The host sent a substitute man to welcome me and check me in. I felt welcomed.
We enjoyed our stay at Shirani's guest house. Shirani was very welcoming, helpful and informative. He hung with us to arrange transportation even when our flight was severely delayed. His drivers were friendly and efficient and on time. Our room was modest but clean and had a good mattress. The shared facilities were very clean and efficiently maintained and the other guests were considerate. We would not hesitate to return book a stay if we were again in San Jose. The neighborhood was close to downtown. Nearby was a supermarket, pharmacy and restaurants and the area seemed like a very safe residential neighborhood. Based on our stay here we felt that San Jose was a much more interesting, safe and attractive city than generally depicted in guide books.
Casa Kibi Kibi was a great place to stay for 10 days or even by the month. There were other americans living there so there was always p lenty of English speaking . The place was clean and comfortable and close to the supermarket and pharmacy as well as farmers markets and bus routes. Shirani was very helpful with maps and his knowledge of the city and directions. when I return to costa rica I will definitely try to stay at the casa Kibi Kibi. Thanks Shirani
Shirani was very helpful and welcoming. He knows the area very well and was an inexhaustible source of good local information. Casa Kibi Kibi is beautifully decorated, well maintained, spotlessly clean, and a friendly place to be. The wifi is excellent, the hot shower rated 5-stars on my husband's Central American Shower Rating, and the bed is comfortable with extra pillows provided. There is a grocery store literally across the street, and bus and taxis are a block away. I definitely recommend this place. It was a great experience.
I had a wonderful month long stay at Casa Kibi Kibi! Our host Shirani made me feel comfortable and very at home from the moment I checked in. My room and the common areas were clean and comfortable and the landscaped courtyard gives a nice open feeling to the Casa.
Meeting and sharing stories and laughs with Shirani and the other international guests made my stay that much more enjoyable.
Feels like I found a home away from home at Casa Kibi Kibi and plan on staying there again whenever in the area. Thank you Shirani for providing a relaxed and stress free stay at your Casa.
Von der Ankunft am Flughafen bis hin zur Verabschiedung durch Shirani's
Eltern war alles perfekt. Wenn wir das naechste Mal in San Jose sind, werden wir wieder Shirani nach einem Zimmer fragen!
We stayed in Shirani's place for three nights at the end of a longer trip traveling throughout Costa Rica. Most of the other guests were there for long-term stays of several weeks or months. Our room had a private bathroom with a hot, high pressure shower, and shared access to a kitchen and common space. Shirani was always very nice and accommodating. The location is near several bus lines that go through San Pedro to downtown San Jose, and there's a large grocery store across the street. We found a few spots nearby to grab food for dinner out, but not many. There were plenty of restaurants in San Pedro, which was a 30 min walk or 10 min bus ride away. Thanks Shirani, for sharing your home!
Hi! I am currently the full-time manager of Casa Kibi Kibi, a cozy guesthouse in San Jose, Costa Rica. However, I am also an historian and professional tour guide. While I am passionate about photography and traveling, I also indulge in a particularly nerdy fascination with commercial aviation, so save me your airline safety cards!
I have been blessed with the opportunity to travel to over 40 countries, and I love meeting people of different nationalities and cultures. I especially enjoy sampling new and hopefully exotic foods - there is nothing I won't try at least once! I am also very proud of my indigenous Brunca heritage. If you have the chance to visit Costa Rica, I will for sure be more than happy to show you my place and recommend my favorite spots!
