About this listing
This spacious, rustic, cosy house is well situated. lose to shops, bus and beach (1 km). Go kayaking in the most beautiful archipelago in the world or visit the rock carvings at Vitlycke, UNESCO World Heritage. Kayaks and outdoor tub are included.
Spacious, rustic and cozy log house well situated in quiet Grönemad just outside Grebbestad center in Bohuslän, West Sweden.
Here you can glide silently through the water in a kayak, camp on deserted beaches and enjoy the midnight sun early in the summer, spot seals and stargaze. During off-season you can go lobster fishing, eat oysters, walk by the sea, sit by the fire and enjoy the stargazer view in the outdoor hot tub a quiet cold night.
Frankly, this place is the perfect love nest.
It´s 10 min walk to the sea (1 km) = a few minutes by bike and the same distance to the center. The house is quite private located in the area. Natural plot with lots of raspberry plants and outdoor hot tub. Grebbestad is famous for its delicious oysters. We also recommend you to try the shrimps, crayfish, crabs and lobster.
Shops, restaurants (Telegrafen and the fishing boat Donalda are the best ones), café, grocery stores, cinema, fish shop, liquor store (Systembolaget), etc. are open all year around in Grebbestad centre (1 km from the house).
if you like scuba diving there are a couple of dealers around Grebbestad. Look up "Dyk-Leif" in Hamburgsund. A great place for scuba diving is Väderöarna (Weather Islands).
There are lots of things to see along the coast. Some nice places are Fjällbacka, Smögen, Vitlycke rock carvings - only 7 km from the house (UNESCO World Heritage), Väderöarna and Kosterhavet National Park. You can reach Oslo by train in about 4 hours, Stockholm in 5-6 hours and Göteborg in 2,5 hour (everything is quicker with a car). There are connections between Göteborg and Grebbestad that makes it quite easy to go here by train and bus.
It is nice to come here in the autumn to go on lobster safari with "Everts Sjöbod". In september Grebbestad celebrates "The Oyster Day". The outdoor tub is best to use when its cold outside.
The house has three small bedrooms (for 5 persons) with five real beds and three extra matresses plus a large sofa for extra guests. The social areas are quit large. Two toilets and one shower. Glass doors leading out to a sunny patio with outdoor furnitures. Fireplace and guitar. On the mountain/hill at the backside of the house there is a beautiful wood fired outdoor hot tub with a amazing stargazer view. Its great to sit there in the night, eating oysters and drinking something good. Fully equipped kitchen but no dish washer. Grills in two different sizes and a hammock to hang out on the patio. Four sun beds.
We have two kayaks with rudder you can use (Prijon Seyak and Seabird- the smaller one) and two small wagons for walking the kayaks to the sea by foot (1 km). If you have a roof rack you can take them on that, with cloth in between. Kayaks can also be rented at the Kayak Centre in Grebbestad or at Grönemad beach at Skärgårdsidyllen. We have 4-5 bicycles of various sizes and conditions you can use.
We seek an environmentally friendly way of living. You need to recycle and compost all food left overs, paper, plastic etc in this house. The house is mostly built from recycled materials, which adds to its charm but also gives it a patina and makes it slightly rough and rustic. If you need to, you can borrow bed linens and towels from us. OBS! You need to do the cleaning by yourself before checking out. If you dont want to clean yourself you can buy the cleaning for €200.
Since we live in Gothenburg, 160 km south Grebbestad, we have engage a local woman who meets you up at the house.
The house and its surrounding. Two kayaks. Outdoor equipment. Bicycles. Water. Electricity. Wifi is coming during 2015!
Interaction with Guests
The contact will mostly be through email. Its not often we have the possibility to meet you at the house since we live 160 km south Grebbestad, so instead we have made an arrangement with a local friend who will meet you by the house and help you.
Grebbestad is well situated on the west coast of Bohuslän. Its very popular during summer and it is famous for its delicious oysters. There is a beautiful archipelago by the coast.
