Dear Rob, I let pass some time before answering publicly to your review, hoping that before you would have been so kind to answer to my private mail I have sent you, to reflect about the real utility of your negative review, as I think to be sterile controversy rather than useful and constructive criticism, which I usually gladly accept, as it gives me the chance to improve my business. But you did not answer me anymore. So, at this point, I want to make public my answer to you, so that people are free to judge themselves. And this is what I wrote you: " First of all I completely agree that you are a very correct and respectful family to deal with, but would like to make you notice what immense damage you are causing me with this negative review about a property that since now has never had negative reviews. And this negative review contains objectively all little critics which are not so serious and which you could have gently suggested me in a private way as things to improve in my business. Coming to the points: •You called me at 10 pm at night for the TV, I was one the phone with you more times for a long time until we solved the problem and than you thanked me for that, apologizing yourself for the late call but I wasn’t annoyed for that at all, just pleased to solve it. •Why Mariarosa, our housekeeper is very serious and shows everything at check-in and tries to be as precise as possible: because unfortunately not all people are so kind and respectful as you are, even if they pay 800Euro/night: so we NEED to be as meticulous as possible at check-in, because unfortunately we cannot know first with what kind of people we will deal with, and it happens quite often we have to deal with very un-polite, un-respectful people. For that reason, we had to teach Mariarosa a general, polite but detached behavior with all our guests. She is a very shy lady, and trying to improve her English with enormous passion and devotion; such a pity that the language barrier doesn’t permit to show how sweet, delicate and reserved person she is ... •Your consideration about the use of bottled water in the Nespresso machine and kettle has nothing to do with the chlorinated water of the pool: we ask not to use tap water because it is a very very calcareous water and damages the devices, not because it is unsafe as we have a modern UV devise which brings a perfect drinkable water in the house. •About the pool: how can you tell it is not sufficiently chlorinated? We have a pool boy who is instructed to respect a regular Chlor level, as we like to present a pool which is safe but does not smell of Chlorine as a communal pool in which swim hundreds of people. About the mouse: I want to point out that the pool is located in the middle of the countryside surrounded by a lawn, where animals, insect, birds are free, so it can happen that an animal, attracted by the water, falls into the pool. Moreover, we are talking about a little country mouse, not a city rat! I would agree with you if this would have happened in a pool on the 10th floor of a skyscraper in New York! •The pool engine runs all the time because we want to grant a clear water; I asked you if you wanted me to stop it and you answered me it was just your concern about my consumption and I thanked you for that. •Our check in and check out times are aligned with those of the area: the villa is very big and we need that time to present a perfect villa to our guests. 15 minutes in advance are so un-respectful? •Yes, our cleaning lady probably forgot to take away a trash bag. So, in case you will reconsider the publication of your review, I would appreciate it. Otherwise I will be forced to disprove publicly the list of unhelpful considerations you made, which I find a very disagreeable way to discuss about inner problems, just due to this imposition of reviews which forces owners and travelers.
