Please note that it is only possible to buy alcohol at the Vínbuðin shops which usually close around 18:00 and are not open on Sundays.

The Vínbuðin in Gríndavík is open 14:00 - 18:00 Mon - Thurs, 12:00 - 18:00 Friday and is closed on Saturdays and Sundays

It is not possible to buy alcohol in the supermarkets except for low alcohol pilsner.

Hi I love life and especially love nature - I live right next to the ocean in a little community not far from Grindavík (which is about a half an hour car journey from Reykjavík and 20 minutes from Keflavík airport). I feel very blessed to be living here and sometimes have to pinch myself to believe i live in such a peaceful and beautiful area. I have worked for over 20 years as a tour guide in Iceland and prefer to visit, walk and camp in the more remote areas of Iceland . I am also passionate about photography and I am currently on a 3 year photography study. When I have time I enjoy to watch a movie (Babette’s Feast is one of my favourites) or to read a good book - I love the book which is the biography of Van Goph’s life. Travelling has been a big passion in my life also. I have visited many of the European countries, lived in Canada been in the USA but one of the highlights of my travelling experiences was when I volunteered in Mozambique for 6 months. For the last 25 years I have lived with my wife who is a wonderful woman. She is an artist who makes amazing art and sculptures which have been exhibited throughout Iceland and in overseas countries. I am vegetarian and also have 2 dogs and 1 cat. I feel I am open minded person who loves to help others and to have a good laugh.
