Thanks to our very private location, our villa is one of the safest locations in our area, and we never had any burglary since we bought the villa early 1999.

Everything about our experience at the Jungle Villa was remarkable! The pictures are accurate, but don't show the true beauty or personality of the place. The room was much larger than I expected. The shower was WONDERFUL and always had hot water for the entire family. The opportunity to purchase air conditioning for $5/day was well worth it. Ad was a fabulous host. He was very helpful giving any recommendations we needed. Any time he saw us, he checked that we had everything that we needed and that all was well. He came down to get us when the monkeys came to visit the villa. We saw Titi, Capuchin, and Howler monkeys all in one day. Out of our entire trip all over Costa Rica, our experience with the monkeys at the Jungle Villa was by far the best. The Jungle Villa pools were out of this world! So perfect for kids! (The adults enjoyed it as well.) I would highly recommend the Jungle Villa to anyone considering visiting the Manuel Antonio area.
Jungle Villa was a great home in a perfect location. The room and bathroom were nice and big, and we had more than enough space. The pools were beautiful and there was someone there every morning cleaning them. The outdoor living/dining room had plenty of space and was nicely decorated. The kitchen was great too. It was nice to have a kitchen especially when traveling with kids. There was always someone there on site to help us out (our air-conditioner was tricky to turn on). Make sure to follow the directions that your are given by the owner as it is a little tricky to find. (There are practically NO road signs in the area.) There were many restaurants and markets nearby. We were a little disappointed that the monkeys didn't stop by to visit, but we did see howler monkeys in the trees and could hear all the wildlife around us. This would be a great place for a large family or several families traveling together as there are many rooms to rent in this large house.
We did not feel welcome at all in this place. We received the weirdest greeting - by greeting I mean- " Oh you found it?" and that was it. He took us to our room and left us and didn't even give us the key. Then I had to ask for the key and when we got it, he told us to hang it on a hook outside the door. Really? So strange. He smoked a lot and the reception area constantly smelled of smoke. So gross if you don't smoke. Finally, when we thought our experience could not get wierder... we asked to extend our checkout a little so we could go to the beach and come back and shower. He agreed and when we returned, we found all of our things gathered and put outside of the room. He touched our things and literally left them in the outdoors! So crazy. The place is a good location and is accurate to the pictures - less than standard and kind of musty. It has so much potential, but the owner makes the experience and we had a terrible experience.
Christy and Kerri were not very pleasant and polite guests. They simpy ignored our house rules and they were impossible to communicate with in a normal way or to please. Whenever we tried to explain or tell them anything, the conversation was cut off: they knew that already !!
They only brought tension to our villa. Even other guests staying the same nights made a remark that Christy and Kerri were 2 strange guests.
When we gave a later checkout with permission to use the shower in the room later, we explicitly asked they should pack all luggage before going to the beach and put the bags together in one place. This in order to change and wash the bedsheets.
Much to our surprise their bags were not packed after they agreed and left for the beach. Our maid only placed their stuff together.
Ad was very hospitable and helpful. He answered our questions and gave us helpful suggestions. However, I wish that he would not have smoked around us in the public areas. Also, the bed between the bathroom and the main bedroom was very lumpy. Overall we would stay there again.
If you want to to experience a stay in a jungle atmosphere, this is your place. Set amongst the trees with an ocean vista, you will hear and see monkeys, spiders, geckos, and many other little jungle creatures. This is an eco based stay with water being heated by solar panel which eventually brought warm-to-hot water depending on time of day and a tp free flush zone.
There is an open kitchen in a common area for guests to use which is very useful if you are looking to cook for yourself.
The pool areas were cleaned daily however we did not swim in them however the other guests seemed to enjoy them.
The room was really large and could sleep at least six. We would recommend updated paint and new bedding and the dead bugs in the fixtures were not welcoming. Again this is more of a jungle style experience so if anything that crawls isn't your thing..stay elsewhere.
The owner is nice a social, he even called us up from our room to see the monkeys early in the am. The property is secure with staff on 24 hours a day and a security guard and and gate by the covered garage area where we parked our vehicle. There was no safe and One window didn't lock so we just took our important things with us.
The location is awesome with some great restaurants(el avion) and an art gallery close by. The beach is a bus or car ride but within 5 mins.
We only stayed here for one night on our way to the Osa Peninsula and were enchanted by our short stay. From the howler monkeys in the trees, to the abundant bird life. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. Ad was a great host and made us feel right at home. It was such a good location that we were able to hop on the bus to Manuel Antonio Park and the beach before we carried on our journey. Thank you so much for having us!
Huge room. Ad upgraded us for free. Very nice staff (didn't speak English).

About the Host, Ad
I bought this beautiful Jungle Villa early 1999. Originally it was built as a restaurant with 3 pools for a nearby hotel. It's was converted into a private residence in 1999. Guests have given the house many different names like Monkey House, Noah's Ark, etc. but we simply call it the Jungle Villa, a villa embedded in the jungle. If you come to Costa Rica for its nature and animals, this villa is your best choice. As hundreds of guests said already: whenever you enter our property gate, you enter a completely different world. A world with a relaxed atmosphere, sounds of the nature, animals and jungle. A world far away from everydays world. Just relax and enjoy it.
