This little house is in a neighborhood, so It is important to be respectful. The music, or outdoor activity should be all quiet by 10PM. No smoking inside, pets are allowed if they are housebroken, and non barkers.
A lovely house in a village with character, getting into the village via the swing bridge was fun. We were made to feel very welcome by Diane.
Diane was very welcoming and always s available by phone or text. We enjoyed our stay there and especially loved the neighborhood. It is an antique home with a history feels as though you have stepped back in time. This being said, the kitchen has everything you need to cook and also a washer and dryer. It is historic and quaint with the village across the bridge, so walking everywhere was so nice. Diane was also helpful in pointing us to a wonderful surfing instructor :)
Lisa, Thank you Lisa, for being such a great guest. I found the two bedroom cottage cleaner than I left it...no jk, but seriously she was so tidy and respectful. I made a friend in Lisa and possible a partner in our business...fingers crossed...I loved her son, his wife, and her daughter Aubry. All great people. It was a pleasure to host your family, I would happily welcome you back anytime:)
Diane made us feel very welcome, even though she was out of town for the duration of our stay. She was sure to leave us a bottle of wine, coffee & croissants! The house was depicted very well through the photos, and is in a VERY quiet neighborhood, which is an extremely short walk to the Arroyo Grande Village. The house had tons of character, and we were quite comfortable there. Thanks Diane!
We enjoyed our 3-night stay at Diane's bungalow.
Host: we didn't meet Diane as she was out of town but she was prompt and kind in our contacts with her.
Pros: It is 100+ years old and reflects vintage tastes in decor. There is plenty of room for visiting and the home is not cluttered with unnecessary furniture. The gated backyard was perfect for our children to play in. The lot is located on a through street but traffic is not a problem. It was nice to have a washer/dryer set to do laundry. A quick walk to downtown was wonderful and there are many nice stores and restaurants.
Cons: Although the neighborhood is mostly quiet, the dog next door barked a lot, even when our children were not outdoor playing. The owners didn't seem to care about their dog's noise. Also, as a person that enjoys making meals, I found the small kitchen appliances dated and not ample cookware. It would have been nice to use newer dishes as well. At the time of this review, the dishwasher was not working and all dishes had to be handwashed.
We just got back from our 4 night Christmas vacation and had a blast. The house was an adorable and comfortable refuge. Our two boys (4 & 9) loved the backyard and remarked on how much they loved staying at the house many times. My boyfriend and I enjoyed our morning coffee on the sunny back porch, watching our boys play with the grey cat that seemed to live in the yard.
Showering required some skills as the tub is round on the bottom and narrow, but it was an excellent tub to soak in.
The neighborhood was very safe and just a few blocks from downtown Arroyo Grande. We took trips to Santa Maria, Cambria, Pismo Beach and SLO; AG was a perfect home base for our exploring.
The host left some goodies in the fridge and the place was well stocked with the basics, too. Communication was quick and clear and we would absolutely recommend the house and the owner.
This house is unusual and charming. It appears to be an older building which has been remodeled. While relaxing in the living room, chatting in the dining room, or stretching on the clean wooden floors in the bedrooms, we noticed details that made us curious. The swinging bridge to the downtown area was great fun and we crossed it every morning and night in addition to another historic bridge a block away which was decorated for the winter holiday season, but often we found ourselves returning to the creek walk and the historic residential neighborhood as more cozy than the shiny shops. We met several beautiful chickens include one riding on its owner's shoulders. One night we could hear the muffled announcements and cheers of a high school football game. We spent lots of time relaxing in the big backyard with a friendly cat. Neighbors knocked on the door to let us know our interior car lights were on. The bathtub is old-fashioned high-sided with oval shower curtains and somewhat steeply sloped bottom and took some getting used to (stand sidewise) but I just pretended I was in Europe. Even though the kitchen was small, the range was perfect for cooking our turkey and we made a fantastic Thanksgiving meal. We also appreciated that the house was not too cluttered but nevertheless very comfortable. There are some particularly beautiful country roads from Arroyo Grande to San Luis Obispo for country drives or bike rides.

About the Host, Diane
Hello, My husband and I have been married for twenty four years and have been blessed with four amazing children. We originally are from Manhattan Bch CA. We wanted to give our children more space to run as they grew up, so we bought a Vintage School house built in 1891. We live here in the Schoolhouse on 2 1/2 acres, and have recently added a guest home, in the shape of a Barn. This is what we have to offer you. We are in a quiet spot in the country of AG. Pismo, Shell, and Avila Bch are a short 8-10 min drive. San Luis Obispo is a short 15 minute drive. Come relax in our pool, jaquzzi, ride the bikes and enjoy the wine tasting of the Central Coast. I offer a private Yoga class in my own studio on the property, I am a certified YOga Instructor.
We have three very friendly dogs that are quiet, and loving. We love to travel ourselves, and you will get to see the many pictires of our adventures around the world as you stay in our Barn. We love to read, the movies, and to cook. Make your stay into a true B & B and request Dianes delicious healthy cooking, from Farm Fresh vegies and local fish, meat, cheese, and baked goods.
