For a visit to Stanford, the location is ideal. Easy to get to caltrain, campus and downtown PA. Host was friendly and check-in was convenient.
The room was as advertised, very big space with 2 desks, big closet and very comfortable bed.
A few weird things happened:
*The host gave me a different address and phone number than the one provided at confirmation. The location is essentially the same, but I thought this was odd. I was told it was for "security and privacy," but it seemed a bit fishy. The host never gave his name so I don't even know if the guy I stayed with is the same person I communicated with on Airbnb.
*The host asked me to vacate the apartment twice during my stay, once between 8am and 2pm. I was told it was because "some people" were coming over. I suspect it was a landlord who wouldn't have been happy to find me there but received no further explanation. I obliged, but I'm a pretty easygoing guy.
*I was told that the stove in the kitchen didn't work and would be fixed in a few weeks. Which didn't help since I only stayed 1 week.
Guests should also know:
*The host lives in the living room. You have to walk right past his bed to get to the kitchen, and it's a bit like walking into his bedroom when you come in the front door. Since there's nowhere to eat in the kitchen, this also means that if you're eating in the apartment, you have to do so in your bedroom.
*The host seemed to keep slightly odd hours, coming in late at night and sleeping late in the morning.
*The apartment was not very clean. Bath tub, toilet and sink were rather dirty, as was the bathroom floor. The place had a bad smell, especially the bathroom. The kitchen floor was sticky. There were scraps of food in the kitchen sink. There were dishes all over the counter (none in the cupboard), and it wasn't clear if they were clean or dirty. There were some pots and pans on the (non-working) stove, but no obvious cooking utensils.
The room and the bed are big. Stanford University campus starts basically on the other side of the street.
Marten was a kind host who made everything very simple for me, all in all a good place to stay.
I had a great experience staying here.
The room was very nice and clean. It was private and quiet. There were two desks.
Martin was very kind and pleasant to talk to. The apartment is about as close to Stanford as you can get, as well as near many restaurants.
Martin's home was clean and he was respectful. Had a room completely to myself and I was able to come and go pretty much as I pleased (my schedule involved being gone practically all day on most days).
The price was also excellent for what was provided. I would definitely recommend staying with Martin.
The reservation was canceled 66 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Marten was a good host, exactly as advertised and responsive on very short notice which was a huge help for me.
Marten was so kind, and the place where I stayed was really good for moving around!
The room was very clean and neat, there also were a lot of cafes and restaurants around. Martin was pleasant to talk and respectful. I had very good experience, definetly can recommend.
