within Brooklyn and to subway lines that run to Manhattan and to JFK Airport. The transaction went smoothly and both Catesby and her partner made every effort to assist. The second floor apartment was quiet and clean, the wifi fast, and everything worked out very well. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.
Everything was amazing about this apartment. Catesby is very nice, and her cat, Duke is the coolest. Clean, welcoming, well located (only a short walk from the train).
If you are traveling by yourself or as a copule, you will find it ideal .
The flat was very comfortable and welcoming and just as described online by Catesby. We had no trouble getting the keys and making ourselves at home very quickly. Catesby was quick to respond to our request and made the place available even though our request was on short notice and she was going away on a trip. Duke (the cat) also made us feel very welcome and would always greet us when we walked in the door. We had easy access to shops and restaurants as well as the subway line that took us quickly into Manhattan. We also went to JFK airport and it was a quick and easy drive from the flat. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!

Catesby was a great host, quickly responded to our questions and was proactive in making sure everything was perfect for our arrival. The apartment was great. The location was wonderful, on the north end of Park Slope, with tons of great restaurants and shops located nearby. Very safe neighborhood with tons to see and do. We'd definitely stay there again. Also, having A/C was wonderful after being outside in the heat all day. I would definitely recommend Catesby's place to others.
The place is great. So is the kitty. It's around the corner from where we used to live, which meant that all our favorite spots on 5th Ave were easy walking distance away. We even got lucky with on-street parking in front of the apartment. Inside, we had plenty of space for the three of us and our boy thoroughly enjoyed looking out the windows onto the cars passing by. The cat was super sweet and very chill, allowing our one-year old (who loves cats) to pet him. It was easy to get in touch with Catesby before and during our visit. We would definitely stay here again.
Catesby's place was perfectly located. The bed was very clean and comfortable and there was even a pull out couch which I didn't realize was included. This was a nice bonus. There was a small issue with the keys (not her fault) and Catesby was quick to respond. Communication was good. Oh, and we enjoyed the nice bottle of wine that was left for us! I would stay there again.
My parents loved staying in Catesby's home. It was convenient, pretty, and comfortable!
