Welcome to the Historic Western Suburbs in Downtown Lexington! Stay right on Main Street! You are two city blocks from Rupp Arena, The Old Distillery District, Buster's, the Mary Todd Lincoln House, and the booming Jefferson Street area.
A few blocks away is the booming Jefferson Street district, quickly becoming a hot spot in Lexington for quaint restaurants, new craft brews, good music and art.
The map on the main page shows the location which is a bit off. This house is right on Main street in the middle of the 700 block.
Arriving early or late? I have a lock box with a code to get the key to come and go as you please.
This "Shotgun Cottage" was built in 1899 and completely renovated in 2008 to have some of the most energy efficient appliances and lighting. It has an on demand water heater (never out of hot water), washer/dryer, with simple furnishings. I am renting the entire upstairs area when I travel. If you need more accommodation, check out my other listing for the front room! This is a basic, modest house.
You have a queen Tempurpedic bed and two chimney sky lights. The kitchen will be shared by all as well as the lower bathroom. You are on a busy route, so there's a fan near your bed if you're not used to hearing the sounds of the street. A word of caution: This ceiling in this room has a steep (45 degree) slope to it, so tall people may find it difficult not to bump their head on the shorter ends or dormer area.
The house also has a common area with another 42" TV with DVD player, a kitchen, a large travertine and glass shower, Wifi, and a bricked back yard.
You will be possibly sharing this house with me (or other airbnb guest renting the front room) and possibly my housemate, Bill, who's typically gone on the weekends. You will have your own room with toilet, sink, and claw foot tub. There is a shared bathroom on the first floor with a shower as well as a more private toilet. The parking is city parking, typically there's a spot in front of the house.
If additional sleeping arrangements is needed (in addition to the two people for this room), I have a queen air mattress which can be used in your large room.
I have several bicycles, helmets, and locks available for a small rental fee. Need an airport pick-up or drop-off? Let me pick you up; cheaper than a taxi! Please inquire when making reservations.
No pets are currently in the house and no pets allowed, sorry. Two night minimum stay.
I do travel often, but will often be available by phone. Also available are local maps, information on local points of interest and other goodies. Enjoy your stay!
The entire upstairs is yours. You do have a toilet, sink, and claw foot tub, which is in a very open plan. You have access to a shared shower, toilet, and sink downstairs. The kitchen is shared and available for your use as you please.
I can interact as little or as much as you please depending on your requirements. If I'm traveling, which is very often, I'm typically available through e-mail or phone. My housemate, Bill, is typically around Monday through Friday afternoon.
Also available are local maps, information on local points of interest and other goodies. Enjoy your stay!
The house is on Main Street, the major artery of the city in Western Historic Suburbs, the oldest neighborhood in Lexington. The neighborhood is a mix of activity with many houses renovating to their historic standards, new restaurants seem to establish on Jefferson Street (a few city blocks away) monthly, and a free trolley runs Weekdays at lunch and Thursday-Saturday in the evening. Since the house is on a main street, you get to see activities of small city life; one of my favorite activities is to sit on the front porch with my favorite beverage and watch life happen at the end of the day!
The airport is less than 6 miles (11 minutes) away and about a $20 base taxi ride.
The house is located less than a mile from the Lextran hub and the bus lines run near the house.
There's a free Colt Trolley by Lextran! More info here: (website hidden)
Airport rides and personal tours by request if I'm in town. I love to play tour guide! Bicycle, helmet, and locks available too upon request.
Please sign the giant guest vase before leaving!
Heather was a fantastic host, very accommodating and great at communicating with me. The apartment is within walking distance of the downtown core and is only a 10 minute drive from the airport, can you say convenient. The room looks just like the picture and was very comfortable. I was a little nervous about no door to the upstairs but her method to provide privacy worked perfectly. Thanks for a great stay and I would definitely stay with Heather again.
Heather was FANTASTIC!! She rolled out the carpet and was very welcoming during my two day stay. She knows a lot about Lexington and has tons of recommendations for what to do and where. I stayed upstairs. It was phenomenal! It was within walking distance to everything downtown.
The reservation was canceled 17 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
The house was nothing short of incredible and was very clean. The bathtub was beyond belief! Heather was very helpful in pointing out all the local hotspots and was an excellent host. I will stay here again next time I am in Lexington!
Heather was a very friendly and accommodating host. I had to drive through a blizzard to get to Lexington and was very frazzled at the end of the trip; she was very helpful in giving me directions and making me feel welcome when I arrived in town. I enjoyed getting to know her during the limited time we were able to hang out - very down-to-earth and personable. The house is exactly as described and the upstairs space is very comfortable and quaint - and one of the most comfortable beds ever! Heather also gave me some great suggestions for places to go. I would definitely recommend this place to others.
We stayed in Heather's upstairs room. We were in late and out early and did not see Heather, but she left instructions to get into the house and a great list of local places to grab dinner and a beer.
The upstairs was spacious and clean. The house was adorable and close to restaurants. Would stay again!
Stay with Heather was SO EASY! The place was really neat, she was super sweet. Stay here, it's a fun place! :)
We stayed for two nights in the upstairs room, which turned out to be very spacious, private, quiet, and comfortable. The space is perfectly fine for two people, there is a full bathroom downstairs (very nice) and a 1/2 bath that is in the unit... sorta... it's not enclosed, so we only used the sink for getting ready.
The ceiling is slanted (it's a finished attic, after all) but unless you're over 6' this won't really be an issue.
Easy street parking out front and a 10 min walk to downtown Lexington.
We didn't need to use the common area, but Heather was very welcoming and personable! Overall very good experience.
Great location near downtown and some great restaurants on Jefferson street. We didn't see Heather, but instructions on getting settled in were clear and simple. It was a fun house to stay in given its history. We came from living in the city of Chicago, but the upstairs was still very quiet. We would stay here again if we needed a place to stay in Lexington.
We booked two nights with Heather at the last minute (literally the morning-of) and she was very accommodating and communicative prior to check in. Her place is a nicely renovated old house, not quite as central to downtown as we had hoped, but still within walking distance to some things. She helpfully provided a nice written list with information about the house and places to go, things to do, etc. We loved the private tub, and the kitchen was adorable. The major downside for us was a lack of privacy relative to the rest of the house -- there is no door to the room, just a flimsy piece of cloth tossed over a curtain rod at the bottom of the stairs. Although her info sheet mentioned a second privacy curtain at the top of the stairs, we were unable to locate it. Another note is that the A/C did not work that well; there was a thermostat by the bed, but it did not seem to do anything. The portable fan helped, but it is essentially a converted attic, so it got quite toasty in July. Altogether, we were glad we were able to find accommodations on such short notice, but we did think the room was a bit overpriced considering the lack of privacy and heating issues.
