Due to the overwhelming response to The AIRSTREAM VINTAGE TRAILER EXPERIENCE featuring the restored 1957 AIRSTREAM 22' FLYING CLOUD model, we have tricked out another vintage Airstream for another new and different experience.

Featured here is the recently restored 1971 AIRSTREAM 28' SOVEREIGN OF THE ROAD trailer.
This INTERNATIONAL model was the Cadillac of trailers in it's day.
Straight out of the 'MadMen' era, this silver slipper boasts sleeping for up to FOUR (4) PERSONS on ONE (1) DOUBLE and TWO (2) SINGLE BEDS..
All quality linens and towels are provided.
The rear BATHROOM is equipped with a toilet, sink, and a small combination tub/ shower.
The galley has a gas range-top, oven, refrigerator and double sink.
A gas FURNACE provides comfort heating on chilly nights.

All pots, pans, dishes, cutlery, coffee, sugar, salt/ peppar, some spices and olive oil are provided for cooking

The Airstream is tucked into a meadow area under a pine tree on our 20+ acre property and is extremely private and tranquil with 180 degree mountain views.
Outstanding hiking is available to a private (seasonal) waterfall, or on the world renowned 60 mile long "Backbone Trail" adjacent the property. Sweeping Pacific Ocean views are just a 10 minute walk or take the 5 mile drive to the beaches galore!
Dark skies at night provide exceptional star and meteor shower gazing opportunities.
Just one caveat- your privacy could be interrupted by a surprise visit from our overly friendly goat or horse family!
Previous guests report that it's all good though!!

  • This was my first time using airbnb and I'm so glad that it was with Murray and Kay! I wanted to get out of the city for my birthday and this location was perfect. It's amazing how just 45 minutes away you can feel like you're not in LA anymore. The airstream was so nostalgic it was so much fun. I (email hidden) in the galley and enjoying the comfortable bed. The outside set up was so thoughtful with adorable lanterns and Murray brought ice for the coolers! The goats and horses came to visit so that was super special as well. I highly recommend staying here even if it's just for a night...but you'll want to stay longer. I promise. Thank you Murray and Kay!!!

  • This was a great spot--very secluded and quiet. We loved having the animal visitors as well.

The dirt road leading up to the Airstream is best left to vehicles with 4 wheel drive, something I wish I had known before taking my car up there--a bit scary at times.

Aside from a few small issues (broken refrigerator), it was a pleasant stay.

  • A lovely get away for me and my daughter. It was mommy-friendly camping. We loved feeling like we were out in the middle of nature and my daughter enjoyed seeing the horses, goats and Murray's adorable dogs.

  • This was a perfect getaway from LA. My boyfriend loves Malibu and I surprised him with a night in the trailer for his Birthday. It couldn't have been better! The property was stunning, the stargazing was incredible and Murray was a wonderful host!

  • Our stay at Murray's airstream was great! You will probably be spending a great deal of time outside of it, though; the stars at night were a sight to behold while wrapped in the extra blankets that are provided for outdoor use and the fog surrounding the hills in the early morning hours made it seem as if this you had taken this little airstream to another planet.

Communication was a breeze. A+ rental all around.

  • We had a blast! Brought my kids and they were in heaven! We will be back for sure! It's was so nice to be away from all the LA madness and have some piece and quiet:)

  • The Airstream was everything we expected and more! It's location is beautiful and isolated and only right outside of Malibu. Murray is very accommodating--keeps his interaction short and sweet. The trailer comes with everything you need: pots, pans, and spices and a few beautiful outdoor seating areas. My friend and I were late for check out time as we got a little lost on the Santa Monica peaks but Murray was very understanding. Peaceful and fun.

  • My friends and I very much enjoyed our stay in Murray and Kay's Airstream Vintage Adventure! This was the perfect spot for us to stay while in Malibu for a wedding. We definitely found ourselves wishing we were able to stay longer in order to fully enjoy the Airstream and the surrounding area (hiking trails on the property, etc.). The beds were comfortable, the Airstream was wonderfully prepared for our stay, and the seating areas outside were a delight. I was unable to meet Murray and Kay but I know my friends enjoyed meeting them.

  • Really easy experience staying here - Murray was laid back and informative in giving us details on the property and the trailer. As promised, the stars were out and beautiful, and there is a nice little setup outside the trailer in order to eat and enjoy the surroundings. The trailer is secluded and nostalgic.

  • The vintage airstream was cuter than we expected! We had such a great time and Murray was a great host. We only wish we could have stayed longer.

My wife and I are Christian, semi-retired film industry people who thrive on adventure and meeting interesting people. Over the past 13 years I've restored several vintage Airstream trailers and consider them the ultimate in camping comfort. One of my restorations now actually resides in Japan! We used to love to travel and camp in our 1957 'FLYING CLOUD' AIRSTREAM but now enjoy allowing others to share the experience without the hassle of driving, towing and fighting for a spot in a crowded and noisy campground. We live on a 20+ acre ranch property (with some overly friendly goats, dogs and horses) in the Santa Monica Mountains- surrounded by thousands of acres of open space and direct access to the famous Backbone Trail, which is renowned for hiking, horseback and mountain bike riding. We are also only 6 miles from the glorious beaches of Malibu. Our hilltop location is the perfect deluxe camping experience, with ocean views, and base to enjoy this unique mountain range and Mediterranean climate which occurs in only 6 places in the world.
