Studio cottage in the heart of North Park. Quiet street and very close to 30th & University and great breweries, shops, restaurants, bars, coffee houses, and more in North Park and other surrounding neighborhoods like South Park, Normal Heights, Hillcrest, and others.
Favorite spots in the neighborhood include: Caffe Calabria, Carnitas' Snack Shack, Balboa Park, Bottlecraft, Underbelly, Modern Times, Tiger! Tiger! and many more. In the cottage you'll find a binder with a detailed list and information for your stay.
Cottage has a full kitchen (stove, refrigerator, etc.) and comes ready to do your culinary bidding. Glassware, cutlery, plates and bowls, and pots and pans are ready for your use. Refrigerator has ice and water dispensers for cool, filtered drinking water.
At your disposal during your stay are two 7-speed bicycles, complete with helmets, rear rack, and locks. Please note that there a $300 loss penalty so if you'd like to use the bicycles please take care to lock them at all times. We are in a wonderful neighborhood for cycling and many main attractions (zoo, downtown, etc.) are within pedaling distance.
Living area has a 42 inch TV, stereo with surround speakers, and two large bookshelves full of books you can borrow or take with you - help yourself! Closet next to bed has bar for hanging clothes and there are baskets that slide under the queen bed for shoes, bags, or other storage.
Location is well served by bus transit, but if you're looking to venture to farther areas of San Diego you may want to rent a car since many parts of the region are car-centric. (Street parking is safe and very easy to find.)
The cottage is professionally cleaned after each stay so you can be sure you'll have a clean, comfortable, relaxing stay.
Our home is on the same lot as the cottage so during your visit you may meet our family. We're fun, like to have a good time, and are generally good neighbors. We hope you have a great trip to America's Finest City.
Check-out is 11 AM and check-in is 4 PM.
The entrance to the cottage is via a path on the side of our house. The path is for exclusive use by guests and has lights for use at night. We have key code access to the cottage to allow for guests to arrive and depart on their own schedule.
Street parking is very easy and there are no permits needed, time limits, or other restrictions.
Interaction with Guests
We have two small children so don't often have time to share drinks or a meal with guests. We do enjoy sharing our wonderful city with visitors from near and far and are happy to answer questions, share recommendations, and otherwise help to make every visit a great one.
North Park is a great urban neighborhood. There is a lively arts scene and many locally owned businesses. You'll find craft beer breweries, yoga studios, coffee roasters and cafes, and businesses of all kinds throughout the neighborhood. It's very walkable and safe, with good walking and running opportunities in nearby Balboa Park and the trails located there.
San Diego is not a transit-oriented city, as is the case with much of the U.S. West Coast. However, our neighborhood is well served by bus lines and the bicycles provided for guests also make it quite easy to get around to many sights including Downtown, beaches, and many great neighborhoods nearby like Little Italy, Hillcrest, South Park, and others.
Other Things to Note
Nightly rate includes cleaning fees and City of San Diego hotel taxes of 11.05% (Transient occupancy tax of 10.5% and tourism marketing district assessment of .55%).
There is a $25 cleaning fee for each stay that is in addition to the nightly price.
No drugs or smoking anywhere on the property or street.
No overly loud noise or music between 10 PM and 8 AM.
No pets allowed.
Ideal for two guests, the bed is queen-sized.
Have a great stay and please let us know if you need anything or have any questions about the neighborhood or city.
Johns place was very nice and private. Great experience as it was my first time using airbnb. Will both recommend John and airbnb to friends and family. Home was fully furnished and great amenities, worked great for my wife and I. I wouldn't doubt I will see John for my next trip to San diego. Thanks again.
The stay at John's place was great. The location is perfect to go out and explore on foot or bike. The cottage is super cozy, as is the neighborhood. The whole atmosphere was very relaxing. The backyard is so lovely, I kept the front door open to enjoy the breeze and smells of the plants. Did I mention there were two beers in the fridge waiting for us? Life was good at John's cottage. I'd definitely like to stay there again on my next SD trip. I miss City Tacos already...
Our first Airbnb experience was just wonderful with John and his great little cottage. Easy parking on street (even being a Friday) and retrieving key in lockbox a snap.. Cute and clean cottage fully appointed and ready for guests. Very comfy bed. 4 kinds of coffee stocked. Wonderful book selection. Very quiet as it is behind John's house. Two block walk to all kinds of restaurants and nightlife. We only stayed one night but when we come back (kids and grandson live minutes away) we hope to stay longer. John's cottage gets our unqualified recommendation....A++++
I was in and out for work for one night. Had no problem getting in and out. Would stay here again.
John's place is the perfect location to get an authentic feel of San Diego. We loved our stay here, and appreciated the attention to detail!
Johns place was great! The pictures don't do it justice! Very comfy bed and reallly spacious. Perfect for my girlfriend and I. John was nice enough to let us know where the local San Diego folk hang out and it turned out great! Would absolutely return!! Thanks John!!!
John's place was just as described. Cute little cottage in a quiet area right by the hustle and bustle of North Park! The cottage has a binder with great recommendations and clear rules/guidelines. The cottage had everything we needed for our small weekend getaway. Definitely recommend coming here if you want to enjoy North Park.

I enjoy travelling via Airbnb to stay in neighborhoods and experience places less as a tourist. Hosting via Airbnb has been a great way to showcase our great city and give visitors and authentic feel for San Diego.
