The Space

Comfortable and beautiful owner built craftsman home with lush edible and ornamental gardens.

Guest Access

Downstairs Great Room, upstairs Great Room, dining room, two shared bathrooms, back deck and refrigerator upon request. Parking directly in front of the residence.

Interaction with Guests

I enjoy meeting new people and getting to know each other better - if this is desired by guests. Otherwise, quiet time and peace are welcomed in my home. I work full time at our local Whole Foods Market as a cake decorator, so I am home mid afternoon. You will often find me tending the garden.

The Neighborhood

***PLEASE read my entire listing before you inquire. THANK YOU!***
Although I live on Highway 12, it is not always super busy, as it is a county highway. Sonoma Mission Inn is right down the road as is Barking Dog Coffee House and neighborhood restuarants.

Getting around

There is a bus stop for the city of Sonoma located across the street and for the city of Santa Rosa, the bus stop is just a short walk down the highway.

We have two cockatiels upstairs (the room is downstairs. Sometimes they begin singing around 7, but only if they are uncovered. They are covered until guests arise.

As we are having a drought in California, please be conscious of your water use. We save water in containers in some of our bathrooms to water plants, and you are welcome to participate.

  • Janice greeted us upon arrival and gave us a tour of the lower level where the bedroom and bathroom is, and then the upper level where she provides scones in the morning. We stayed one night and it was an enjoyable experience. It is quiet and clean and the bed is very comfortable. I recommend it as a pleasant stop-over in the Sonoma and Glen Ellen area.

  • Janice is an amazing host. She was tending to her garden when we arrived. Very smooth check in. We informed her that we would get in quite late after the wedding and she was fine with it. Room is quiet, clean and very warm. But i guess the highlight of our stay was the SCONES!!! They were the best scones i have ever tasted, given that she is a baker...i am not surprised! Thank you janice its was a great stay. Appreciate your hospitality :)

  • I was in town for a wedding and Janice's house has a great location, very close to many spots (including Cline Vineyards and the vintage bi-plane rides, which I did on the way out of town!). I stayed in the downstairs bedroom for one night and another couple was in the bedroom upstairs. We all happened to arrive at the same time and they were friendly. It was nice to sit on the back deck with them and compare plans for the day. Janice let us pick ripe plums off the tree, served us scones and a mini coffee tasting, and left fresh towels, prosecco, and chocolate in our rooms. The house was a little tricky to find and I just parked off the road rather than try to angle up the driveway. She gives you the door code so you can come and go on your own. Very nice space, has a great feeling of zen and karma and goodness about it. Close to the ashram if you're interested in visiting.

  • Janice was a great host providing home baked scones and fresh fruit from her garden for breakfast. There was a bottle chilled sparkling wine in our room with some dark chocolates when we arrived. We shared the bathroom with another boarder, but the bedroom was downstairs and was private with a lock on the door. Did I mention how awesome the bed was? The location is great except If you are a light sleeper you might try another option because the house is located right on the main road that runs through Sonoma. There were a couple other people staying there while we were there, but they were all friendly.

  • Janice was a great host. She was very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The house is clean, with a beautiful patio. Janice did much more then what we had hoped for, every morning we were served homemade scones and fresh berries.
We are more then happy to recommend Janice and here lovely home in Sonoma to all!

  • Janice was such a lovely and accommodating host. We had to be at a wedding and she made sure we were able to check in early and get there with plenty of time. The room is comfortable, quiet and private. On top of that, Janice had some delicious scones for breakfast, champagne in the room and chocolates on the pillows. I'd definitely stay here again if I'm back in Sonoma.

  • Janice was a good host and the house was conveniently located. I'm a private entrance and bathroom person and if you are too this may not be the right spot. There were at least 3 other people in the house and two others using the bathroom. There was a lock on our bedroom door but we weren't given a key so we had to leave our belongings unsecured when we went out. There was a lot of activity in the house and it starts early in the morning.

  • I came up to Sonoma with a friend for the long weekend for a little getaway. Janice not only provided very comfortable accommodations, she made the weekend a very memorable experience. She made every effort to ensure that we enjoyed out stay, providing breakfast both mornings (homemade scones, fruit salad with some fruit from her garden, and good coffee), a bottle of sparkling wine in the room, and in general a very welcoming atmosphere. There were a few other people staying in the house as well who we would see come and go (a few residents and another airbnb guest) but they were all friendly and respectful. The bedroom itself has a locking door which Janice provides the key for which made the room feel very nice and private if needed.

The location was great, just 10 minutes south to the main square and 10 minute or less drive up to numerous wineries north on the Sonoma Hwy. I would highly recommend Janice's Garden Getaway for anyone looking for a relaxing weekend getaway or a longer stay in a great household!

  • Our stay at Sonoma Springs was great. Janice is a great host. Her place is very conveniently located (next to Sonoma town, Glen Ellen, Kenwood and Santa Rosa). She is relatively new to AirBnB and is trying a few different things to make the guest experience even more enjoyable. For example, she talked to us about breakfast options and we ended up having a delicious smoothie which included veggies from her own backyard (doesn't get much more locavore than this).

We also needed to stay for a few extra hours (my wife got sick before we arrived in Sonoma and wanted/needed some extra rest) and Janice was very accomodating in the regard as well.

In summary, great overall experience, plan to do it again in our next visit to Sonoma and will recommend to friends as well.
