The Space

Surrounded by an old secret garden from 1923 lies our two bedroom, one full bath modern cottage. Newly renovated and professionally designed, this is a contemporary, yet cozy, Sonoma experience. On a quiet residential street, minutes to the Sonoma Square, and surrounded by the region's best wineries, restaurants, shops, parks and hiking/biking trails.

Each bedroom has a plush Queen bed with a memory foam topper, and French doors opening out to a wrap around deck and garden. The bathroom has a double vanity, soaking tub and heated floors. The fully equipped chef's kitchen has Viking appliances, a dishwasher, quartz counters and views to the front garden. The dinning and living area flow seamlessly from the kitchen, with additional views of the greenery. There are stain glass windows, custom light fixtures and hardwood floors throughout.

In the back garden, under an antique apple tree are lounge chairs, recliners and umbrellas perfect for enjoying a book or soaking up the sun. Beneath an old plum tree stands a family-style dinning table. Enjoy breakfast in the front garden with the sound of the rock fountain and the smell of jasmine and roses.

A bottle of wine and fresh flowers welcome you. PEET's French Press coffee and espresso, as well as selection of teas, are provided. Two bicycles, wi-fi, HDTV cable, HBO, and board games are furnished for your entertainment.

  • my experience here could not have been better - rachel was so kind in all of our correspondence and always replied promptly. the pictures are an accurate representation of how gorgeous the home is, even more so when you experience it in person. everything is appointed quite well with a lovely design aesthetic that provides a cozy environment. our group felt comfortable from the beginning - there was a great bottle of wine to welcome us in addition to the binder she had compiled to serve as a resource during our stay. i will absolutely hope to visit this home again during my next trip to wine country!

  • Loved this beautiful cottage! We stayed here for a girls' getaway weekend, and the space was just perfect for eating gourmet meals and hanging out. The beds were super comfy. Everything was in perfect condition!

  • This home is absolutely lovely and has everything you need for a great getaway. Rachel was available via email and text for any questions we had about the property, and always responded very promptly! I wish we had more time to spend there.

  • Do not second guess this gorgeous home, book it if available! The photos online looked gorgeous, but as many know, looks can sometimes be deceiving. Not in this case, however, The kitchen was immacculate with plenty of space and cooking utensils. Both bedrooms were extremely comfortable as well. There were four of us and we did not feel cramped one bit. The location to grocery stores, the square, restaurants, etc. was great, and the tour we book was able to pick us up at the house. The host was very responsive, answered all of my questions promptly, and left alot of valuable information about the area at the house as well. If you are looking for an amazing Sonoma experience, look no further.

  • Rachel was a great host. The place has everything down to the last detail and is comforting and relaxing. I wish I could have taken the bed home. The kitchen was perfectly equipped to cook a large meal should you decide to stay in which we did one night and ate in the private garden. The house is perfectly located if you're looking to do a wine tour, go to the town square or even pop over to napa or Petaluma. All in all it was a great experience and something we won't soon forget.

  • Clean, modern and spacious. Loved the open layout of the place. Rachel was a gracious host. She left us with a binder full of local recommendation and information about the house and the surrounding area. The backyard is really cute with many different areas to enjoy. My friends and I had an amazing weekend here.

  • Our stay in Sonoma was marvelous and it started by staying at such a lovely home. I wish I lived there! The owner left a bottle of wine to enjoy on our first night and it was a nice way to welcome my other friends who were staying the weekend. The beds were super comfy, we enjoyed having apples every morning from the tree out back, and there were lots of outside nooks to sit and read and enjoy the birds. Rachel was a great host, checking in with me before our trip and sending recommendations.

  • Our stay here was amazing! It was like a little slice of paradise. The pictures are true story...a clean aesthetic, beautifully appointed, and lots of creature comforts. We cooked breakfast both mornings and found that the kitchen fully supported our efforts. The patios are amazing - literally there are 5 or more different outdoor seating areas that wrap around the house from the entry to the back. Wonderful all the way through!

  • This house was a great find. Clean, modern and right in the middle of Sonoma. You really got a sense that they thought of every detail (thank you for the wine and coffee!). The kitchen was a treat, even just to open a bottle of wine and slice up some cheese. We had breakfast and pre-dinner drinks in the the sunny garden. The owners put together an insightful book with local recommendations where we found some great restaurants and wineries close by. We even did one of the hikes that Rachel told us about (she was great in helping us plan our trip and feel at home once we arrived). Would definitely come back on my next trip to California and would recommend this location to anyone visiting wine country.

  • The cottage is absolutely a gem!!! We highly recommended it!!! The property is tastefully decorated. It's modern and charming with lots of wonderful personal touches. We felt immediately at home when our host, Rachel, greeted us with freshly cut flowers. The house is well equipped for either a short or long stay. Everything is immaculate. The garden is definitely a plus and a perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine and unwind. The property is also less than 2 miles from downtown Sonoma. Wholefoods and Safeway is on the way.

We had a wonderful stay. Thank you, Rachel for sharing your lovely home with us.

As a child, my family hosted foreign students who came to San Francisco to learn English. So I guess you could say that I was raised to welcome strangers to my dinner table. My husband and I live in San Francisco, CA and The Hague, Netherlands. There is a Dutch word "Gezelligheid" which roughly translates to "Cozy." I like to think of it as the feeling you get when you walk in your front door. This easy comfort is how to best summarize how we travel and host--- renovated clean spaces, organized easy logistics, accessible conversation, and a dinner made with care to end the day. In our early 30s, my must-haves are a morning latte and sticky yoga matt, while Bas would be remise without his running shoes and Spotify. And of course, nothing makes us feel more "Gezelligheid" than the wagging of our rescue dog's tail.
