Guest apartment sleeps 1-4 adults in two beds. Very large deck with outdoor amenities and fun central location in LA make this apartment a cozy and fun base for your city exploration.
Our bright and airy one-bedroom guest apartment is located in the Silver Lake hills of Los Angeles. It is a hillside garden apartment, with our owner-occupied house above. (Because of the hillside, stairs are required to access the unit.)
The unit offers off-street parking (rare!) and a separate entrance for total privacy. It has been renovated top to bottom and features a living room, kitchen, separate bedroom, and full bath with tub, as well as beautiful cork and marmoleum flooring and roman shades with black-out linings. The furnishings are mid-century with a modern touch.
The kitchen includes a gas range, sink, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, and toaster oven, as well as ample cooking equipment, dishes, glasses, cutlery, and even cookbooks. There's a eating bar for two here, too.
The living room includes a full-sized comfort sleeper pull-out couch, easy chair, flat-screen television (with DirecTV and Roku Box), desk area (with plenty of Los Angeles visitors' guides), and folding table that opens to fit dinner for 3! An array of games, a CD player and an IPod dock are also available for our guests' use. High-speed WIFI is included.
The bedroom features a queen bed with organic linens, sizable closet with full-length mirror, dresser, vanity, and generous library of books. It is large-enough to accommodate a pack-n-play or crib as well. The bath linens are luxurious 800-gram weight towels.
Just outside the apartment’s door is a sizable slate patio with chairs, a cafe table, and gas barbecue grill, available for your use. Our shared garden and 600sf deck is just beyond, with chaise longues and a table with seating for 8.
There are citrus trees (lime, lemon, orange, tangelo, and kumquat), and in springtime, the blueberry bushes are fabulous!
We have a propane heater for chilly nights, and built-in lighting for long, mellow evenings under the stars. The view is trees and hillsides, with downtown's skyline in the distance.
A grocery, pharmacy, banks, and a number of restaurants and shops are all in walking distance, as is the Silver Lake reservoir. We do recommend a car, and with it, you’ll have easy access to the 2, 5, 134 and 101 freeways. A list of approximate driving times to a number of attractions/locales is below.
We live above, and are typically around to provide directions, restaurant and attraction suggestions, and anything else we can help with. We can also recommend a bonded sitter service, if you come with kids but need some time away!
Perfect for two, and cozy for four, the location is ideal for a stay in Los Angeles. The Silver Lake reservoir, Los Feliz, Dodger stadium, and downtown are just minutes away, as is Griffith Park, with its miles of trails, golf course, zoo, museums, train rides, and playgrounds. A great hotel alternative to anyone coming to Los Angeles for business or pleasure.
All utilities are included. We typically request a 2-night minimum stay and there is a $60 fee for a clean-out maid service added to the total. A 14% hotel tax is included in the nightly fee.

The apartment faces out onto a two-level deck comprised of something like 600 square feet of space. There are tables and chairs with seating for up to 8 people. A gas grill, strings of lights in the trees, and an outdoor propane heater make dinner outside, or just hanging out on the deck, a tempting idea.
We live above the apartment and are available if you need us, but we are careful to respect our guests' space. When you're staying in our apartment, it's YOUR apartment.
Silver Lake is an exciting, culturally progressive neighborhood that offers a lot for young people, families and seasoned travelers. Great restaurants & bars, interesting shops, architectural highlights and an excellent walking/jogging path are just a minute away.
Several major bus routes have stops near the apartment but we strongly recommend using a car while you are here. We offer a reserved, secure and convenient parking spot for our guests' cars.

We had a great time. The place was nice and cozy, the location was perfect, and the owners were very friendly and accommodating.
For the traveller to LA looking for a self contained accommodation, David and Heather's hillside retreat is a real find. The fact that it is located in the Silver Lake/Los Feliz area makes it even more amazing. The apartment is cozy, stylishly appointed with a fully equipped kitchen and a great collection of books and Netflix. The real star is the beautiful deck and BBQ, surrounded by trees, that just invites you to breakfast (and lunch and dinner, if you get tired of all the great places to eat that the area offers). And in an area where parking can be a problem, you have your own private spot. Highly recommended.
Relaxed and welcoming; David and Heather were great hosts. The apartment was perfect for what we needed - great outdoor space and well-equipped inside. Good location too.
David & Heather are wonderful hosts. We stayed for 5 nights and we genuinely appreciated their warmth, their cozy, amazingly decorated apartment. Neighborhood is awesome! I would gladly return to their place again if I get the occasion, and I strongly recommend them to the airbnb community!!!
David and Heather's guest house has been my home away from home over the past few months. I highly recommend staying here if you are in town. I will miss this place even now that I have a place of my own!
David and Heather were the perfect hosts, great communication from the off and their space was beautiful and exactly how they had described it. Couldn't have had a better experience. Highly recommend and wouldn't hesitate to book again next time I'm back in LA.
My husband and I spent 13 nights at David and Heather's Hillside Retreat over the Christmas holidays. We were more than satisfied and will very likely stay there again. One feature we especially appreciated was the private parking spot. Without it, parking in the area would have been extremely difficult. The owners are very accommodating. The heating needed an adjustment, which was taken care of immediately. They even lent us some warm clothing for the Rose Parade and offered the use of some baby equipment for our grand-daughter. I highly recommend this apartment.
David and Heather were warm, welcoming hosts! The guest house is a private, well-situated apartment space on their property - perfect for those looking for a home-base in a cool neighborhood of LA. The house is well-appointed with everything you would need or have staying in a hotel. A great experience, would definitely recommend!
We enjoyed our stay very much! Everything was as we expected it. This apartment is cozy and quiet and has all the essentials. All shopping and restaurants are nearby. We will definitely return on our next visit to Los Angeles.

My mom and brother loved the little guest apartment space. Thanks for being such great hosts!
