Joan is a wonderful host! She was so friendly and inviting and made our one year wedding anniversary extra special. When we came back from dinner she had a gift for us! We shared our one year old cake from or wedding with her and really enjoyed her warmth. Great location just 2 blocks from the beach and minutes from the town.
Joan was an extremely generous and welcoming host. Her home is lovely and a short walk from the beach. Joan is great with advice about Montauk and told us about a nice outdoor concert and had great recommendations for dinner. We had a private room with a really comfy bed and fresh bathroom towels. I highly recommend staying with Joan on your next trip to Montauk.
The host canceled this reservation 4 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Joan was a fantastic host and the accommodations were great. It's also in a awesome location with less than a 10 min walk to Ditch Plains...can't beat it.
We were welcomed with Joan's warm smile and generous hospitality. Our stay here provided us with the ultimate local Montauk experience, complete with wonderful stories and some of the best seafood we'd ever eaten. Walking distance from the beach, we started our day with a swim in the ocean. Although our stay was only a few days, we left rejuvenated and pleased with our vacation.
I had a wonderfully peaceful 2 days at Joan's house. It is so charming and has a beautiful deck and backyard. It's an easy walk to Ditch Plains Beach or a 15 minute bike ride into town. Joan is a kind and fun hostess. She knows all about Montauk, shares great stories and makes a fabulous dinner companion!
We had an amazing 3 days in Montauk with Joan's place being the perfect homebase to begin and end the days at. It's perfectly located for anything from relaxing at the (Ditch Plains) beach, hiking through Shadmoor State Park, heading north to the harbor, or venturing out east to Montauk Point.
We spent most of the long weekend on our rental bikes. Joan had made sure to find us a good deal for those. It's then an easy 20 minute ride from the center of town to her place.
Joan clearly devotes lots of love and care to the place, it has so much character and such a great vibe to it.
She was an amazing host to us, going way more than just the extra mile to make our stay as pleasant as can be. Whether that meant picking us up from the train, showing us around town, recommending places to visit, dropping us off for dinner, preparing refreshments and a cheeseboard, or taking us back to the train station; she made sure there was nothing left to wish for.
We had the great pleasure of her company for sunset dinner at the amazing Lobster Deck and drinks at the Montauket, two places we can not recommend highly enough. Unfortunately, the Lobster Deck seems to be in its last season — what a loss…
About the Host, Joan
Lover of sea and sand - commute between NJ and MTK . Grew up summers on family boat l respecting Ma Nature and her ocean. Learned to go with the rip and not panic in the sea and in life. Gave up snow skiing three years ago after a lifetime of winter joys. Skied off a 15 ft cliff and figured luck running out. Am a restless traveler visiting fellow airbnbers. Enjoy learning from guests and life. Me in a nutshell, but there's much much more.
