About This Listing
My husband and I manage a small, diverse organic farm. Our children vacated the master bedroom on the first floor.
The room has a desk, a reading chair and plenty of room to stretch. There is an attached bathroom with bathtub and 2 sinks.
You enter through the front door. Your room is on the main floor. We sleep upstairs.
Interaction with Guests
You may walk the 23 acres and see the farm. We will happily show you around. There is a path through the reforested 11 acres and around the pasture. Breakfast includes our farm raised eggs, fruits and vegetables in season.
Columbiaville was a busy place 100 years ago. Recently, the former train tracks have been turned into a bike path by the Rails to Trails initiative. The Flint River runs through the village. Kayaks, canoes, and bikes can be rented through Pedals to Paddles. The Land Stewardship Center and Nature Sanctuary abuts our land. Our guests are welcome to walk there and enjoy the pristine surroundings.
Easy to walk and bike. We can pick you up from public transportation in Lapeer or Flint for a fee.
Other Things to Note
We have no dog, but our barn cat sometimes comes into the house for a special treat.
No smoking in the house. We take our shoes off at the door and wear slippers/socks in the house. We are not averse to alcohol, but drunken behavior will not be tolerated.
This unique farm home is an easy drive from the nearby Interstate and is not hard to find. The room was very spacious with a desk and easy chair. The private bath is for that room only with a double sink setup that is very handy.
Robin and Greg are gracious hosts and we were soon chatting about family, farming and world travel. We were treated to a delicious homemade farm breakfast each morning made with local ingredients including their own organic eggs.
The location worked out perfect for our travels and family activities and we also learned a lot about organic farming which we are interested in for our own property. Overall it was a unique and satisfying experience.
