Cute North Park Cottage w/ Bicycles

House - Entire home/apt · Granada Avenue, San Diego, CA 92104, United States

A private cottage in the heart of North Park, San Diego's most vibrant urban neighborhood. Near to Balboa Park & Zoo and many cafes, bars, and restaurants nearby. Two complimentary bicycles for guests to explore further and enjoy the weather here.

The Space

Studio cottage in the heart of North Park. Quiet street and very close to 30th & University and great breweries, shops, restaurants, bars, coffee houses, and more in North Park and other surrounding neighborhoods like South Park, Normal Heights, Hillcrest, and others.

Favorite spots in the neighborhood include: Caffe Calabria, Carnitas' Snack Shack, Balboa Park, Bottlecraft, Pizzeria Bruno, Tiger! Tiger! and many more. In the cottage you'll find a binder with a detailed list and information for your stay.

Cottage has a full kitchen (stove, refrigerator, etc.) and comes ready to do your culinary bidding. Glassware, cutlery, plates and bowls, and pots and pans are ready for your use. In the fridge you'll find two of our wonderful San Diego beers to welcome you.

At your disposal during your stay are two 7-speed bicycles, complete with helmets, rear rack, and locks. Please note that there a $300 loss penalty so if you'd like to use the bicycles please take care to lock them at all times. We are in a wonderful neighborhood for cycling and many main attractions (zoo, downtown, etc.) are within pedaling distance.

Living area has a 42 inch flatscreen TV, stereo with surround speakers, and two large bookshelves full of books you can borrow or trade for - help yourself! Closet next to bed has bar for hanging clothes and there are baskets that slide under the queen bed for shoes, bags, or other storage.

Location is well served by bus transit, but if you're looking to venture to farther areas of San Diego you may want to rent a car since many parts of the region are car-centric. (Street parking is safe and very easy to find.)

The cottage is professionally cleaned after each stay so you can be sure you'll have a clean, comfortable, relaxing stay.

Our home is on the same lot as the cottage so during your visit you may meet our family. We're fun, like to have a good time, and are generally good neighbors. We hope you have a great trip to America's Finest City.

Check-out is 11 AM, check-in is 4 PM (but somewhat flexible on check-in time).

Thank you!

Guest Access

The entrance to the cottage is via a path on the side of our house. The path is for exclusive use by guests and has lights for use at night. We have key code access to the cottage to allow for guests to arrive and depart on their own schedule.

Interaction with Guests

We have two small children so don't often have time to share drinks or a meal with guests. We do enjoy sharing our wonderful city with visitors from near and far and are happy to answer questions, share recommendations, and otherwise help to make every visit a great one.

The Neighborhood

North Park is a great urban neighborhood. There (email hidden)ly arts scene and many locally owned businesses. You'll find craft beer breweries, yoga studios, coffee roasters and cafes, and businesses of all kinds throughout the neighborhood. It's very walkable and safe, with good walking and running opportunities in nearby Balboa Park and the trails located there.

Getting around

San Diego is not a transit-oriented city, as is the case with much of the U.S. West Coast. However, our neighborhood is well served by bus lines and the bicycles provided for guests also make it quite easy to get around to many sights including Downtown, beaches, and many great neighborhoods nearby like Little Italy, Hillcrest, South Park, and others.

Check In
  • Awesome one night stay. I actually live in san diego, but north park was where I chose to have a mini stay-cation for my birthday. I had about ten people in thd cottage including myself, before heading out to the bars. Legitimately, a 5 to 7 minute walk to heaven sent desserts, bar pink, u-31, toronado, seven grand, and my favorite redwing. John was so kind and easy going. My stupid friends knocked on his front door 9 o' clock at night and he led them to the cottage. I was absolutely mortified, but john was so gracious. AMAZING collection of books, he eveb invites you to take one before checking out. The Kitchenette is fully stocked as well as the bathroom.
**The pictures are a little outdated. The cottage now has a dark brown suede couch, not a love seat and thd bed has dark blue comforter and sheets that match the curtains

  • Very comfortable and well situated for our visit to San Diego.
John was very helpful and access to the bikes is a great addition.

  • We really enjoyed staying in John's cottage for two nights while in San Diego. He provided a handy binder with recommendations of things to do, see, eat and drink in the city, and I appreciated that he was available for more info if we wanted it but he also gave us lots of privacy. The cottage itself was comfortable and came with many helpful amenities (hairdryer, soap, shampoo, etc.) in addition to a complete kitchen. We would absolutely stay here again!

  • Nice quiet place to stay, great books, nice tv, great location, easy check in and out.

  • We enjoyed a one night stay at John's North Park cottage. We frequently travel to San Diego but this is the first time we have used airbnb there. It's safe to say that if we ever need to use airbnb in San Diego again we will stay at John's North Park cottage. The location was easy to find and street parking was plentiful. John was a good communicator and warmly greeted us upon our arrival.

The cottage was spacious enough for two people and very clean. The bed was comfortable and had excellent blankets and pillows. John has written an excellent guide to the surrounding area and placed it in a binder for you to read. It is thoughtful and well written. You will not be at a lack for things to do in North Park and John's cottage is the perfect home base for exploring (on foot or on bike) one of California's coolest neighborhoods. We highly recommend this clean and well situated North Park cottage.

  • We enjoyed our stay at John's place very much. He and his family are very welcoming people and they were always there when we had any questions. North Park is a great neighbourhood and we didn't have any trouble finding nice places to go out in the evening. We highly recommend them to other travellers and hope that we can come back sometimes

  • John A.'s place was a wonderful get-away retreat for us. He was very welcoming and the micro brew in the fridge was a nice touch. The place was peaceful and quiet yet so close to a plethora of fun places to eat and hang out. We would love to come back sometime soon!!

I live in San Diego, enjoy hiking, running, reading, cooking, and trying to surf. I love learning about my adopted city and am happy to share recommendations and insights on the local scene for outdoor activities, restaurants, bars, breweries, museums, and whatever else you might be interested in. I enjoy using AirBnB to benefit local residents and property owners, rather than corporate and investor owned companies with sterile rooms and limited knowledge of the area. Excited to be part of a community to encourage conversation and connections among travelers. I have two mantras for life: - The most important vote you cast is every dollar you spend. - Don't believe the hype. Cheers!
