The space
Welcome to Bailey's Retreat, a respite from the rat race. Time stands still in our charming Civil War-era log cabin where Stonewall Jackson once enjoyed the panoramic Blue Ridge Mountain and Brown's Gap Valley views. The cabin is "unplugged" please enjoy a break from wifi. Perched on 50 rustic acres in Ivy, Virginia, seven miles west of Charlottesville and seven miles east of Crozet, Bailey's Retreat offers scenic serenity for nature lovers, artists, writers, sportsmen or city slickers who simply want to unwind. Or not. Mere minutes from the University of Virginia, Monticello, Skyline Drive, Wintergreen, wineries and breweries, the cabin conveniently sits in the center of regional tourist attractions that fan out in four directions.

Lovingly and rustically restored, our 600sf cabin features an original stone fireplace, ladder-accessed queen sleeping loft, micro-kitchen, and a charming claw footed bath where you can sink down and soak it all in. A beamed ceiling, wood flooring, plaster walls and period details evoke the simplicity of an earlier era while an ample front porch provides plenty of shade. A backdrop of birdsong invites you to think, write, paint, strum, or gin up games to enjoy an unplugged existence.

We are Roseanne and William Bailey, proprietors of this side of the mountain that's been in our family for more than a century. We live, here on the Retreat at the top of the ridge. This is William's childhood home. After 30years away he returned home. We left our super busy lifestyle in Richmond and are happy to be in the quiet countryside.

During your stay

We are considerate hosts providing enough privacy for a pleasant stay yet ample support if need be. We live with our two children in the main house about 50 yards from the cabin. The entrance to the cabin faces away from the main house so your space is private. The fire pit is also yours, located just off the front porch of the cabin with plenty of fire wood and 2 Adirondack chairs for relaxing.
