This spacious, rustic, cosy house is well situated. Its close to both shops, bus and beach (1 km). Go kayaking in the most beautiful archipelago in the world or visit the rock carvings at Vitlycke, UNESCO World Heritage. Kayaks and outdoor tub are included in the price.
Spacious, rustic and cozy log house well situated in quiet Grönemad just outside Grebbestad center in Bohuslän, West Sweden.
Here you can glide silently through the water in a kayak, camp on deserted beaches and enjoy the midnight sun early in the summer, spot seals and stargaze. During off-season you can go lobster fishing, eat oysters, walk by the sea, sit by the fire and enjoy the stargazer view in the outdoor hot tub a quiet cold night.
Frankly, this place is the perfect love nest.
It´s 10 min walk to the sea (1 km) = a few minutes by bike and the same distance to the center. The house is quite private located in the area. Natural plot with lots of raspberry plants and outdoor hot tub. Grebbestad is famous for its delicious oysters. We also recommend you to try the shrimps, crayfish, crabs and lobster.
Shops, restaurants (Telegrafen is the best one), café, grocery stores, cinema, fish shop, liquor store (Systembolaget), etc. are open all year around in Grebbestad centre (1 km from the house).
if you like scuba diving there are a couple of dealers around Grebbestad. Look up "Dyk-Leif" in Hamburgsund. A great place for scuba diving is Väderöarna (Weather Islands).
There are lots of things to see along the coast. Some nice places are Fjällbacka, Smögen, Vitlycke rock carvings - only 7 km from the house (UNESCO World Heritage), Väderöarna and Kosterhavet National Park. You can reach Oslo by train in about 4 hours, Stockholm in 5-6 hours and Göteborg in 2,5 hour. There are connections between Göteborg and Grebbestad that makes it quite easy to go here by train and bus.
It is nice to come here in the autumn to go on lobster safari with "Everts Sjöbod". In september Grebbestad celebrates "The Oyster Day". The outdoor tub is best to use when its cold outside.
The house has three small bedrooms with five real beds and three extra matresses plus a large sofa. The social areas are quit large. Two toilets and one shower. Glass doors leading out to a sunny patio with outdoor furnitures. Fireplace and guitar. On the mountain/hill at the backside of the house there is a beautiful wood fired outdoor hot tub with a amazing stargazer view. Not so bad to sit there in the night, eating oysters and drinking something good. Fully equipped kitchen but no dish washer. Grills in two different sizes and a hammock to hang out on the patio. Four sun beds.
We have two kayaks with rudder you can use (Prijon Seyak and Aquilo K1 GF eXtreme) and two small wagons for walking the kayaks to the sea by foot (1 km). Kayaks can also be rented at the Kayak Centre in Grebbestad or at Grönemad beach at Skärgårdsidyllen. We have 4-5 bicycles of various sizes and conditions you can use.
We seek an environmentally friendly way of living. You need to recycle and compost food left overs, paper, plastic etc in this house. The house is mostly built from recycled materials, which adds to its charm but also gives it a patina and makes it slightly rough and rustic. If you need to, you can borrow bed linens and towels from us. OBS! You need to do the cleaning by yourself before checking out. If you dont want to clean yourself you can buy the cleaning for €200.
The house and its surrounding. Two kayaks. Outdoor equipment. Bicycles. Water. Electricity. Wifi is coming during 2015!
Interaction with Guests
The contact will mostly be through email. Its not often we have the possibility to meet you at the house since we live 160 km south Grebbestad, so instead we have made an arrangement with a local friend who will meet you by the house and help you.
Grebbestad is well situated on the west coast of Bohuslän. Its very popular during summer and it is famous for its delicious oysters. There is a beautiful archipelago by the coast.
The house is well situated on a hill. Its a "wild" and rough building plot with some cultivation boxes and raspberries. We use the house as a getaway so you might see our stuff. Anyway, we try to make it as clean and tidy as possible!
Its easy to get here with public transportations. It takes about 2,5 hours from Gothenburg. Change to bus in Tanumshede/Tanum. Walking distance from Grebbestad bus station or Grebbestad church (10-15 min).
Of course you will be able to see a lot moore of the coastal line if you have a car.
Other Things to Note
Book this house it if you seek something close to nature, rustique and cosy. Its not a fancy, luxury house.
Please be careful and handle it as you would do with your own house or apartment.
Do not forget to clean the house when you leave. You can borrow bed linens and towels from me if you need. If you have spare time I would like you to wash them in the washing machine and hang up to dry before you leave. Please read in the binding with house info about how to use the outdoor tub since it needs special handle.
When we arrived we were more than curious how the house would be - and we were not disappointed! Lying on an little rock it gave the impression of a single location, and as it was low-season we barely met people as we did our daily walking tours in the surroundings.
It's a 15 minutes walk to the coast or in the other direction to Grebbestad, which offers you everything you need, even some cosy cafes and a great fish-dealer. For the weather was too rough we didn't tried the kayaks, but we will come back and do so... one day. One afternoon we prepared the outdoor tub and it was so fantastic taking a hot bath at 4°C. I want such a thing for my Berlin balcony ;o))
We also enjoied the fireplace and had a real good autumn week with nothing more (but not less) than reading, playing games with the children and taking walks in the astonishing nature of the Swedish west coast.
The house is a perfect place for those who want relaxed and unsophisticated holidays in a house that makes you feel like borrowed from old friends.
Mysig stuga nära Grebbestad och skärgård. Vi hade en toppenhelg och fick både vila ut och röra på oss.
We really liked the place, it was exactly how it was described, very cosy, clean and just something special. The coastal area is beautiful and can be perfectly explored by walk and by kajak. Even if we didnt meet Linnea and Jonas, the communication was very good and they were caring hosts. Thank you!
We had a very nice time at Linnea and Jonas' house. There is great outdoor space, a nicely appointed kitchen, and a fantastic living room with a sectional sofa and lots of light. We made good use of the kayaks, which they generously make available to their guests, along with bikes. I would describe the experience as being like borrowing a house from friends - you are living around their things and dealing with the quirks of the property. If you are okay with that (which we were, for the most part), you will be happy. As for Grebbestad and the surrounding area, it is gorgeous, but if you are going in the off-season (which is anything after 8/31), be prepared for almost no restaurants or activities like taking a boat out to the Weather Islands to be open except on Friday and Saturday. That being said, there is a great fish market in town, and a grocery story, and lots of hiking and kayaking and napping and reading opportunities, so there is hardly a lack of things to do. But, if you want to explore the Bohuslan area and are not a Swedish speaker, there is very little information available online, so I would encourage you to do as much homework as possible in advance. For example, there is an incredible biking/running trail less than 1k from the house that is part of the larger Kuststigen Bohuslan system, which we never would have known about had I not wandered over there out of curiosity. (If you are heading into town from the house, there is a turnoff for Tanumshede on the left just before you get to the Coop grocery store, which indicates a bike route. If you follow that for 1k or so, you are in heaven: woods, farms, etc.)
A very couzy cottage were you feel at home at once. Linnea was very friendly and helpful. She had prepared a lot of information on what we could do, including some maps of the surroundings. She also provided us with bikes which was very helpful when going shopping. The smooth cliffs at the sea are within walking distance.
