About this listing
The furniture has been rearranged since this photo was take and there is a new wood burning stove to replace the little green one.
Sweet restored stockade style log cabin right on Haller Lake. You would never know you were within the Seattle city limits! Haller Lake is a quiet, natural spring fed 15 acre lake surrounded by private homes.
Custom woodwork inside with artful touches. Sleeps 2 upstairs in full sized bed. Main floor has comfy sofa, kitchenette with microwave, single induction burner cooktop, coffee maker, toaster and small refrigerator, teapot, dishes and glasses; 3/4 bath with new stone tile shower; we have Wi-Fi!
This cabin is heated mainly with the wood fireplace. The photos show the old wood stove. You can now watch the flames and there is a fan to spread the heat around a little better. There is also a deLonghi oil heater to add a little more heat when needed. There is no TV but there is WiFi. Bring slippers, the stone floor gets chilly.
Fish from the dock or take a ride in the paddleboat. We just got a canoe! (The boats are out of the water in the winter).
No pets please! We are now living in the main house. We have an Australian Shepherd and a flock of chickens (the dog and chickens do not come into the cabin, just in case you were wondering)
Parking is shared with the main house. It's close to Northgate Shopping Mall with shops, restaurants and Thornton Place Cinema. A few blocks to Northwest Hospital and the new proton center (look up ProCure Center)
The lake is about 15-20 minutes from downtown Seattle via I-5 or highway 99 (can be a bit more in heavy traffic). Bus route #346 has a stop at the end of the driveway.
If you are interested in having a party or many friends over, please clear it with us before making your reservation. We have limited parking and there is no parking down our communal access road.
Check out by noon, Check in no earlier than 2pm, sometimes later if I can't get the cabin ready because of work. To be agreed upon according to schedule. If you want an early morning check-in, please book the night before.
no smoking, no candles (we have battery powered candles), strip bed of sheets and pillow cases, fold the blankets and put all dirty linen and towels in shower or by door upon checkout. Wash your dishes, take trash and recycle up to garbage cans by the garage. Please leave the cabin as clean as when you arrived.
If you use the barbecue, please clean it out. (ashes cannot go in the trash though...)
Roberta & Dan were very helpful and welcoming. A short jaunt from their off street parking to their little rustic cabin by the lake was a trip to the country without leaving the city. It was peaceful, serene, forested park atmosphere on a sweet small lake. Thank you Gerd
This listing was exactly as described. It is a bit a walk from parking to the cabin so for those with limited mobility a caveat would be in order. Roberta was very accommodating and pleasant to talk with. I have already recommended this lovely cabin to friends I think would like it.
This magical cabin was made even better by the beautiful pristine lake and warm and accommodating hosts. A big thank you to Roberta and Dan for their hospitality. The cabin was well stocked, clean, and super comfortable. I will treasure our time there and hope we can return one day! Only 15 minutes from downtown Seattle but a world away. Very tranquil and peaceful.
Beautiful and quaint cabin right on the lake! Hosts went above and beyond to make us comfortable. I highly recommend and would come back!
The location is perfect. Quiet neighborhood with easy access to downtown Seattle. Roberta and Dan are welcoming, generous, and friendly without being intrusive. It's hard to imagine a more perfect setting. Sitting in a big, comfy stuffed chair in the cozy upstairs bedroom, looking out onto the lake, trees, birds. I swam everyday off the private dock. Water temperature was perfect and since there are no motorized boats allowed, swimming to your heart's content is safe and relaxing. I travel to Seattle often, and as long as the cabin is available, it's where I will be staying from now on.
Roberta and Dan were great hosts - they gave us a tour of the cabin and made themselves available for whatever we needed. The cabin is conveniently located near the Seattle center, many restaurants, and grocery stores. We loved having the lake in our backyard and having the canoe and paddle boat to use whenever we wanted! We were lucky enough to get some sunny days there and spotted some turtles across the lake, an osprey, and a kingfisher!
