On the nearby trail, you can ride easily to OMSI, downtown, The Pearl or the Rose Garden without much if any elevation change.
Sellwood is a very quiet, easily walkable neighborhood. There are restaurants, coffee houses, parks and bike trails within easy reach.
There is a bus line that stops a block and a half away. I also recommend that visitors try Car2Go, as it allows them to pick up a rental car in the neighborhood and drop off at their destination within the Portland area. The Little House was located in a quiet neighborhood and it was a perfect rest stop after days on the road.
Judd was very nice and hospitable. The Sellwood neighborhood was very lovely as well.
All in all, the stay provided us with much rejuvenation needed for the road ahead. Thank you for sharing this beautiful and quiet place with us! 'Till we (hopefully) meet again!
Wonderful like always, quiet neighborhood, good food close by, easy access to downtown Portland, and very nice hosts!
My husband and I stayed at the Little House this past July. The listing is about a 15-20 minutes drive to downtown Portland and a couple minutes by foot to Sellwood. The Little House is perfectly situated to great coffee shops, eateries and grocery stores.
The Little House really was perfect for our summer getaway. A comfortable bed, air conditioning, great shower and lovely patio table right outside to enjoy during the afternoon or evening.
We really appreciated Cheryl (our interim host while Judd was away) and her accommodating us with beach towels and a cooler for our trip out to Cannon Beach.
Incredible stay and we hope to come again soon!
Little House is a truly beautiful space. It is gorgeous -- bright, well-appointed, comfy&cozy, and luxurious… we wanna buy one of those beds… The Sellwood area is a treat in and of itself, with a variety of restaurants&pubs, cute shops, a well-stocked market, and it's not far from the river, plus parks. Such a friendly neighbourhood. Our Portland adventure took place during a relative heat wave - temperatures hovered around 97,98,99 fahrenheit - but the AC in our little house saved us! Next time we visit Portland there is no doubt where we will want to stay!!
It is amazing experience to stay - everything is well equipped and prepared, felt cozy all time while staying. Host was very responsive that I haven't had any problems.
The Little House is an ideal place to stay in the Sellwood neighborhood . Our host, Judd, greeted us and explained and ins and outs of the unit which is comfortable with Air-Conditioning (most welcome on a 100 degree day). It is clean and bright and has nice amenities. The neighborhood is ideal for walking to a superb grocery store - New Seasons - coffee shops, antiquing and we recommend enjoying great Oregon brews and wine! We highly recommend The Little House.
Simply put, This tiny house is awesome! The neighborhood is really quiet, yet easy to get downtown from. The Murphy bed was really cool to see in action, and the bed itself was amazing. Portland as a city is amazing, and this house made it so much more memorable. If we're ever in town we're definitely going to stay here again.
About the Host, Judd
We are a family of three, Judd, Monica and our daughter, Amelia. We live in Portland, Oregon, in the southeast neighborhood of Sellwood. Our neighborhood is located close to the Willamette River that is within walking distance to parks, restaurants, coffee shops, antique stores, galleries, bike shops, library, etc. The Springwater trail is very close by that is a bike corridor to the downtown area and beyond, both east and west. As previously mentioned, we have two bike shops that rent bikes for the day, whether you want to meander or put on serious milage on a high end bike. The food choices available include two Italian restaurants, Vietnamese, Asian fusion, sushi, Greek/Mediterranean, plus pizza and bar grub all within short walking distance.
As hosts, we have a detached private, studio dwelling with a pull down Murphy bed that features a Tempur-pedic mattress, kitchenette with stovetop and microwave, full bath with glassed in shower and heated floors. HDTV with Blu-ray player with surround sound. Other amenities include outdoor seating for summer dining in the patio/garden.
As guests, we enjoy exploring local life and interests, especially dining, bicycling, swimming, shopping, art galleries, and my own personal interest: nearby coffee shops. I love my coffee and always find out something new from visiting with the local clientele. We love to travel with our daughter to new places around the world, whether it is Asia or Europe or the backroads of the United States. Our daughter is well traveled and gets along with everyone. We are easy going and will always pick up after ourselves, as we feel it is our obligation not to leave a mess behind us.
