Interaction with Guests
You are on your own here, but we are available by phone for questions. There is also a cottage on the property that we use on occasion, so we may share the yard and we may see you there!
The house is in a residential neighborhood on the river. You can walk or bike to town (tho no sidewalks), or bike to Narragansett beach (part way on the bike path). The cute town of Wakefield has restaurants, shops, Brickley's Ice Cream (yum!), a bike path, a fabulous yoga studio, and a summer theater.
Within 15 min drive to URI , Amtrak, Block Island Ferry; 30 min to Providence or Newport.
Note: we are NOT walking distance to the beach. But biking is great and it's a very short car ride to Narragansett beach. Or drive to any of the 20 or so beaches on the southern RI shore!
Other Things to Note
The yard goes down to the river where there is a dock (so hold onto your kids!). Not a swimming spot, but kayak into Point Judith pond and find your own little island and swimming spot!
Sheets and towels are provided if needed. The house will be cleaned before your arrival and after departure. Please throw the sheets and towels into the washer and dryer before you leave if you can. Weekend guests:please wheel the trash and recycling bins out to the street for Monday morning pick up. Weekday guests: please wheel the bins back into the garage Monday evening. We expect you to treat this house as if it were your own, and leave it in similar condition to when you arrived, tho you will not need to sweep, vacuum or clean the bathrooms. There are bins for trash and recycling in the garage. Please be sure to pull grill into the driveway before use. This is a family neighborhood, so please be respectful of the neighbors re noise, etc.
Strictly no smoking in the house or on the grounds and absolutely no cats (we are very allergic!) Thank you!
Siamo partiti a malincuore.
We stayed at Joanne's house over a 5 days period. We had a great stay. Though we were a full house we had room for everybody in and outside the house. The modest but very well equipped cottage like house was confortable and easily accessible, close to Narrangasset beach. The beach gear made available to us was recent and of good quality, we enjoyed it during our whole stay. Joanne was eager to answer any of our question before and during our stay.
This house was great! It had all the amenities we needed for our week in the area, and was very comfortable. The beds in particular were really nice, and the grounds are gorgeous. The outdoor shower was AWESOME. Joanne was an attentive host, checking in with me regularly via text message, and her recommendations about what to see and where to eat were spot on.
The location couldn't have been better ... it was central to all the towns and parks we wanted to visit, and because it's just off Route 1 it was quick and easy to get around. All in all, it was a lovely stay and well worth the money. I would stay there again, and in fact I'm thinking about it for next summer.
Joanne was very helpful and available when we needed her. We arrived to fresh flowers on the table! The area was alot of fun..the town of Wakefield is a wonderful place to hang out at night with street musicians and little antique shops.
We had a great stay here. The home is quiet and in a beautifully wooded area. When we pulled up we were greeted by rabbits in the yard and swans on the river. Wakefield has a cute main street with a natural food shop, restaurants and we also found a yoga studio for those in need of that! The beaches are not far, a five minute drive to several options. The garage had boogie boards and beach chairs that we were thrilled to have. We also found Matunuck Oyster Bar - a must for those that want local seafood!
The house itself was great. The kitchen is one of the best stocked ones I've had a chance to use in a rental. All the tools, nice knives, and great pots and pans. The home is older and has a great feel. We really enjoyed the stay and will do it again when we are visiting the northeast!
We live in Northampton, MA but met in RI and love to be there... the air is so fresh, the grass so green...Just starting to work on the gardens there.
