Interaction with Guests
I enjoy meeting new people and getting to know each other better - if this is desired by guests. Otherwise, quiet time and peace are welcomed in my home. I work full time at our local Whole Foods Market as a cake decorator, so I am home mid afternoon. You will often find me tending the garden.
My home is located in the Springs of Sonoma, a community with many families, middle-class workers, and summer homes in the hills. Sonoma Mission Inn is right down the road, as is Barking Dog Coffee House and neighborhood restuarants like Mary's Pizza Shack. Olde Sonoma Pub is across the street from that, a favorite for locals, and a short 10-minute bike ride.
I have two bicyles/helmets available for guest use - I only ask for a small maintenance donation when borrowed. There is a bus stop for the city of Sonoma located across the street and for the city of Santa Rosa, the bus stop is just a short walk down the highway. Lift, Uber and taxi service are available here in the valley as well.
Other Things to Note
If you do not have a profile on Airbnb yet, BEFORE you inquire or request, please fill out your profile so I know something about you. I cannot accept requests until I know something about you. Thanks!!!
Please rember this is a private home. Your guests are welcome provided we've had prior communication. If you are bringing a guest, please include information regarding them as well.
We have two cockatiels upstairs. They enjoy "singing" in the morning, but usually only if they are uncovered. They are covered until guests arise.
As we are having a drought in California, please be conscious of your water use. We save water in containers in some of our bathrooms to water plants, and you are welcome to participate.
Please remove shoes upon entering front door. Having a dirt and gravel driveway makes it easy to bring in part of the driveway upon entering. Also, I have softwood flooring upstairs, so it can be easily damaged by shoes. Guests leave shoes near the entry door which is also where you will find the guest slipper baskets. These are for your use while staying here - please leave in your room upon leaving, so they can be washed. If time allows, it is very helpful for the sheets to be removed from the bed and the blankets folded. Also, after shower use, please squeegie the shower (squeegie located on shower window sill). I also have compost, recycling and trash containers, in the kichen area, for all to use. Please let me know if you need to know what goes into these separate containers.
We deliver an experience unique to the area and our taste - like sharing our love of chocolate!
Our stay was really nice and wonderful. Our host, Janice, was really accommodating considering we have a 14 months and most other airbnb places reject us due to having a toddler. Also we ran out of milk and Janice was nice enough to offer us the use of her organic milk from her fridge. The breakfast was just enough and right for our small family. The place is a peaceful escape for our first time in Sonoma County. We would love to stay here again when we visit Sonoma again.
Janice's accommodation fit our needs perfectly! She is a very kind and generous host who shared her dinner with us one night. Janice also introduced my wife and I to a nearby ashram. My wife absolutely enjoyed that experience and we even went back there once again to talk to the guru. My wife and Janice connected on a spiritual level which was great to see. We will definitely stay with Janice again!
Janice was very welcoming. We arrived at the approximate time I told her and she actually she came outside while we were parking our car.
The room was very clean and comfortable and we had our private entrance. Bathroom had a great shower. The details were awesome! Fresh flowers, candles, delicious breakfast in the morning and one thing we enjoyed very much was having slippers!!! Thank you Janice!!! beautiful touch! Nice neighborhood and even the house in on the Sonoma Highway, evenings and nights were very quite and peaceful.
Janice, thank you! The room was perfect! Spacious enough, private and very clean! You were a perfect host and The coffee, fruit and scones in the morning were delightful! When we come back to the Sonoma/Napa area, we will stay at your home for sure! Thanks again. Carl
We had a wonderful stay with Janice while we were in Sonoma. She was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. We really appreciated the fresh cut fruit and scones in the morning! Thanks Janice!

About the Host, Janice
I have been living in my beautiful home here in Sonoma for the past 25 years. My main hobby is gardening, both edibles and ornamentals. Most time of the year you will find flowers throughout my home that I have grown in my garden. I also enjoy music, cooking, baking, hiking, sewing, traveling and spending time at our local Ashram. I am studying Ayurvedic, the ancient medical system of India, and have brought many of the teachings into my life.
I live with my son, Rhett who is 21 and a permanent renter, Ben, age 30.
I am very blessed to have a large home to share with others and throughly enjoy meeting people from all over the world.
I offer an organic contiental breakfast to my guests, made in-house. I also offer coffee and/or tea service available 24/7. I feel this is an important aspect of a Bed and Breakfast.
Please note: I work full time Tuesday thru Saturday, so if you are requesting for a same day reservation, I can only respond during my breaks or lunchtime.
I look forward to hosting you!
