The guest house is a large rambling ranch style home in the vineyards of Napa Valley. It is located on a 500+ acre ranch with an onsite winery.
The house has a large commercial kitchen, a large common living room with a fireplace and a glassed in dining room. There are front and back decks with great views of Chiles Valley (our narrow and picturesque valley within the Napa Valley, with ancient oaks, cascading hills and vineyards.)
Enjoy our natural setting where wildlife abounds and the only sounds you hear are your footsteps and the wide variety of birds in the forest.
Wake up to a full country breakfast, take a deep breath and experience the fresh morning air; walk thru the vineyards with our labradors; take a run along the county road or hike to the top of the hill.

Guests enjoy the common areas of the guest house. We serve a full breakfast every morning.
Interaction with Guests
We live on the property but not in the guest house. There may be guests staying in the other rooms. We prepare breakfast and we offer wine and hors d'oeuvres in the evening.
Susan's guest house is located at the peaceful part of the Napa Valley right in the middle of the winery and a horse ranch. Therefore the this place was able to offer everything we wanted for last days of our honeymoon in California. The weather was far more warm than in nearby San Francisco, if you´re looking for the sun! We had wine tastings at Susan's winery (the Chardonnay is just great) and watched the gorgeous racing horses. We stayed at the Poolside Room which was decorated with a lovely combination of horse and native american style. The room had a nice bathroom with a skylight window. This room has also a straight access to the pool where we spend most of our afternoons. As Napa Valley's sun offered its best during the afternoon, we took a dip in the pool to cool down. You may also see some hummingbirds flying around the tree right to the pool. The breakfast offered was just superb with diverse selection of eggs, meat and fresh fruits. This property also offers nice activities such as hiking trails to the hill nearby and a tennis court (currently you might find it a bit worn out but we found it as a great surprise nevertheless). Lake Berryessa is a short drive away where it is possible to rent kayaks, paddle boards or even jet skis. Downtown St. Helena is a 15-20 minutes drive away where we found great restaurant, Tra Vigne to mention as one of the best ones we tried during our honeymoon in California! All in all we enjoyed our stay really well and this was a very good spot to just be and relax fully. The hosts Susan and Jim were extremely social and friendly and gave us all the tips we wanted to have. We can highly recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing or romantic getaway on the countryside!

Our secluded property, once a large thoroughbred horse and black angus ranch, was purchased by my family in 1972. Now it reflects my husband's and my two passions: wine and horses. We continue to breed and race thoroughbreds and each spring; just about the time new buds form on the grape vines, new foals are born.
The guesthouse is a rambling ranch style home with racing memorabilia, antiques, a large commercial style kitchen, wonderful views, decks, vegetable garden and pool area. We have been hosting guests here for 24 years. We have met wonderful people who have become great friends. Most people who stay here have an adventuresome spirit. They are risk takers and like to meet new people. Your experience here will not be ordinary, we would venture to say it will be extraordinary and memorable.
The grapes were first planted in the mid 70's. We grow Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel and Petite Sirah. The winery was founded by my brothers Stan and Grant in 1985. It is housed in a renovated hay storage barn. We took over the reins of the operations in 1990. I am the winemaker and Jim is the vineyard manager and horseman. Helping us handcraft the estate-bottled wines produced by RustRidge is distinguished winemaker Kent Rosenblum aka Dr. Zin. Vines are organically grown and dry farmed, we have some of the oldest vines in Napa Valley!
Jim and I along with our three dogs, fourteen cats and seventeen horses invite you to experience our unique lifestyle, enjoy great wines and unwind in our idyllic environment.