The house is well situated on a hill. Its a "wild" and rough building plot with some cultivation boxes and raspberries. We use the house as a getaway so you might see our stuff. Anyway, we try to make it as clean and tidy as possible!
Its easy to get here with public transportations. It takes about 2,5 hours from Gothenburg. Change to bus in Tanumshede/Tanum. Walking distance from Grebbestad bus station or Grebbestad church (10-15 min).
Of course you will be able to see a lot moore of the coastal line if you have a car.
Other Things to Note
Book this house it if you seek something close to nature, rustique and cosy. Its not a fancy, luxury house.
Please be careful and handle it as you would do with your own house or apartment.
Do not forget to clean the house when you leave. You can borrow bed linens and towels from me if you need. If you have spare time I would like you to wash them in the washing machine and hang up to dry before you leave. Please read in the binding with house info about how to use the outdoor tub since it needs special handle.
Such a great place to stay, a real Swedish experience, can't recommend this place highly enough, lovely & cozy but also really spacious, comfy & the best equipt kitchen I've ever had in a holiday house! We are a family of three & our 4 year old loved it, could easily fit a family of 5 comfortably. Kitchen is great for preparing all the delicious seafood in the area particularly the oysters!! The house is in a lovely quiet, secluded and smart neighbourhood and close to the coast and shops in Grebbstad. We had a car for our short stay which meant we could get around the area & see all the sights really easily as they are all within a short drive & there is so much to do, needed longer. Cycling in the Kosters was a real highlight & the rock carvings. We didn't meet Linnea in person but communication was immediate & the key lady & her husband were lovely. This is a place for adventure, food & relaxing in equal measure. The hot tub was the perfect place to see out the long days of mid summer, really didn't want to leave & now want to go back! Go ahead & book you won't regret it!
Linnea's house was great for us. It had a lot of space and the outside area was perfect for breakfast, grilling etc. The communication was very good with a friend who showed us everything. Overall, a great place to stay in Grebbestad and Sweden's westcoast.
We stayed 2 nights at the cabin, and really enjoyed our stay. The cabin is very cute, well equipped and comfortable. We did find that the underfloor heating took a while to warm up, but one established it kept the house nice and warm.
It was very easy to communicate with Linnea, and the checkin instructions were excellent. Ingela, who showed us around the house, was lovely and very helpful.
The local area is beautiful, and we enjoyed eating fresh shrimp from the fish shop in town, and lunching at Telegraf restaurant, which was very tasty and surprisingly affordable. The local prehistoric rock-art is fascinating to visit, and a nice sheltered place for when it is windy on the coast.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would have liked to stay for a couple more days if the weather had been kinder to us.
A lovely, quiet, cozy spot - an extremely relaxing retreat for anyone from a couple like us to a family of five or six (there's plenty of room). Clean with loads of character and a well equipped kitchen…so nice if you like to cook!
We didn't get to kayak during our stay, but did explore the nearby coast by boat…it is spectacular, and you can easily base camp from Linnea's place and explore the area's many islands and islets.
All in all a great place, and Linnea was clear and complete in her communications with us throughout. Highly recommended!
We had a lovely time at Linnea's cottage. It was close to the local supermarket and cafes but felt nice and secluded when we were home in our own little hideaway. The hottub was nice and relaxing at the end of the day, just ensure you allow about 3 hours for it to heat up, the wait is worth it though!
Even though we did not meet Linnea in person, we had a wonderful stay and were really well taken care of. The house is really cozy and transmits a peaceful and relaxing feeling which definitely enhances the experience. Hopefully next time we will get better weather to go kayaking.
The cabinn is simply amazing and the word "cozy" is just the best description for it and for the experience itself. We didn't have good enough weather to enjoy the kayaks, but all the rest was fantastic (expecially the bath tub:)). Highly recommended for a relaxing vacation!
