Antique shoppers delight in very walkable neighborhood with grocery store, restaurants, coffee shops, antique stores, galleries, bars, bike stores, etc. Nearby is Springwater Trail which connects walkers, cyclists and joggers to downtown Portland and beyond. Sellwood Park has swimming pool, playground, tennis courts and playing fields with wooded trails to Oaks Bottom for bird watching and other wildlife.
Near to the park is Oaks Park Amusement Park, a Coney Island-like amusement center with rides ranging from carousels to roller coasters. It also has a roller skating rink and also hosts Roller Derby matches at various times of the year. For golfers, beautiful Eastmoreland Public Golf course is just over a mile away.
We live one half block from the main thoroughfare in the neighborhood, 13th Avenue, which has a library, banks, local goods, salons, and food carts. The neighborhood is a quiet, relaxing place, yet accessible to all parts of the city via car, bus or bicycle.
I am an avid cyclist (commuter and racer) and would be happy to guide you about town if you like. There are two nearby bike shops that rent for the day, whether it is a cruiser you want or one with a racing edge. On the nearby trail, you can ride easily to OMSI, downtown, The Pearl or the Rose Garden without much if any elevation change.
Sellwood is a very quiet, easily walkable neighborhood. There are restaurants, coffee houses, parks and bike trails within easy reach.
There is a bus line that stops a block and a half away. I also recommend that visitors try Car2Go, as it allows them to pick up a rental car in the neighborhood and drop off at their destination within the Portland area. There is also a very convenient set of bike trails that connect all around the city within a block of our residence.

When my husband and I arrived we let Judd know and he came to greet us right away. He showed us the studio and all that came along with it. Judd also let us know about the different areas to visit and the best ways to get around town. The studio was lovely it fit all our needs and was such a charming spot to come home to. I would definitely stay here again, thank you Judd!
Judd made us feel welcome before we arrived for our trip. Upon meeting, we knew we had made the perfect choice for our first Portland visit. This was our first time using airbnb and we couldn't have been more pleased with the outcome. The "Little House" itself was detailed to perfection. Judd provided small necessities such as shampoos, conditioners, body washes, espresso and teas, and maps for every area of the city. The Murphy Bed was very comfortable and we enjoyed the privacy the space allowed. The neighborhood itself was the most exceptional in the Portland area. Great restaurants, natural food market, family oriented, and walker/biker friendly. We would have made a mistake staying anywhere else and would happily return again!
Warm welcome, totally beautiful tiny house, great neighborhood. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Judd helped us to feel very welcome when we arrived. He showed us around the Little House and got us oriented to all the particulars. We were very comfortable - slept great in the comfy Murphy bed and enjoyed the little touches: nice towels, heated bathroom floor, refrigerator, and tasty espresso in the morning! The neighborhood was very walkable as well - great food and drink nearby, and Sellwood Park is close. All in all, it was a wonderful experience. Thanks, Judd!
Our host stopped by the evening we arrived and shared info on our "tiny house", local restaurants and bus service. He was helpful, pleasant and accommodating.
Judd's guest house was cozy, quiet, and close to everything we wanted to see in Portland. Him and his wife were very friendly, and gave us all the info we needed for nearby food and entertainment. We'd definitely recommend you stay here if you're in need of a place for a day or two.
Judd greeted us at the time we agreed upon and was very friendly and informative about our do's and don'ts while staying at his "Little House". We found the house to be clean, and very compact. The house was basically a sleeping place, as we spent most of our time with our daughter and family. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. We have already given this site to our son-in-laws parents and they too will be staying with Judd.
We are a family of three, Judd, Monica and our daughter, Amelia. We live in Portland, Oregon, in the southeast neighborhood of Sellwood. Our neighborhood is located close to the Willamette River that is within walking distance to parks, restaurants, coffee shops, antique stores, galleries, bike shops, library, etc. The Springwater trail is very close by that is a bike corridor to the downtown area and beyond, both east and west. As previously mentioned, we have two bike shops that rent bikes for the day, whether you want to meander or put on serious milage on a high end bike. The food choices available include two Italian restaurants, Vietnamese, Asian fusion, sushi, Greek/Mediterranean, plus pizza and bar grub all within short walking distance.
As hosts, we have a detached private, studio dwelling with a pull down Murphy bed that features a Tempur-pedic mattress, kitchenette with stovetop and microwave, full bath with glassed in shower and heated floors. HDTV with Blu-ray player with surround sound. Other amenities include outdoor seating for summer dining in the patio/garden.
As guests, we enjoy exploring local life and interests, especially dining, bicycling, swimming, shopping, art galleries, and my own personal interest: nearby coffee shops. I love my coffee and always find out something new from visiting with the local clientele. We love to travel with our daughter to new places around the world, whether it is Asia or Europe or the backroads of the United States. Our daughter is well traveled and gets along with everyone. We are easy going and will always pick up after ourselves, as we feel it is our obligation not to leave a mess behind us.
