The Space

We are a friendly couple happy to talk travel with you as we have travelled a lot, but will not intrude on your privacy as your space is important. We recently had a lovely Belgian guy who is travelling the world on his recumbent cycle stay with us. Adrien's website can be found by googling Myworldtouronstreetmachine (translate). If you love travel you will enjoy the read and photos.

Quote from Adrien's website as follows:

“The city of Tauranga is my next step. About thirty kilometers before the town, a picnic area where I was taking a coffee break, I met Marion and Kevin. Very quickly, they offer host me for the night. I am greeted like a king.
. Marion and Kevin were absolutely lovely and it was a pleasure to meet them”.

We offer a double bedroom with built in wardrobe. It is light and airy. You will have exclusive use of your own bathroom while you stay with us. The shower is over the bath. Our home is modern and has a slightly Tuscan feel.
Breakfast is included in the tariff.

Our neighbourhood is very nice and quiet. There are also lots of walking tracks around this area. A walk of 10 minutes takes you to Mills Reef Winery which is really nice and a great place for a leisurely lunch and some wine tasting. Another 15 minutes wander along the road brings you to our little Shopping centre and arguably the best restaurant in Tauranga.

Bus stop is 50 metres from our house. Town is a 6 minute drive. Mount Maunganui Beach is a 15 minute drive.
Usually I will be able to reply to your enquiry within a few hours.
We would love to meet you!

*Note: The price is for a couple per night not each.
We will arrange a special price for a single person.

  • We had a wonderful stay! Marion and Kevin are extremely friendly and welcoming, and even invited us to have dinner with them one night. They have a beautiful house. The guest room and bathroom are in their own private area of the house and are both immaculate.

  • We arrived to a friendly welcome and was shown our accommodation which included a small guest sitting room. We got the impression that we had to stay in that room when not in the bedroom. But that was quickly erased when Marion invited us to their living area for a cup of tea as soon as we had unpacked. In fact we never entered that sitting room the 3 days we stayed, we were always invited to Marion and Kevin's sitting room where there was much fun and laughter. We had dinner together the 3 nights in various forms, carry out, Kevin's BBQ and Marion's delightful Lamb Shanks. We have never had such a friendly rapport with our hosts, we had a ball. Great that Kevin and Dorothy lost the game of penanquc. The house plan is ideal for BnB with guests area separate from the hosts and Marion's attention to detail and Kevin's humour make this the ideal stay.

    Response from Marion:

Yes, we have loved every minute of time spent with our guests!! The little room is only there if guests like to have somewhere private to sit and chat together. We really loved having you stay with us. Kevin and I often comment on the lovely, fun loving and interesting people we have met through airbnb. Lucky us!

  • Fantastic. T his one word describes both our experience with the accommodation and with the hosts. The property is situated in a lovely area and is immaculate in its presentation.
The welcome we received on our arrival was more like the greeting you get when welcoming old friends back that you haven't seen for ages.
Marion and Kevin gave us all the local information on places to visit and it is only thanks to them we met such wonderful people and saw such marvelous scenery in our short stay with them.
I sincerely hope that we can stay in touch.
We have no hesitation in giving this B&B top marks, it just could not have been better.
Thank you so much Marion and Kevin.

  • We had a wonderful time staying with marion and kevin. From the first time on we felt welcomed and like at home. The two of them are very lovely and helping. And they have a great sense of humor! We laughed a lot together. We stayed for four nights. Twice we had dinner together, which was very delicious cook and served with love. The same with breakfast: lots of fresh fruits, müesli, toast and of course marmite for luca :-)
Our room and bathroom were both very clean and lighty. We also loved to sit outside in the garden and relax or playing pétanque with kevin and marion. We highly recommend staying with them, it was the best we could do!

  • Staying at Marion and Kevin's is better that any 5 star hotel. The house is so gorgeous and clean and tidy. They were so kind to us and very helpful. My girlfriend and I arrived on the day of my birthday and Marion had baked a cake for us. That was so lovely.... And so good!!!!
We definitely recommend to stay with them and we will keep in touch with them for sure as they are now our kiwi family!!!!!

  • So far the best experience we had with airbnb hosts. A clean room, separate bathroom and toilet for guest. Had a lovely dinner pizza and great breakfast with Marion and Kevin. Their hospitality and kindness were absolutely outstanding. Even helped us find our next accommodation.

  • Wow, only our second AirBnb stay, but will be hard to beat.

This is what AirBnb should be like in our minds and the whole reason for preferring it over a hotel. Marion & Kevin are wonderful hosts, friendly, welcoming and chatty.

Their home is lovely and our room was very comfortable and came with it's own bathroom. Everywhere was clean and tidy and we loved the little travel mementos dotted around the house.

Breakfast was filling and included wonderful French Pastries and if we had mentioned our love of them sooner, French Omelettes too.

We opted to dine in with Marion & Kevin on our first night and were not disappointed,. Great stories from their travels, scrummy German sausages and a gorgeous home-made chocolate sponge cake - this couple knows how to cook!

They gave us lots of advice on what to see and do in the area and even lent us a torch to explore the tunnels at the nearby Karangahake gorge - AND sent us on our way with some home-baked cookies!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend to anyone who is looking to meet warm and genuine hosts to stay here. If (when!) we return to Tauranga, we will have our fingers crossed that Marion & Kevin are not already booked.

To sum up: warm, friendly and homely.

  • Having tried several airbnb's in past year, we have to say this one comes into the category of "cream of the crop". Our hosts, Marion and Kevin, were absolutely delightful as was their stunning house. We wanted to stay and never come home. Their care for guests was exemplary, and the warmth they gave out showed in every way, whether preparing breakfast or simply in their manner. Add to this the area in which they live, and you have a winning combination. Tauranga is a very special part of New Zealand. Also, we were offered dinner for a small charge, and had the best New Zealand lamb shanks cooked in a red wine sauce. What a treat! Kevin's pizzas were also well worth a mention. Thank you Marion and Kevin. We hope to be back before too long.
