The Space


Our poolside guesthouse has a separate entrance from the main house and can be accessed from the street without disturbing the residents of the house. The guesthouse has two bedrooms and a private shower bathroom. The larger room has a queen bed. The smaller room has a bunk with a twin over full. See pictures. The larger room opens to and overlooks our swimming pool (solar heated in summer), which is available to guests. You are always renting the entire guesthouse.

Free and easy street parking.

AMENITIES: Very high-speed Wifi, and 32-inch Cable TV with HBO (not HD). Free Laundry Facilities.

FOOD: The room has a coffee-maker and a microwave and there is a coffee shop less than 100 meters away. You will have a fridge/freezer and a butane cook-top. We can also provide pots and pans, plates and bowls, and knives and forks. There are a dozen restaurants within walking distance.

BIKES -- We have a selection of bikes you can borrow including one electric bike, which guests really enjoy, along with locks and helmets. (You are responsible for ensuring the bike is safe to use, we are not a bike shop.)

PRIVACY: The guesthouse is at the back of the property, so we are not likely to disturb you. However, we are a busy household with 5 children ages 11 and up and a small dog. You may hear trumpet or saxophone practice or encounter any of these friendly children or their friends in the backyard, playing basketball, swimming in the summer, or playing some other silly games. Most guests tell us the room is very quiet, but we don't guarantee that.

TWO ROOM LAYOUT: One of the pictures is my attempt to show the layout of the rooms. As you can see the two rooms are both connected to the one bathroom. These two room are always rented together. You will not be sharing the bathroom with someone you don't know.

The price quoted is always for the entire two-room suite. However, if you intend to use the beds in the second room, you need to book for at least 3 people. That is, if there are two of you and you are not going to share the queen bed, book for three people.

DOGS/ PETS. We have a small white Maltese who roams the ground and is quite friendly, but if you are not a dog-lover, she usually gets the message if you tell her to go away. Please do not invite her onto the bed. Her name is Snowball.

You are allowed to bring your own dog, but you must pick up after him or her and dogs are not allowed on the furniture. (You must inform us in advance of any pets). We will charge you as if you had an additional person for each pet. So if you are three people and have a dog, book for 4 people. Minimum price for one pet is 3 people.

NO LIFEGUARD ON DUTY: The suite opens directly on to the swimming pool. (About 12 feet from the door to the edge of the pool.) Be aware of this if you have children or cannot swim. Also the pool is often covered in the summer to keep it warm, which can make falling in even more dangerous. There is no fence around the pool, and occasionally we can forget to leave the outside lights on at night. (This has never been a problem for anyone, but . .

Guest Access

We don't guarantee that the room will be cleaned until after 3pm on the day of arrival. Otherwise you can check-in anytime after 11am until well past midnight. If we are not home or it is very late, you will be asked to follow the written directions given to you when you confirm. The guesthouse has a changeable combination lock and you will be given the combination. Guest do not have access to the main house.

Interaction with Guests

We are a friendly bunch and will interact with you if you are interested in interacting with us. However, we understand that many guests are here just to get away and spend time with each other so the amount of interaction will very much depend upon you.

The Neighborhood

VERY LOCAL ATTRACTIONS: We are less than two miles from the nightlife in Belmont shore (2nd Street), or lovely Seal Beach. There are great walks or short bike rides around the local waterways.

BEACHES. We are less than 2 miles from the beach. A short bike ride in the summer will help you avoid the hassle of parking.

Getting around

LOCATION. Airbnb provides the location on its maps. Click on maps above the photos. We are in Long Beach about a 30 minute drive from LAX, Downtown LA or Disneyland, all of which are in different directions from here. You can find us on (website hidden) maps at "7th and PCH 90814, USA"

Many of our guests use this as a base to visit L.A., Disneyland, Universal Studios and all other Southern California attractions. We also highly recommend checking out the local shopping and beaches. We are a bike ride away from the Long Beach Aquarium and the Queen Mary. This is a fabulous place to visit.

VISITING LA. If this is your first visit to Southern California and you intend to travel to see the sights, you should know that the sites in Los Angeles are spread out and it is very useful to have a car. A popular day trip for our guests is to go to Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica and Venice Beach. This loop is nearly 100 miles..

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION. There are several bus stops within a short walk of the guesthouse. You can get to almost anywhere, but it can take a long time. (website hidden) maps provides details on getting around using public transportation. Just put in "7th and PCH 90814" as your starting or ending point.

  • Trevligt ställe med en gullig liten hund som sällskap, rekommenderas. Dock tar det väldigt lång tid att komma till tex Hollywood, 1,5 timme med bil, så om man vill befinna sig centralt i LA så är det nog bättre att kosta på sig en natt där och sen åka till Cohens fina hus i strandnära Long beach och njuta av det fina vädret.

  • This place was awesome! Wonderful pool that was so fun to swim in and it was so great hanging out in the lovely backyard with the lemon and avocado tree. Paula, Ronan, and their family were super nice and helpful. The pool house had everything we needed, and the bed was very comfy. The neighborhood is perfect with several great walking beaches nearby, wonderful shops and restaurants, and very convenient to hwy 1. We would have loved to stay longer! Highly recommended!

  • Logement conforme à la description. Propriétaires sympas et pas trop invasifs.
    Le bungalow est en fait un ancien garage transformé. Pas énormément de place surtout dans la petite chambre. Le WC est dans la piece de douche qui sert de pièce de communication entre les 2 chambres, ce qui est parfois un peu gênant. mais il est possible de sortir de la 2eme chambre via ce qui reste de garage (avec les vélos, machines à laver, frigo...).

  • Deux petites chambres avec une salle de bain et toilettes entre les deux. Endroit à une heure de los angeles et 20 minutes des plages au sud. Pour le prix c'est un bon rapport qualité prix . Point positif :aucun parking a payer !!!!! Et ce n'est pas négligeable . Quoi qu il en soit ne vous attendez pas au luxe . Je vous le conseille .

  • My brother and me spent a week in the guesthouse and it was simply perfect!. Paula and Ronan are really beautiful host, they helped us to feel at home and provided everthing we need.
    We are totally satisfied of the time spent in their house and we hope in the future to meet them again.

  • The place was clean, and the main room is cosy, fitting 2 people comfortably. The landlords were friendly too. The place is also ideally located if you are exploring LA and the other areas further south. For the very affordable price, I would recommend this place.

  • The guesthouse perlect for that little money. The landlords are nice and open. It's not really wheelchair accesible (steps and narrow doors), but for me it was absolutele fine.

  • We had a great time at Paula and Ronan's. Walking distance to delicious food, and we even caught the Chocolate Festival as a lovely surprise.

    The area was spacious and had everything we needed. Their adorable little Maltese dog Snowball made it hard to leave on checkout day though, demanding all of the pettings and being super cute.

    We will keep Paula and Ronan's spot in mind when planning our next little get-away. It was perfect!

We are from California and U.K. That's Paula and our oldest daughter in the picture. You can find a picture of Ronan among those of the guesthouse. We love to travel, seek adventure and meet knew people. We are friendly, outgoing and open to trying new things. We have been hosting for three years and have met many wonderful people.
