I had a great experience staying with Jo and Terry. They have a beautiful home and the basement suite was perfect for my one month stay. It was very clean and comfortable making it an ideal location to use as home base for whatever brings you to the area. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again and highly recommend their home. Thanks again it was a pleasure to meet you both and I appreciate your hospitality. Dave
This is my second review in as many months. The fact that we extended our stay by an entire month should be enough of an indication of how comfortable this apartment is. It's a welcomed escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Joanne and Terry are wonderful hosts and we have been very lucky to find such a nice place to stay.
Note from my previous review- there IS a washer and dryer (ask your hosts).
Wow, we lucked out. Joanne and Terry are the nicest, most welcoming and accommodating hosts. The place is clean, and comfortable and has everything we needed to feel at home. As an example, the kitchen has the proper equipment to bake cookies and make a traditional turkey dinner for Christmas.
Joanne and Terry are always available if you need them, but so respectful that if you choose you'd barely ever see them.
We used their place as a hide-away to work on our start-up company. The Internet worked great for research, and Skype calls, and the country roads nearby were great for long walks to plan and discuss our future business.
We used the workout equipment almost daily and were so happy to have this available (after all the cookies I baked).
I agree with the other reviewers, this place is much nicer than the pictures show.
The only downside- or actually good side for us hiding away- the phone reception was not good in the house. We had to go out to the road to make calls. I did get all texts and voicemails in the house, but phone reception didn't work well. We also were able to use iPhone's FaceTime in the house with no problems.
Another small downside is that for longer stays you need to go into Shelton to do laundry at the laundrymat. But really with such an amazing place and amazing hosts this is a very minor trade-off.
Absolutely beautiful view and location. The owners are very welcoming. The rental space is large and inviting. We loved the stay here and would love to come back.
We loved our stay at the basement apartment...it hardly felt like a basement with the high ceilings and the large windows. So much light came in to the living space. The bed was super comfortable and cozy! The apartment was clean and well taken care of...but the best part of this visit was the view and access to the lake! How lovely! Waking every morning to the water and sun was amazing. We really want to go back when the weather is warmer and stay longer so we can enjoy the water. Our hosts, Joanne and Terry, were great! We didn't see them until the end of the trip, as we were busy visiting family, but they came out to wish us farewell. Thank you for an amazing couple of days. We'll be back!
We were looking for a very last minute stay on a Saturday night in a fairly remote area and found this listing to be available. The basement apartment title is misnomer, as it is a hidden jewel! We were hoping to at least get a bed for the night and were so surprised and pleased to arrive to a beautiful lakeside retreat! Jo was very responsive to our last minute request and greeted us (with sweet pup) with a very warm welcome. She encouraged us to take a dip in the lake, which we did and it was a small bit of paradise! The lake is small and was quiet in the evening. The neighbors were very friendly as they cruised by in boats and kayaks. It was so pleasant we decided not to go into town for dinner and just stayed in. The apartment had great views of the lake and was spacious, very comfortable and spotless. The bed was amazing! I only wish we could have stayed longer. We will be back!
I had a wonderful experience staying with Joanne and Terry. The apartment was very spacious, clean and comfortable. The view of the lake was absolutely (website hidden) and Terry were extremely welcoming and really went out of their way to make me feel at home. I would highly recommend staying here!

About the Host, Joanne
Our separate living area in the basement looks on the the lake; It is a great view and a quiet and comfortable area. We are located central to many points of interest. The lake is a great swimming lake, clean and not too cold in summer.
We would love to give a couple or single person an opportunity to enjoy this beautiful place.
