Casa Kibi Kibi was a nice quiet respite from the very noisy San Jose. The surrounding neighborhood was perfect for anyone who plans to stay long term. There is a grocery store right across the street, the WiFi is strong, and I woke up to birds singing every morning. The room itself was perfect and the hot shower was great. There are tons of cabs just steps away, but I used Uber because it was about one third the price. I didn't use the kitchen much, but it was always clean. The other guests were nice too.

Great internet, easy to meet others staying in the guest house, and helpful host! Location is a short uber ride from restaurants, bars, etc. but not exactly walkable to downtown. It's right next to a grocery store though which is super convenient. Nice place for an extended stay.

First I want to say that Shirani is an amazing person, he really listens to you and makes sure to do whatever is possible to make your stay as comfortable as possible. He begins by contacting you before you arrive to ensure good communication and make sure he is available during the time you arrive. When you arrive you will find a beautiful property that is lush with a garden in the middle and also a huge living room area where everyone relaxes and does their own thing. There is plenty of privacy in your room and the bathroom is exactly what any traveler needs, plus hot water!! This isn't always possible in San Jose depending on where you stay. There is plenty of fridge space and cooking resources during your stay, and a great grocery store steps away from his property and even an awesome chinese restaraunt and rotisserie chicken place as well. Bar Chicago is a perfect place to hang out down the street and completely safe, just like a majority of the neighborhood around. I can't stress how easy it is to jump on the public transportation and go downtown for a measly 335 colones (less than a $1). Or if you want, Uber and taxi is available as well. The most important thing you need to know, Shirani allows there to be a good vibe throughout all of the guests and makes sure you have a peaceful stay, what more could you ask for? Stay here, and enjoy your stay, it will be the best deal you find in the area!

Listing was accurate. Shirani the manager was very accomodating. I wanted to change rooms no problem needed a fan go it. Pretty much anything, you just needed to ask. Very clean and comfortable living quarters. Cleaning help were always there tidying up. Very nice place especially for cost.I recommend going across street to Supermarket and speaking to Yami to obtain cell phone service. Very smart honest lady speaks very good english. Change currency at Mas Menus a short distance away.

Tranquillo place, nice garden, fresh air, gentleman host, UCR (university) incl. its bars on walking distance (ca. 20min)... what do you want more in the capital.

You just could not ask for a better host than Shirani. He was there upon my arrival, extending a warm greeting and helping me with my luggage. Understanding I was exhausted from travel, he gave me time to see the room and settle in before he explained policies and such. He's intuitively thoughtful and considerate...a perfect blend of friendliness and professionalism. What I like best: He is there if and when I have questions or needs, but otherwise he respects my privacy and let's me be happily on my own. This has contributed greatly to the relaxed ambiance I needed. The house and grounds are lovely, peaceful, and spotlessly clean. I love the (URL HIDDEN) room opens onto it, and when I open the door in the morning, I feel like I have my own Shangra-la. There's a supermarket across the street, and the bus stop is a two minute walk away. San Jose is a quick 15 minute bus ride. The neighborhood is safe, the people are friendly, so daily walks are part of my day. I've been so happy here, and I can see why fellow guests have said they return again and again.

My stay in Shirani's guest house was good. The place is very nice, comfortable, quiet...not far from San José. Shirani was very welcoming, helpful... I met many people from different (URL HIDDEN) was a warming place to live during my stay...with many practical options (supermarket, ATM, laundry, bus, taxi...)...

Hi! I am currently the full-time manager of Casa Kibi Kibi, a cozy guesthouse in San Jose, Costa Rica. However, I am also an historian and professional tour guide. While I am passionate about photography and traveling, I also indulge in a particularly nerdy fascination with commercial aviation, so save me your airline safety cards!
I have been blessed with the opportunity to travel to over 50 countries, and I love meeting people of different nationalities and cultures. I especially enjoy sampling new and hopefully exotic foods - there is nothing I won't try at least once! I am also very proud of my indigenous Brunca heritage. If you have the chance to visit Costa Rica, I will for sure be more than happy to show you my place and recommend my favorite spots!
