This is a private resident and not part of the hotel. My Waikiki one bedroom penthouse is more than 40-floors above Honolulu with a wide 180 degree view, that overlooks some of the ocean coastline/mountain, and every structure within an eighth-mile.
This room has:
Two full-size beds,
A wall mounted 55 inch HDTV.
A closet with hangers,
A nightstand/with lamp.
A tall drawer for clothing in the closet.
Iron and ironing board,
The kitchen is modern, comfortably designed and is stocked with pots and pans, basic ingredients (rice, oil, etc…), spices, and utensils, all of which you are free to use.
The living room is large and fully furnished with one regular sofa, one sleeper sofa (pull-out bed), and a 42-inch LCD TV. There is also a full-side air mattress and a twin size mattress available if you need it for additional guest. There is a washer/dryer outside in the passageway of your door. There is also a laundry room is located on the 5th floor of the building (washer/dryer $1.50 each).
Both the living room and the dining room have a beautiful view of the mountains, Waikiki, and Downtown. The living room has a separate thermostat so the AC in the living room can be regulated separately from the AC in the bedroom. All the windows in the unit open, so you can take in the cool Hawaiian breeze that easily flows through a corner condo perched so high above the city (“so high above reality,” as former resident here once said).
A large recreation deck with grills and picnic tables for guest use gives you plenty of room to host outdoor gatherings. The building has a pool for resident and guest use.
The building is also a hotel, so telling any taxi driver or shuttle driver the hotel name will always have them knowing where to go.
Walking time to nearby attractions:
0 minutes / In the lobby: pizza pub ($1 drafts between 5pm and 6pm), sushi restaurant, convenience store, car and moped rentals, arcade, 24-hour vending machines
1 Minute: ABC (convenience) store, pharmacy, café, Ala Wai canal
3 Minutes: Another ABC store, café, lots of restaurants, bars, and lounges, Fort Derussy Park
5 Minutes: Free street parking, grocery store, Starbucks, fashionable clothing stores
10 minutes: Convention Center, Waikiki nightlife,
15 Minutes: Ala Moana Center, Hilton and Sheraton beachfront, Ala Moana Beach Park, bigger grocery store
Public Transit Options:
The bus stop on the same block has buses that go west, all the way to the airport terminal, as well as east toward Hanauma Bay.
Car rental agencies are within walking distance.
In-building parking is $20 per 24 hours or $4 per hour (Cash only).
Street parking is metered $4 per hour (free after 5:30pm and on weekends).
Very limited, but free and unmetered, street parking is within a 5 minute walk.
Once you arrive at the lobby area call me from the pay phone, or your cell phone. I will come down to meet you and take you up to the penthouse. I will give you the keys and any information you may need to know.
Pool and Jacuzzi are on the 5th floor (use your card key for access).
Interaction with Guests
Greet guest when they arrive and handle any problems they have while there.
Other Things to Note
Please be careful and take some extra time to adjust the shower until you are comfortable.
(1) This penthouse is a private resident with a full kitchen. Please respect my property and do not treat it like a hotel with room service (I am inviting you into my home).
(2) Please clean up after yourself. Do not leave your dirty dishes from last nights dinner on the table or in the sink.
(3) This is a private resident so do not leave keys at the front desk when checking out. Also these are not disposable hotel keys so please "DO NOT THROW AWAY". Each key cost me $20 to replace, so upon check out just leave the card key inside the room on the table.
(4) There will be no wild parties, or a place for friends to hang out and get drunk during the daytime or night time.
(5) There is no loud music and no loud noise after 10pm.
(6) There is No Smoking in the penthouse and No Smoking in the building.
(7) No drugs and No Smoking of Marijuana.
The view from the apartment was spectuacular! Full view of the mountains and the small canal next to it, as well as a bit of the ocean on one side. We loved looking out over Honolulu and waking up to watch the sunrise next to the mountains.
The apartment is nicely decorated and everything was clean, just as it is seen in the pictures. There are random things in the kitchen that were left and are free to use, but don't expect to find anything stocked for you (i.e. no coffee or tea, shampoo, etc).
