Interaction with Guests
If I'm home during your stay, my bedroom has it's own bath, and is nicely situated to provide privacy and serenity to the guest rooms. I'm adaptable to a wide range of interaction levels with guests; you set the tone.
The home is situated just 1.5 miles south of the shores of beautiful Lady Bird Lake, Zilker Park & Barton Springs Pool. You're less than a mile from the Barton Creek Green Belt. You are right in the middle of the transitioning, booming, exploding South Lamar (SoLa) neighborhood. There are 100 retail shops, restaurants, bars and entertainment venues alone on the 3.5-mile stretch of Lamar between Lady Bird Lake and Ben White Boulevard and more opening all the time. The influx has created some interesting contrasts — with boutique shops, trendy salons and hip restaurants coexisting with taxidermy shops and honky-tonks. If mexican food is your thing, this is smack dab in the middle of Tex-Mex heaven, folks. Easy walk to Austin Beer Garden Brewing Co., Olivia, Barley Swine tapas, Henri's wine and cheese, Lick ice cream, LuLu B's vietnamese, Horseshoe Lounge, El Meson, Black Sheep, Sezon, East Side King and a 24-hour CVS. A very short distance to Uchi, Odd Duck, Barlotta, Winebelly, Habanero, Matt's El Rancho, Maria's Taco Village, Torchy's Tacos, Gordough's Public House & Kerby Lane Cafe. So, so many more . . .
Uber and Car2Go are available and it's a 5-minute walk from my home to the Rapid Bus stop. You are 3 miles from the intersection of 6th Street and Congress, the heart of downtown: 10 minutes by car, 20 minutes by bike, and 25 minutes by bus.
The city offers a help-yourself rental bike system in the CBD. Look up Austin B-cycle.
You can often pick up a Car2Go within walking distance of my home and park it right out front when you're finished. Car2Go is also a great way to get to my house from the airport. Take the free shuttle to the Parking Spot.
Super Shuttle is a shared ride service that takes up to 10 passengers at a time to and from the airport. It's about half the cost of a taxi. You'll find the Super Shuttle counter in the rental car area or call ahead for a rez.

Doug was an amazing host! Not only was he very friendly and helpful in all things Austin, but his home is amazing and welcoming as well. He was nice enough to share his two bikes with us and give tips on things to do and places to see. If you want to relax under the sun on the rooftop patio or party downtown in a short Uber, his house is a great place to crash!
I stayed with many airbnb's but this one was by far the best. The pictures here on airbnb are more like an understatement - the entire home looked like it was designed by an interior designer and every piece just fit to the other one. Doug himself was the perfect host. Always responsive and very helpful when it came to discovering the neighbourhood. Whenever I needed something he was there to address my needs. All in all I had a great time in Doug's home. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
I really enjoyed my stay here and the whole experience from booking to leaving was seamless. The place is really nice, well located, and Doug is a great host. I arrived and was impressed with how clean and prepared everything was - I felt like I was staying at a hotel. There's a lot within walking distance too. Doug even gave me a recommendation for music venue just two blocks away and it ended up being one of the highlights of my trip. I'd definitely stay here again.
I stayed for a longer than expected period of time for work which was made so much easier by staying at Doug's condo. As always he is the perfect host and very accommodating. Would absolutely refer him to anyone needing a place to stay in South Austin.
Another stay at Doug's condo and another terrific experience. The best kind of host you could ask for.
Doug once again made my stay in Austin a comfortable one. There's no better place to stay!
Where do I even start! I booked fairly last minute and Doug was very prompt. Prior to my arrival, I was provided the necessary instructions to make my check in process a breeze. Once I arrived to the house, I was greeted with a friendly host who went above and beyond. The space itself felt like a high-end hotel with a very comfortable bedroom and immaculately clean bathroom. If, no rather when I'm back in Austin I will definitely be coming back!

I'm an easy-going guy who loves indie music, mexican food and mid-century design. I want to provide a peaceful, clean and comfortable environment for your visit. I've lived in Austin for more than 30 years, and in the SoLa neighborhood for four, and I'm happy to help you find just the right restaurants, bars and other hot spots that will make your visit memorable.
