The space

Welcome to Bailey's Retreat, a respite from the rat race. Time stands still in our charming Civil War-era log cabin where Stonewall Jackson once enjoyed the panoramic Blue Ridge Mountain and Brown's Gap Valley views. The cabin is "unplugged" please enjoy a break from wifi. Perched on 50 rustic acres in Ivy, Virginia, seven miles west of Charlottesville and seven miles east of Crozet, Bailey's Retreat offers scenic serenity for nature lovers, artists, writers, sportsmen or city slickers who simply want to unwind. Or not. Mere minutes from the University of Virginia, Monticello, Skyline Drive, Wintergreen, wineries and breweries, the cabin conveniently sits in the center of regional tourist attractions that fan out in four directions.

Lovingly and rustically restored, our 600sf cabin features an original stone fireplace, ladder-accessed queen sleeping loft, micro-kitchen, and a charming claw footed bath where you can sink down and soak it all in. A beamed ceiling, wood flooring, plaster walls and period details evoke the simplicity of an earlier era while an ample front porch provides plenty of shade. A backdrop of birdsong invites you to think, write, paint, strum, or gin up games to enjoy an unplugged existence.

**If the cabin isn't available or your looking for a little more space please see our Cottage listing.

Other things to note

Welcome to Bailey's Retreat Cabin!

A few things to make your stay most comfortable.

The mini split air conditioning/heater unit is operated by the white remote control located on the table. In the event the mini split is not providing enough heat, the gas fireplace is your supplement. Please turn the unit off when not in use.

The tub is for soaking, please stay seated when rinsing with the wand.

Coffee and supplies are in the china hutch. Mr. Coffee maker in kitchen.

If you need to remove garbage, please take it to the green cans located by the garage. No need to separate your recycling. Our service provider takes care of it at their facility.

The porch light switch is outside below the fixture and should be left on if you leave the cabin and expect to return after dark.

We provide all firewood for the fire pit.

Baileys Retreat is a 50 acre mountain estate so please enjoy all of it, mountain views, pavilion, and terraces. Ivy West farm is a private working farm in the retreat and does not allow visitors.

This is such a unique and wonderful place for a romantic getaway. The cabin was so neat and the serene views really got us to take step out of our day to day busy lives and just relax. We had a fire in the fire pit and sat outside talking and looking at the views for hours in the morning. Also, it was very close to Shenandoah National park and wineries, we visited both. We plan to go back.

Beautiful historic cabin with an amazing view of the mountains. Super easy to get to from town, too. I would highly recommend a stay!

What an experience! Roseanne and Bill's quiet cabin is truly a joy to behold. Quaint, quiet, clean, unique, and memorable, we stayed at Bailey's Retreat for our Honeymoon and were greeted with love and open arms by both host and hostess and felt welcomed from the start. Charlottesville and all of it's shops and restaurants and events are only about 15 minutes away from the cabin, even though it seems a world away when you are enjoying the serenity of the mountain in Ivy where the cabin is perched. We absolutely will be returning to Bailey's Retreat again; perhaps for our anniversary!
