Beautiful little escape very close to Manuel Antonio. The villas are very private, but directly off the main road. The view in the morning is beautiful of the water through the jungle. Ad was very accomodating to our late arrival and made an awesome breakfast suggestion just down the road - be sure to ask him for the name of the place - it was delicious. Juego de Mora is my new favorite drink in the morning.
As at tip to those visiting the Manuel Antonio park! Do not pull over on the way when "rangers" flag you down. They are not real rangers, they will trick you into paying 30USD for a tour. If you continue driving and follow signs for the Manuel Antonio park, you can park and pay ~8USD for park entry. You will walk the same trail, and there will be people with guides looking at the animals, you will not miss anything. We ditched our guide because he was moving too slow anyhow.
We loved our stay at the Jungle Villa. The location was ideal, close enough to walk to the beach (but I'd take the bus, the hills can be brutal), clean, private, and secure. There was a guard or one of the small Jungle Villa staff there 24-7, so all of our belongings felt very safe even when we left for the whole day.
This is a tranquil spot with wifi, a great place to chill with monkeys and get work done, or read by the pool. Didn't feel like a place you could get too rowdy, or bring visitors. It is more for a quiet stay, which was perfect. The outdoor patio was actually really pretty, and well maintained. One thing, this spot is actually in the jungle, so there are "howlers" at night (monkeys that howl/scream). I found it kind of cool but I can see how it would be terrifying.
The place is very nice, the swiming pool is great as is the view on the ocean. Very convenient to get into Manuel Antonio parc. The room was nice and the king size bed very confortable. But the room is so huge that it make it a bit unpersonal. The owner is not from Costa Rica, good to know if you are using air bnb to be closer to local people (as we do). But he has been very nice anyway.
Beautiful place to stay, near everything; beach, restaurant...
A super nice view to the ocean, nice big pool, nice court yard..
Ad is a great host very friendly!
You can even see and feed some monkeys hangaing around the place!
This place is horrible! !the owner is the rudest most intrusive person I have ever met. I asked prior to booking if he had reliable wifi as My girlfriend and I had to work 2 out of the 6 days. The owner said they have great Internet so we booked.
The Internet and the AC didn't work in either our room or our friends room upstairs, so we lost 2 days of work. Also the shower had 5 dirty luffas in it when we checked in. We did not complain or say anything to him.
Throughout our trip the owner asked at every chance if we turned off our lights and kept stating how expensive electricity is in Costa Rica, Which got so annoying. There is rust on the lamp and mold on the walls ( I have pics if proof is needed) and we still didn't complain cause we wanted to make the best of our week.
On the last night there we started doing laundry and he stormed downstairs drunk yelling and screaming calling us thieves cause we didn't ask him if we can use the machines and repeated over and over pay me now.. Please note the machines were next to our room and we thought we had access and there was no sign stating otherwise. He demanded we pay and insulted us saying he should put a fence around the machine to keep us animals out. Even after we paid the insane fee of $10 for a load of cloths he still came down and took our cloths out of the dryer still wet cause the dryer was on for 30 min. We went home with wet cloths.
I wouldn't advise anyone to stay at this place just because of the owner he shows no respect for his guest or staff.
He also said to my girlfriend that the best wife is one that cost $40/hour (prostitute). This guy doesn't deserve to live in such a beautiful country.
If this would have been my first experience with airbnb it would have ruined the site for me but thankfully I had nothing but great experiences with hosts on this site before this horrible misadventure.
This person and his girlfriend are the worst type of guests any host can have, a straightforward nightmare. By renting 1 room they behaved like they rented the entire villa. They basically take over your house. They had absolutely no respect for our house rules: to switch off lights, fans and air-conditioning when leaving the room. Lights, fans and air-conditioning were on all day even when they were at the beach all day or shopping. Costa Rica has the highest electricity rates so for us saving energy is an important necessity.
These guests were very arrogant and they treated our staff very bad: they were asking our staff to do things by shouting at them. Our wireless internet works 24/7 because the villa owner needs internet access 24/7 for his online travel sites which he operates since may 1995. Our air-conditioning only has to be switched on or off, not to be reprogrammed. These guests definitely used the air-conditioning every day they stayed.
On the last day of their stay we were told at 10pm by another guest that our washer and dryer were making noise. We checked and discovered that these guests had started to use our washer and dryer without our permission and without any payment. Nowhere we mention on Airbnb that guests can use our washer and dryer. We asked them to switch off the washer and dryer because other guests were sleeping already. We were simply ignored. Then the other guests also asked politely to stop washing and they were ignored too. We turned off the power but they turned it back on!! They continued washing and drying till midnight and never paid anything for it although we asked several times. We didn't want to escalate it and let them finish the washing. We were simply taken by the brutality and rudeness of these guests. This had never happened to us since we started to rent our villa in 2005. The owner, our other guests and our staff were all very happy and relieved when Mohsen Daknema left early next morning to catch his plane. Peace in the Jungle Villa had returned!
