Elly’s place is perfect !
I completely agree with Sophie's earlier review to Casey, the husband of Elly
It is in a fantastic location, cannot be better ! Right in the heart of ubud and just far enough walk from the main road to be peaceful and quite.
And …… there is, not official but pretty easy to do, acces to both Hanoman Street and Monkey Forest Street from the house.
Absolutely the only place in the neighborhood because there is a small bridge to Hanoman Street with Yoga Barn and the Kaffee and many nice places. This bridge avoid walking about 20 minutes every time.
The interior is made by Casey, who owns a midcentury vintage interior design gallery in Amsterdam, away from this local wooden choice of furniture but the house feels perfect in balance ; Fengshui, with hidden mirror, lime walls, low seats, colorful pillows, paintings...
The garden is beautiful and quiet, the pool is great to swim in when one need to cool down or relax and the place is spacious and cute.
When we arrived we found the house in a pretty discusting state. Everything was moldy, the windows were clearly not opened for a long time, all the sheets were moldy and dirty and the place stank. There was nothing in the kitchen no cups, plates etc. not even a waterboiler to make a cup of tea! we had to buy new sheets and cups and a waterboiler etc. ourselves... The place has potential if taken care of, which is not the case now. The people from the guesthouse "the whitehouse" who are responsible for the cleaning are not doing a great job!
My stay at the Satiga apartment (on the grounds of The White House, Ubud) has dissatified me. It is located at a great location, very central in Ubud (monkey Forrest Rd).
The apartment is poorly maintained and lacks good management. There was no hot water, it smelled very musty, it felt a bit abandoned and there was even a bird's nest in the living room!
On arrival, the apartment was not cleaned and the sheets were very stale. Even after the staff had cleaned the apartment it looked out unchanged.
I wish I could write a better review but that is not actually possible. Hopefully this apartment will be better maintained in the future. Because potentially it is a beautiful place with great possibilities! It just lacked on some points.
After our guest Jim contacted us, we immediately contacted and instructed the staff at The White House. We have an agreement with them to do the maintenance of our villa/apartements. We were very sorry to hear not all was conform the expectations of the guest. The staff tried to arrange all but apparently did not manage to do all that same day. Unfortunately our guest Jim, decided to leave before we had the change to live up to his expectations. We are also dependent on the local staff and regret the experience of Jim. Although we all when travelling the world, need to realise that western standards can be different from asian standards and also the efficiency of solving issues (including timedifferences with communication), we instructed the staff again to do a good job! With all questions guests can turn to them, which is a advantage over staying in a house without helping hands around. We hope that all future guests will enjoy their stay in our place because, as Jim mentioned, the location is great and central.
Casey's place was perfect.
It is in a fantastic location, right in the heart of ubud and was just far enough walk from the main road to be peaceful and quite.
The pool was great to swim in when the we needed to cool down and the place was spacious, cute and had everything we needed.
Casey was super helpful, patient and responsive with all of my questions, I will definately be back when I visit next.
