The Space


This is a private resident and not part of the hotel. Waikiki one bedroom penthouse, that is more than 40-floors above Honolulu, with a wide 180 degree view that overlooks the ocean and every structure within an eighth-mile.

This room has:
Two full-size beds,
A closet with hangers,
A nightstand,
A tall drawer for clothing,
Iron and ironing board,

The kitchen is modern, comfortably designed and is stocked with pots and pans, basic ingredients (rice, oil, etc…), spices, and utensils, all of which you are free to use.

The living room is large and fully furnished with one regular sofa, one sleeper sofa (pull-out bed), and a 42-inch LCD TV and the unit has a washer and dryer located in a separate room on the same floor, which is accessible to only you and the one neighboring unit.

Both the living room and the dining room have a beautiful view of the mountains, Waikiki, and Downtown. The living room has a separate thermostat so the AC in the living room can be regulated separately from the AC in the bedroom. All the windows in the unit open, so you can take in the cool Hawaiian breeze that easily flows through a corner condo perched so high above the city (“so high above reality,” as former resident here once said).

A large recreation deck with grills and picnic tables for guest use gives you plenty of room to host outdoor gatherings. The building has a pool for resident and guest use.

The building is also a hotel, so telling any taxi driver or shuttle driver the hotel name will always have them knowing where to go.

0 minutes / In the lobby: pizza pub ($1 drafts between 5pm and 6pm), sushi restaurant, convenience store, car and moped rentals, arcade, 24-hour vending machines
1 Minute: ABC (convenience) store, pharmacy, café, Ala Wai canal
3 Minutes: Another ABC store, café, lots of restaurants, bars, and lounges, Fort Derussy Park
5 Minutes: Free street parking, grocery store, Starbucks, fashionable clothing stores
10 minutes: Convention Center, Waikiki nightlife,
15 Minutes: Ala Moana Center, Hilton and Sheraton beachfront, Ala Moana Beach Park, bigger grocery store

Public Transit Options:

The bus stop on the same block has buses that go west, all the way to the airport terminal, as well as east toward Hanauma Bay.
Car rental agencies are within walking distance.

Parking Options:

In-building parking is $20 per 24 hours or $4 per hour (Cash only).
Street parking is metered $4 per hour (free after 5:30pm and on weekends).
Very limited, but free and unmetered, street parking is within a 5 minute walk.

Once you arrive at the lobby, I will greet you in the main lobby to take you up to the penthouse. I will give you the keys and any information you may need to know.

  • This is a glorious apartment high up in the sky, with a view from sunrise to sunset. The bed is comfortable (there are two, but we only used one), the bathroom is good quality, the living and dining space is generous and comfortable. The kitchen could do with slightly more in the way of equipment - numbers of plates and cutlery could be improved - but otherwise is great. The air conditioning is efficient and, thankfully, quiet!

    As others have mentioned, and Thomas highlighted early in showing us around, the shower alternates between hot and cold; this is not a problem as long as you set it to a level which you will not find uncomfortable at its hottest, as who is going to object to a cooler shower in Hawaii?!!

    Thomas is a cheerful and helpful host, supplying everything we asked for, quickly solving the few problems which arose, and sharing happy naval memories with my husband over a drink or two. We will most certainly book this apartment from him again!

  • Really great apartment at the top of Honolulu. Was a great place to stay while visiting in Waikiki. As mentioned by several other guests, the shower does have extreme temperature swings between hot and cold (as quick as every 10 seconds or so). Toilet paper supply was quite low upon arrival (6:00 pm), and wasn't refilled until past 12:00 the following day after a couple of message to Thomas. Otherwise had a great time. There was a snorkeling set in the bedroom closet which I made use of also.

  • Very nice place with the most awesome view ever! Truly a penthouse as you can view the entire Waikiki area, although no ocean view. Tom was very nice to greet and meet us and has a lot of experience, as he practically owns and rents the entire floor of the hotel! There was just one thing that I was a little disappointed, the fact that he cleans his own place after guests and not through a cleaning company. I understand that it can definitely save loads of money, as it can get expensive since he has so many bookings one after the other. But for clean freaks like me, the thought that this place isn't all that sanitized after another guest's stay before me kind of made me germ-a-phobic throughout the stay here. Although I'm sure Tom does an excellent job cleaning, it would still be much more assuring if someone professional did the job.

    I am very sorry for your germ-a-phobic. I did look into a professional company and they did not do a better job than me. The price they wanted would have put the rental price per night of the penthouse at $400 not including the airbnb fees you would have paid. My friends that work at The Hilton Hawaiian Village Hotel who do there Q&A say I am doing a great job and my place is better. I am wondering could it also be that you don't think a male could clean as good as a woman? I have had female guest come to my place and say I keep my place cleaner than there place. Give me some samples of what you thought was not cleaned or could be better?

    But I took two stars off for two reasons.
    First, I felt that the bed covers, pillow covers and towels seem quite old. Before this place, my family stayed another ocean-front house in Big Island which was kept by a professional cleaning lady. I felt like I am staying five stars hotel there. So I was more disappointed by the cleaning condition in this place. I am not sure if the host himself cleans the house or hires someone else, but the place would be much more valued if it is professionally maintained.
    Second, you need to insert card key each time you use elevator (which is fine). But the card key suddenly did not work on our last day. I could not use the elevator so went to the front dest. And they were not helpful at all. I had to make my brother come down and get me. If nobody was there to get me, I may had to call the host. But what if the host did not pick up the phone right away or was out to lunch or something?
    Nevertheless, the place has an amazing day/night views and it is walking-distance to Waikiki.

  • Our flight was delayed and we advised Thomas our new flight arrival time and an estimated arrival at the venue. He advised that all we needed to do was call. When we arrived just after 1am, we rang him twice and sent a SMS. He didnt respond to the phone calls for 2 hours and the SMS for 2.5 hours. With a screaming baby after a 10 hour flight that had been delayed for 18 hours we felt we had no option to seek alternative accommodation as we had no idea when he would get back to us. As with all "services" its not the experience when things go according to plan, but when things screw up that shows the real experience. Would not recommend

  • Great location, good price, and fantastic views.

    My wife and I stayed here, and loved it. It's location makes any spot in Waikiki walkable. The condo was quiet, had everything we needed, and had fantastic views of Honolulu and the green hills surrounding the city.

I retired from the U S Coast Guard after 20 years of search and rescue. I attended Hawaii Pacific University for 3 years majoring in the field of Marine Biology. I moved to Japan for 5 years and then returned to Hawaii. Strangely as it sounds, at the age of 59 years old, I am a male single parent with a 10 year old son (half Japanese). My son and I enjoy living in Waikiki and going to the beach.
