Guest Access

Their own apartment and a large garden with seating & dining areas. Off street parking.

Interaction with Guests

It is always a treat to meet guests at checkin, visit with them in the garden or even share a glass of wine. Alternatively, it is not unusual for guests to check themselves in & out with communications all by text. Although I miss meeting them in person, this method works remarkably well too.

The Neighborhood

Hyde Park is close to downtown, UT, 6th street and all the other "action". But it is an historic neighborhood one hundred year old homes with large trees and lively gardens; making a quiet get away.

Getting around

We are 1 block from the 1 or 5 bus routes that go right downtown & run every 10 minutes. We are also on the UT free transit bus.

Getting here from the airport:
Taxis run between $25-30 and is fast.
Supershuttle is a minibu that is shared with 2-3 other peopIe, costs about $15 and is medium slow.
The city bus #101 is only $1 and very slow.
I highly recommend Car2Go - a shared vehicle service as an alternative to renting a car. You can even get them to and from the airport (costs about $10). but you have to sign up in advance.

  • Great apartment in Hyde Park! My husband & I stayed here on a recent trip to Austin and found this apt to be spacious, clean and all we needed. Tracy was quick to respond & accommodating. Location is great for getting to campus, downtown, east or north. Side note, great wifi. Highly recommend Tracy's place!

  • This is a great place to stay while visiting Austin. The apartment is very clean and had everything we needed for our stay. The garden is also very fun. The apartment is near restaurants and it was easy to get to campus. Tracy is a great host and communicated with me when I had any questions during my stay. We loved our experience and I would recommend it to anyone visiting.

  • My husband and I had an extremely positive experience with our host from the time I made the reservation until we left after our four night stay. In many ways, the "small apartment" was more than we expected. Tracy had stocked and outfitted the kitchen with all we would need if we had counted on it to prepare our own meals (we only prepared breakfast, as it turned out) and the bathroom had everything we needed. The bed was just fine and the window air conditioners, combined with ceiling fans, provided sufficient cooling despite an unusually warm week for June. The location was ideal for us because our daughter and grandchildren (one of whom was graduating from high school) live nearby, but would be perfect for any visitor to Austin who wanted to have access to downtown, the UT campus or any of the near-in neighborhoods. But what made the experience really special was the way Tracy expressed her unique personality by creating surroundings inside and out that were at once relaxing and intriguing. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend both host and accommodations.

  • While we didn't see much of Tracy, our brief encounters were friendly and welcoming. The rental space is a hidden gem, with all the amenities plus a cozy comfort that made us feel right at home.

There was parking in a private driveway, a safe and quiet neighborhood encompassing us, and the sights and sounds of Austin were only a few minutes down the road.

I can't say enough about the apartment. It was the kind of place that you simply don't want to leave. Wonderful decorations, a nod to Washington state in much of the artwork and simple style that represented Austin well.

Thank you, Tracy, for sharing your space with us. Staying at your apartment was a real treat and made our trip so much more enjoyable than we expected.
