Interaction with Guests
It is always a treat to meet guests at checkin, visit with them in the garden or even share a glass of wine. Alternatively, it is not unusual for guests to check themselves in & out with communications all by text. Although I miss meeting them in person, this method works remarkably well too.
I often travel for work & fun. If I am out of town, there is always a "property manager" available on site.
Hyde Park is close to downtown, UT, 6th street and all the other "action". But it is an historic neighborhood one hundred year old homes with large trees and lively gardens; making a quiet get away.
We are 1 block from the 1 or 5 bus routes that go right downtown & run every 10 minutes. We are also on the UT free transit bus.
Getting here from the airport:
Taxis run between $25-30 and is fast.
Supershuttle is a minibu that is shared with 2-3 other peopIe, costs about $15 and is medium slow.
The city bus #101 is only $1 and very slow.
I highly recommend Car2Go - a shared vehicle service as an alternative to renting a car. You can even get them to and from the airport (costs about $10). but you have to sign up in advance.
Other Things to Note
What to expect.
We really want you to have a great stay & go out of our way to make it happen. But we are not a hotel, so there is more chance of unexpected things happening, both good & bad.
The nearest hotels are a Double Tree & La Quinta & the rooms cost twice as much. They are in the middle of government buildings with few nearby attractions.
The apartment is walkable to loads of fun things and is in a tree filled neighborhood.
However, with hotels you know exactly what you are getting & there are no surprises.
Make yourself at home!

We LOVED staying here. Easy access to UT and downtown- bus stop two short blocks away (and Austin has a great app for purchasing bus tickets). Tracy makes you feel at home- coffee, cream, and more waiting for us. Super comfortable, well stocked, great light. We would love to return. Starbucks, grocery store, and Amy's Ice Cream short walk, but far enough away making neighborhood quiet.
A friend and I visited Austin & needed separate bedrooms- Tracy's 1 bedroom apartment with a fold out couch was perfect! Less expensive & much more fun than 2 separate hotel rooms or a suite.
The apartment is lovely, very clean and nicely decorated. Tracy's yard is also beautiful, a great place to hang out. The bed & the couch were very comfortable. There was coffee & lots of cooking utensils provided. The neighborhood is great, an easy walk to the UT area & close to bus stops.
Both of us said we'd definitely rent the apartment again for future trips.
My daughter and I had a wonderful time. The home is as listed, clean, convenient and the bed and bedding were extremely comfortable. Tracy was very accommodating. The neighborhood was close to UT which was a plus. Thanks Tracy!
We loved our stay & Tracy's! She was very nice and super accommodating. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a nice refreshing local ale to help ease us in after traveling all day.
She also offered excellent dining options (be sure to try Hopfields:)
Location was great for us- walking/running distance to Campus and spots for food / drink.
All in: great stay!
Love, love, LOVE this place. If I was in a different phase of life, I would be pressing Tracy to let me rent from her year-round...
The little garage apartment was great for a few days in Austin over New Years. It had all the amenities that we needed and was in a quiet neighborhood. Getting downtown was a quick $10 cab fare.
Tracy was able to accommodate our early arrival and made us feel very welcome. The apartment was extremely clean and well-maintained. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed and more--loved making French press coffee every morning! The bed was so comfortable. We loved how bright the apartment got during the day--there are windows in every room. Even though it was a little chilly in Austin when we visited, Tracy had set up space heaters in the apartment that kept the place cozy and warm. Tracy's yard was beautiful, especially when lit up at night by the amazing Christmas lights. The apartment was centrally located and we were able to walk to a variety of restaurants, coffeeshops, and the nearby Central Park and Central Market. We stayed for a week and it was tough to leave!
