  • We had an awesome stay at Giorgio's place. Perfect location in bustling Trastevere, clean apartment and Giorgio is easy to communicate with. Being in Italy, the only thing we missed were wine glasses in the apartment.

  • My wife and I stayed at this apartment for 3.5 weeks and during that time there were definitely some major positives and some frustrating negatives about the place.

First I'll start with the positives. The location is amazing. If you want to be close to the major parts of Rome (30 minute walk to Vatican, Colosseum, etc.) but not be surrounded by tourists, Trastevere is the place to be. There are great restaurants, markets, and grocery stores within a 1 minute walk of this apartment. (Note: it is on the 5th floor, but there is a small elevator.)

Giorgio is super nice and was always kind dealing with us with the issues I'll chat about below.

The apartment is newer and nice, but as a 6'4" male it was definitely too "short" for me. I couldn't stand up completely in the kitchen or the bathroom (especially the shower). If you are over 6 feet tall you probably want to find another place if you don't want to hunch all the time.

The wi-fi was the biggest problem during our stay. My wife and I were planning to work a decent amount each day during our trip and I would estimate that half of the time we were there (1.5 to 2 weeks cumulative out of the 3.5 weeks) the Internet was completely not working. This meant do access the Internet we had to go down stairs (5 flights) and sit on the dirty street curb using someone's wifi that didn't have a password on it. (Read: not ideal.)

When the Internet went sometimes it would take multiple days for Giorgio to fix (until we told him we would move to another AirBNB for the rest of our stay, then he got it fixed quickly.)

Other things about the apartment: the bedroom is great. Equipped with air conditioning, a ton of closet space, etc. The living room has a big HDTV, but you only get about 7 channels.

Many things in the apartment broke or were broken just for regular use. The metal front of the dishwasher broke off in the first week we were there (and wasn't fixed the rest of our stay). The bathroom continuously had a very strange smell coming from it. Like a sewer water. The fridge didn't sit flat so we put a thick book under a leg. The door to the bathroom fell of the hinges a bunch.

Truth be told, I wish we would have stayed somewhere else. The Internet alone made this place frustrating for us.

We did get a free taxi shuttle to the airport which was nice, but for spending over three grand to stay here, I just wish we would have had consistent Internet, taller ceilings and nothing broken.

Summary: If you are tall or NEED good wifi, this is not the place for you. If you are only in town a few days, overlook the quirks of this place and enjoy the area.

  • We have just returned from having a fabulous holiday staying in Gorgio's appartment!!
The appartment itself is in an ideal location. If you get the train from the airport to trastevere station, there is the tram stop or bus stop across the road, which you can take to practically the front door of the apartment.

The area in which the apartment is located is perfect! It is situated amongst beautiful cobble streets, with a huge selection of places to shop, eat and drink, an ideal place to explore and mix with the locals. The area is clean, safe and friendly and would be perfect if you were a single female traveler.

The area is lively but not at all too noisy late at night.

There are buses and trams that can take you across the city, however Rome is very compact and we walked everywhere, with all the tourist attractions being within a 20-30 minute walk.

We did not meet Gorgio, but he was accessible within 24hrs with a couple of issues we had. We met his associate Lucia at the apartment who was very friendly and helpful. She showed us hot spots for night life, shopping etc on the maps, gave us a business card in case we had any problems and could arrange airport transfer on check out if required.

The apartment is in a lovely well kept secure building, on the 5th floor with a lift, or 120 steps!!.
We found the apartment bright, very clean and furnished to an excellent standard.

The bedroom is very spacious with a lot of storage. The bed was big and extremely comfortable.
There is an excellent aircon unit in the bedroom which we had on several of the nights. We did not need the central heating.

The bathroom is a good size with full size bath and shower with excellent water pressure and endless hot water!

The lounge/dining area is a good size (even if there were 4 of you). The sofa is extremely comfortable.
There is a large TV with cable which we did not use. We had no problem with the wifi, which was excellent for planning our outings!

The kitchen has a couple of pans and bowls which you could make a quick pasta dish.
There was a coffee machine which we could not get to work, and couple of espresso cups.
Gorgio did provide us with a kettle after the weekend, but we are big tea drinkers so we bought our own mugs- nice souvenir of our holiday.
There is a good size fridge, 4 ring hob, and oven/grill but we didnt use it.
There is no microwave or toaster as advertised, but there are so many cheap places to eat near by.

We had a fantastic holiday here and would highly recommend this apartment to anyone coming to Rome!!!
We would definitely want to stay here again!!

  • Great apartment and great location. Also surprisingly quiet given where its located so we had some good lie-ins!

  • If it was not for the missing internet connection at the appartment, my experience with Giorgio was nearly perfect! From the arrangments to pick me up at the airport to the last day, he has been constantly available to make my stay in his appartment as smooth as possible.

And I have to mention he has even provided me with a 3G sim card for my iPad in the absence of an internet connection (which I understand is not his fault to begin with).

If you're looking for a nice stay in Rome in a strategic place from which you can discover the city I definitely recommend Giorgio's flat. I will go back myself as soon as I can.

    Dear Hervé,
I would like to thank you for having taken the time to share your comments about your last stay few days ago.
I apologize we had a technical problem with internet wifi and i hope the solution with 3G sim card was enough.
I want inform you that the problem was fixed and if you want to come back you are very welcome.

    Yours sincerely
    Giorgio

  • We had a perfect stay in Giorgio's appartment. Perfect location and Giorgio is very pleasant to deal with.

  • We loved our stay at the apartment. Spacious and clean living space and bedroom, compact but tidy bath, windows overlooking central courtyard, and great location in (website hidden) was a plus for the warmer days, as was the elevator when bringing our bags in and out. Only drawback was that the Internet did not work at all, which made it slightly harder to plan our sightseeing. Otherwise, Giorgio and his team made our stay very enjoyable, and would highly recommend this rental to those looking for a more authentic slice of daily Roman living.

About
I love active life and I try to maximize the time I spend outdoors, which is not too difficult in the Italian climate! In free time, I love traveling and discovering new places. When in Rome I like spending time with my girlfriend and friends exploring beautiful parks of Rome by bicycle, climbing, or just having a glass of wine in good company. I take every opportunity I have to visit exhibitions of contemporary art, or listen to good live music. I studied arts and tourism and worked for a large airline for quite some time. But I only found myself as an entrepreneur – I love my job! It gives me the chance to meet people and hear their stories. It also reminds me of how amazing a life of a traveler can be. The best quote I've encountered: "I love people who can make me laugh, when I don't even want to smile"
