The space
Escape to a quiet slice of coastal Maine where comfort, privacy, and river views come together in one place. Our cottage sits directly on the Penobscot River, where tides surge as much as 18 feet in a single cycle and the river reliably reverses direction. The moving water reshapes the shoreline, shifting the view throughout the day. Dramatic. Powerful. Unmistakably coastal Maine. Between tidal shifts, slack water brings moments of absolute calm, making it a peaceful place for unwinding, exploring, and slowing down.
The main cottage welcomes you with an open layout and plenty of natural light. Large windows frame the river, and the cherry floors, marble counters, and quality appliances make the kitchen a great place to cook or simply gather. You’ll find four ways to make coffee along with more than fifteen teas and hot chocolate options. The wood pellet grill makes outdoor cooking simple and delivers rich, full flavor every time.
Upstairs, the owner’s suite feels bright and airy thanks to skylights that bring in soft daylight. The master bath, with on-demand hot water and high-end amenities, makes it a comfortable retreat after a day exploring Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, Mount Desert Island, or the nearby nature trails and Pensobscot Bay towns.
Step outside and you’re met with fresh air, wide-open water views, and the steady rise and fall of the tide beneath the deck. Rocking chairs on the deck are perfect for morning coffee, and soft throw blankets keep things cozy on cooler evenings. You’ll often spot sailboats, tugboats, fishing boats, and the occasional cruise ship gliding past. When the sun begins to set, the fire pit with Adirondack chairs becomes the best place to unwind and stargaze.
Nearby marinas make it easy to get out on the water, whether you’re boating, fishing, or looking for a bit of adventure. With the vibrant city of Bangor just a short drive away, you'll have access to a wealth of cultural delights, from theater and fine dining to charming boutiques and galleries.
With convenient access to Bangor International Airport and iconic destinations such as Acadia National Park, Mount Desert Island, and Mid-Coast Maine just a stone's throw away, our cottage is the perfect home base for your coastal adventure.
The cottage offers complete privacy, a great location, and an easy, comfortable way to experience coastal Maine without the crowds. To see more of the property and local tips, find and follow us on IG or FB at @cozycottageinme.
