Welcome to Bailey's Retreat, a respite from the rat race. Time stands still in our charming Civil War-era log cabin where Stonewall Jackson once enjoyed the panoramic Blue Ridge Mountain and Brown's Gap Valley views. Perched on 50 rustic acres in Ivy, Virginia, seven miles west of Charlottesville and seven miles east of Crozet, Bailey's Retreat offers scenic serenity for nature lovers, artists, writers, sportsmen or city slickers who simply want to unwind. Or not. Mere minutes from the University of Virginia, Monticello, Skyline Drive, Wintergreen, wineries and breweries, the cabin conveniently sits in the center of regional tourist attractions that fan out in four directions.
Lovingly and rustically restored, our 600sf cabin features an original stone fireplace, ladder-accessed queen sleeping loft, micro-kitchen, and a charming claw footed bath where you can sink down and soak it all in. A beamed ceiling, wood flooring, plaster walls and period details evoke the simplicity of an earlier era while an ample front porch provides plenty of shade. A backdrop of birdsong invites you to think, write, paint, strum, or gin up games to enjoy an unplugged existence.

The cabin was even more beautiful in person. The view is absolutely incredible and next time we will be sure to take advantage of the pool!
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Bailey's Retreat Cabin just for a night for a little day trip to Charlottesville. It is an adorable little cabin that is convenient to most things in the area and a wonderful, cozy place to relax an rest your head. Though we did not actually meet Roseanne and Bill, they provided all of the instructions and amenities we needed for our getaway, as well as contact information in case we did need to get in touch with them. Overall, an extremely pleasant experience. I will be returning to this lovely cabin very soon!
We had an amazing stay at Bailey's Retreat. Bill and Roseanne were such thoughtful hosts, and we had the opportunity to speak with Bill in-person briefly to hear a bit about the history of the cabin. We chose Bailey's Retreat for our honeymoon, where we were hoping to relax, enjoy the mountains, and beauty of the Shenandoah Valley, and it was perfect! Enjoying the sunsets and views from the cabin will be one of our favorite memories. We couldn't have asked for a more peaceful, beautiful, and special place to stay for our honeymoon. Bailey's Retreat is located perfectly between Shenandoah National Park, many breweries and vineyards, and Charlottesville. We were able to go to all of these areas easily from the cabin. Bill and Roseanne were incredibly helpful and if we ever had a question, got back to us quickly. The cabin felt so homey, clean, and welcoming. We enjoyed the fireplace at night, as well. Bailey's Retreat is really a special place, we look forward to coming back to Bailey's Retreat again!
What a sensational view and cool place to stay. Roseanne & Bill couldn't have been more accommodating. Short drive to town.
Roseanne and Bill were incredible hosts! They left small personal notes and touches in every corner of the cabin to make us feel welcome and at home. They even left a basket of snacks and luxurious amenities for the bathtub. Everything look as great or better than it did in the pictures and the view was fantastic. We can't wait to go back, and hopefully for longer than one night next time!
Another wonderful stay at Baileys Retreat Cabin! Would highly recommend to anyone.
Our hosts where very helpful, accommodating our arrival needs and meeting us when we got there. Everything we needed for a quite retreat was there.
