1995 Eurovan Camper Edition. This is an amazingly designed camp space that serves our family very well. We sleep four comfortably--parents on the bottom and two kid sized people on the pop-up second story. You will need a reservation at Morro Dunes Campground ($31), and we will come park the van in your space and orient you to all the amenities. The campground has great bathrooms and showers and even a nice laundry facility. With electrical hookups on-site, you will have working plugs and lighting in the van. It has almost all the comforts of home.
The only problem with this camping option is that as soon as you try it, you will want to get your own. It is great having everything self-contained--no tent to put up or propane stove to cart around, no pokey ground to sleep on. You will be living large like the motor home types, but in a nice compact space. Who really wants to spend all day in a big motor home anyway when camping? Camping is about spending time outdoors and with the family. This well-designed German vehicle gives you the best of family camping--close proximity with your family, a place to hang out together, and some of the amenities of home like a working refrigerator, running water (kind of), heat for those cold nights, and a double burner cook range. Sorry, but you will have to build a fire if you want an oven, but there are some really fun ways to build those and the family actually likes the fire better than an oven anyway.
I admit that this is not QUITE as comfortable as our other offering in Morro Bay, but the adventure and family time cannot be beat. Your family will always say, "remember that year we stayed in that little VW? That was so much fun."
While VW has done an amazing job of engineering this van to have some pretty cool features, I am unable to guarantee that everything will work every time and to its maximum capacity. If the fridge goes out, we will provide the cooler with ice from our local supermarket, Spencers. I am presently trying to figure out why the sink water doesn't seem to be working properly, but we don't use it much anyhow. Other than that one issue, everything else performs its intended function. I will make sure the propane is filled so you won't run out in the middle of the week.
There are a few weeks and weekends when the family Eurovan is off limits. Those are for us. If you want those weeks, you will have just have to get your own :-). We love it too much to make it available all the time.
We had a great weekend at the Happiness House. The location was perfect and the house was great. We especially loved the roof top patio and the chickens in the back yard!
Had a great short stay at the Walthen's lovely home in Morro Bay. We declared the bed the most comfortable bed we had ever slept in, wished we could take it with us. The Walthen's were gracious hosts, without being intrusive.
Loved the roof deck,...the weather that night wasn't great, but we still enjoyed our wine and conversation. And fortunately, Troy was able to arrange for a gorgeous morning (!!) with chickens gently clucking in the background. Such a nice touch.
The light continental type breakfast was perfect.
My friends and I had a blast staying at Troy's place! The pictures make it look lovely, but in real life, its even better! The living room was cozy and the kitchen offered a lot of space to cook and enjoy each other's company. There were three beds downstairs, a very comfy couch, a futon, and a huge bed upstairs! We loved all the sticky notes that were left, the complimentary coffee, tea, and eggs from their backyard! Our favorite part was the crows nest on the roof. It was an awesome place to hangout in the morning and look over Morro Bay. All my friends raved about the place and we will definitely be back soon!
This was our first time using Airbnb and we loved it! It was a last minute reservation and Troy's response was immediate. Lucky for us he had an opening. From the moment Summer opened the door to greet us to saying goodbye...it was perfect. The room was much bigger than we expected with a bonus living/dining space, outdoor space/rooftop. Very private and immaculently clean! Breakfast was warm homemade bearclaws, fruit, and fresh eggs. They were delicious. The sheets smelled so fresh, like the fresh air...we slept like babies. The Wathen's are a lovely family and we can't wait to return! Thank you so much Troy & Summer!
This was our first airbnb experience. Troy and his family were excellent hosts.
We had a wonderful time!
Our host family was very nice and welcoming. The upstairs apartment was comfortable and clean.
Breakfast on the roof deck was delightfully refreshing.
Originally I thought the home was in Morro Bay proper;
it is a little bit out of town but we liked that.
My boyfriend and I had a great time staying at this lovely home in morro bay. Troy and summer were so accommodating and friendly... Not to mention speedy at replying to my reservation request, which save us a huge headache, as we made the mistake of looking for a hotel last minute on a holiday weekend with zero availability. The room was welcoming, clean, and it was so nice to be surprised with delicious breakfast pastries and fresh eggs in the morning! This was my first experience with airbnb and I couldn't be happier. I will definitely be using it to book my vacation stays from now on! Thanks, Troy and summer!
Great house and nice host!
Troy has a great little spot in Morro Bay. Easy walking distance to the beach and a great view from the rooftop patio. Had a very relaxing time. Would recommend to anyone coming through. Troy and his family were very accommodating.
Also, check out Top Dog in town for good coffee!
Myself and lavanya had the best experience with Troy. He surprised us with a wonderful breakfast with eggs, home made yogurt etc. The place is really amazing. Totally recommended.