It's a short walk to the beach and the north end of Waikiki, but you are not in the middle of everything, which can be good and bad. The Cream Pot restaurant in lobby was amazing - definitely hit this place for breakfast!
Thank you very much for your criticism. I apologize for the misunderstanding of your expectations of Hotel services. If you would have made those desires clear to me in any messages, I would have kindly suggested a hotel for you. I am thinking the four different kinds of shampoos behind the bathroom mirror were not the brand name you like? The kitchen had two different kinds of tea's (other than the India tea) and coffee, I assume they were not to your liking either? The Pool, Jacuzzi, and BBQ area were definitely mentioned in the airbnb description of the penthouse (if in fact you did read any of it). Also I am not sure how you could have missed the build-in ice dispenser on the refrigerator? Anyway, I did say in the description of the penthouse, "Please don't treat my place as if you are in a hotel". I have made some other added changes to the description of my penthouse to reflect your concerns, so other guest will not have the same misunderstandings of expectations of hotel services. I will add your name to the growing list of suggested items guest say I should provide (condoms, sanitary napkins, shaving razor, shower cap, etc). I am sure your next planed vacation to Hawaii in a hotel will be more prefect to your satisfaction.
We had a great time at Thomas' penthouse! It was spacious, and the description was accurate. The area is busy, so parking in the building was quite convenient. Great views too.
Thomas is helpful and reliable. Spacious place for 2 people with super view. Good if you want to do your own cooking. The reviews about the place are accurate, especially the shower. Walking to the beach is fine despite the location being a bit "gritty". The Cream Pot restaurant attached to the hotel is strangely great for your breakfast needs. The attached garage though expensive allows in and out privileges.
Thomas was a great host. My wife and her parents stayed at the condo. My wife's family is Japanese. They don't speak much English. Thomas organized a Japanese speaking friend to come over to help with the checkin process. This immediately eased the anxiety levels.
My in-laws were absolutely thrilled with the views from the condo. The place is bright and spacious, and has all the amenities one would expect.
Two thumbs up to the place!!!
A View that actually takes your breath away. There was no one among my friends who was not impressed. Thomas is so modest that he only claims 180°, but according to my calculation, it is really 270°.
Thomas is very friendly, generous, and quick to respond.
Highly recommendable for those who love Waikiki and cityscape.
Our stay in Honolulu was great. The apartment was as promoted and within a short walk to the major hotels. Thomas was there to meet us and although we were unable to locate him on departure.
I would book this accommodation again and have already recommended it to friends.
All the previous comments are confirmed however the shower was a problem and al though reported was not fixed. Travelling with an elderly person the chance of being scalded was a concern.
I staying here was one of the highlights of my 3 week trip to the islands of Hawaii. Although I had only stood a week, I had a marvelous time. Waking up to an iconic view of Honolulu. Seeing both the ocean and mountain range.
The penthouse was clean, cool and smelled wonderful. Walking distance to Waikiki 's beaches. Always a great place to dine out or a great place to dine in.
It was the most enjoyable place I stayed. Even better than the 4 star hotels I stayed at.

I first joined the U S Coast Guard in 1975 and after 20 years of search & rescue, and maritime law enforcement on the high seas, I retired in 1995. Following my retirement I attended Hawaii Pacific University for 3 years majoring in the field of Marine Biology. I then moved to Japan in 1999 and started teaching English for a private Japanese company. During my stay in Japan I got married to a Japanese lady and had a son (Kenneth). I applied for a position to work as a child care provider at Yokota U. S. Air Force Base in Japan, which I enjoyed very much for 4 years. As strangely as it sounds I was only married for 18 months and then divorce, I became a single parent living in Japan taking care of my 10 month old son. Not having any contact with my ex-wife, when my son turned 3 years old we moved to Hawaii in 2006. Now at the age of 60, I am a male single parent with a 11 year old son, enjoying every moment with him. Kenneth and I enjoy living in Waikiki and going to the beach, weekend BBQ's, and doing other fun activities.
