Welcome to our beautiful home in the fabulous village of Chelsea, Quebec – 4 seasons of outdoor fun in the Gatineau Park! We are a warm and welcoming family. This is a great spot for you if you love the peace and beauty of the country and the convenience of close proximity to the city.
Our home was built in 2010 by custom builders. The design is a nod to Cape Cod style with modern and elegant finishes nestled in the forest. Our home includes 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and open concept living with lots of natural light. There are hardwood floors on two floors and carpeting on the lower level. Our home has large beams, many windows, a walk out lower level, an 8-person hot tub and a wood fireplace to keep us cozy in the winter.
Our custom designed kitchen is a chef’s dream, with professional grade appliances, including a BBQ on an adjacent screened-in porch.
There are two rooms available for guests($100 / room / night, maximum 2 people per room) :
The Forest Room can be reserved through a separate listing (www.airbnb.ca/rooms/1080691). It is a large bedroom with a comfortable queen bed suffused with natural light and surrounded by trees. This bedroom is on the main floor and is adjacent to a full bathroom with a shower.
The Getaway can be reserved through this listing. It is a very large, private bedroom with a comfortable queen bed. There is an adjacent, private ½ bath and a private entrance (outside of snow season). It is located on the lower walkout level of the house with the hot tub and family room – where you can relax and watch a movie. A bathroom with a shower is located on the main floor.
We are in the heart of the Gatineau Park, with access to trails right from our front door. In the summer you can walk, hike, bike, swim, paddle and go on beautiful scenic drives. In the winter, there are hundreds of kilometers of world-class cross-country skiing (classic and skate), downhill skiing, tobogganing, and snowshoeing.
It is an easy 2 km walk into the beautiful village of Old Chelsea, where you will find shopping, restaurants, cafes and pubs, gift shops, art galleries, an ice cream shop, a grocery store, hardware store and the Nordik spa. See guidebook for more details.
It is a short 15 minute drive into downtown Ottawa, where you can find all the arts and culture of a capital city. There is public transit (2 buses into Ottawa in the morning, two return in evening) that you catch at the bottom of our road.
We look forward to meeting you.

We spent 4 comfortable nights in Jacki and Eric'c beautiful light filled home. The location was perfect for us as it was so close to our daughter. We got to view the first snow of the season falling on the trees of the lovely bush that surrounds the house. We were made to feel very welcome and truly "at home". Thanks so much!
We had absolutely awesome two days at Jacki and Eric's dream house, from the response time to our short notice booking (same day), the warm welcome, totally comfortable getaway, a home away from home to the amazing hot tub. Everything was perfect! We Highly recommend this beautiful place, hosts and surroundings.

Lovely family and gorgeous house in a beautiful wooded setting.
They are a young family so if you need quiet beyond 7 am book the getaway room downstairs. The forest room is on the main floor by the kitchen and front door so you will hear the young chatter.
We had a lovely visit with the hosts and went for a lovely walk to a waterfall the next day.
Upon arriving and having walked all over ottawa it was great to have a soak in the hot tub.
We came as guests and left as friends who hope to meet again.
My wife and I just got back from a great weekend at Eric & Jackie's. Just a very short drive from some super hiking in Gatineau Park and then back to the house to enjoy the hot tub and drinks by the fire table. Wonderful house.
This was an awesome space! Very warm and welcoming. We had the best night's sleep we've had in many many years! The room was great with awesome views into the woods - very peaceful!. Eric and Jacki were so accommodating and sweet! Definitely would recommend this spot!
If you're the anxious light sleeper type like me, this is the place you'll find deep deep rest. Dark. Silent night.
Quiet and peaceful atmosphere full of this soft joy and positive vibe only kids are able to bring!
Thanks again! I'll be back for sure!
Once upon a time, 2 french guys were travelling between Montréal, Toronto and Ottawa. They were tired of cities and wanted to go in the nature. Then, Jacky came and picked them up to bring them in a wonderfull confortable big house in the wood.
Her family was really nice, friendly, helpfull, easygoing, easytalking and have a lot of stories to share.
The 2 men relaxed in this lovely peacefull place surrounded by trees.
Close to Gatineau park, they were able to hike thanks to their hosts, enjoying the lakes and looking for the bears.
They were sad to leave this place, but every good story has an end.
Thanks Jacky, Eric, Maya and Lola, take care.

Jacki and Eric moved to their new home in Chelsea, Quebec from their funky, Mexican-themed straw bale house in November 2012. Their first daughter, beautiful Maya Sol, arrived on Earth Day, 2010. Daughter number two, lovely Lola Jo, made her appearance on January 27, 2013.
They both enjoy being active, going to live music, and spending time with family and friends. They have experienced many life events together: whitewater wilderness canoe camping trips, the loss of their dogs, two trips to visit Eric’s 99 year-old grandmother in San Francisco, the loss of Jacki’s grandparents, trips to Mexico to visit friends Jacki made when she spent two years teaching in Queretaro, trips to London, England to visit friends of Eric’s, making maple syrup with neighbours and much time with family and friends close to home.
Jacki and Eric love the outdoors. Eric, in particular, loves hiking and cross-country skiing and is enjoying introducing his girls to these activities. Eric likes nothing more than to take his time making a nice meal on the weekend, enjoying a relaxed family dinner followed by a movie and a bowl of popcorn. Eric speaks English and French, and has an interest in environmental and social justice issues.
Jacki’s adult life has been shaped by her travels. Apart from Canada, she has lived in Italy, Spain and Mexico and has spent time in Cuba, Costa Rica and Ecuador. She has designed and taught her own global education class that involved taking high school kids down to Ecuador to work on community projects. She dreams of taking her own kids to volunteer around the world. Now that her life is of necessity more home-based, she wants to bring the world to her by opening her home to global travelers and is looking forward to meeting people through AirBnB.
Welcome to our home, we look forward to meeting you.
