Cristina's (aka Beatriz's) villa is lovely and, as many others have noted, extremely convenient to the center of Barcelona. It was wonderful to be ensconced in what felt like a small mountain village (that included daily encounters with some friendly local wild boars on the 5 min. walk to the train station), and yet have just a 20 min. trip to Barri Gothic, Barceloneta and all the pleasures of our favorite neighborhoods. Cristina is very warm and friendly, and graciously welcomed our group with cake, muffins, fruit and coffee. She provided insider tips about restaurants and activities, made phone calls on our behalf, and offered practical suggestions about how to avoid lines at popular tourist sights. She also responded immediately when we had problems with the bathroom drain -- it was repaired the following morning. Two of the three upstairs bedrooms have french doors that open out onto the beautiful terrace overlooking the town. The downstairs bedroom is small and directly off the kitchen, but it does have a private bath. There is a large patio with ample outside space and a ping-pong table that helped keep the kids occupied. One key issue: if you are heading to the villa from the airport, either have Cristina arrange a taxi for you, or take the airport shuttle to Plaza Catalunya and get on the FGC train (which is right there in Catalunya) to the Les Planes station (just north of the city). The villa can be quite difficult to find by car -- most taxi drivers have no idea how to get there, so the fare can get quite high if they get lost! Overall, a wonderful place to stay and get the best of all worlds -- country and city! Many thanks, Cristina!
Lovely villa and beautiful views and surroundings. A perfect base while visiting Barcelona. Very easy to go by subway to the city; only 3 minutes walk to the station (Les Planes) and in 15 minutes by train you are in the middle of the city. Christina is very nice and helpful.
We would love to come back some day!
This is a great base for exploring Barcelona and Catalunya. In a leafy suburb, but a 20 minute subway ride from the city center. Ideal for a family with kids who have space to run around in the garden. Beatriz is a wonderful host who goes out of her way to make you feel welcome (for it included making a doctor appointment for my daughter and helping to set up a business meeting in Barcelona. Recommended!
the villa is the perfect place to stay while visiting Barcelona. Away from the busy city but only a 15 minute ride on metro. Very comfortable and spacious. We enjoyed the patios and terrace and of course the beautiful views. It is a great place to relax after spending the day (website hidden) keep in mind there are quite a few steps up to the villa but it is well worth the trip. We are 4 retired folks and we managed just fine. Our host Beatriz was very helpful in arranging taxis to pick us up from airport and also to take us to cruise ship after our stay. They were very prompt and reasonable.
We are a family of six scattered all over the world. We decided to meet for a week in Barcelona. This house was perfect for us.
The house is located in a beautiful area just outside of Barcelona. We loved the small village and coming back to a quite place.
The house is fully equipped, the back yard is lovely and we would recommend this place for families or groups of friends that wants to enjoy both worlds, the city of Barcelona 15 minutes away by train and the calm atmosphere of a local village. This was a great experience, we hope to come back in the future.
Our trip didn't start very well as there was some unfortunate misunderstandings with the host regarding what having extra people at the house would cost; however, eventually these were resolved successfully with the help of Airbnb.
It was nice staying at a regular home and the trains to Barcelona were frequent and didn't take long. However, if you like to party please note the trains run until midnight only, except on Fridays and Saturdays when they run until 2am. I would stress though that it really isn't so different from a regular house, as in don't expect anything super fancy; it's a bit worn down in places and there is a strange basement floor under the two main floors that had broken windows and a bolted out metal door. There is a ping pong table outside which was fun.
You are pretty much in the countryside when you go to the house, which is quite amazing considering how close to the centre of Barcelona you are. There were wild boars around which one of my friends was very excited about; she kept hoping we'd see them and one day we did! We didn't find any shops or restaurants in Les Planes itself but nearby Sant Jugat (sp?) which is about three stops on the train is really nice, has lovely cafes and a grocery store.
Overall I'd say I'm happy with our stay, but considering the ample and reasonably-priced accommodation opportunities in Barcelona, I'd say only stay here if you the price is right.
Wow! What an absolutely incredible experience, staying in Les Planes at Beatriz's fantastic house.
The views from the front door, terraces, and bedrooms are simply stunning. Do yourself a healthy favor, and spend a Sunday afternoon exploring the hills of Les Planes. Walk towards the village's peak, befriend roaming dogs, and have a beer in the uppermost restaurant. From la casa, the sunrises and sunsets will absolutely bedazzle you with their calming and invigorating energies.
Twenty minutes away, by way of the FGC, ride down into the heart of Barcelona, and eat at every authentically Catalan and Spanish bar possible. Have a few Voll Damms, and be thrilled that in the quiet of the night, you can head back to Les Planes, open up a bottle of cava, and relax into Catalonia's charms.
I cannot speak highly enough of Beatriz's offering of this house to travelers. Balancing the countryside with the city bears all the ingredients of perfect living.
Un blanco gato may pop up at the doorstep. Be sure to pet him lovingly, and stare deeply into his blue and yellow eyes.
My family of 4 stayed here for a week in November. Cristina was so nice and helpful and speaks very good English! She even arranged a taxi for us and she also left her phone number in case we needed anything. The house has central heating, wifi internet, cable TV, a DVD player, and is just so clean and beautiful! The photos are just how it looks in real life. The train station is very close to walk to which makes getting into the city super easy. We loved the house and all it has to offer. There are beautiful views and the furniture is very nice (beds are super comfortable too!). I love how Cristina has decorated the house! It is a mix of old and modern. Very Chic!!! Plus, she left us soap, and some food and drinks, and there were guide books, maps, and lots of pillows and blankets which made our stay so easy and comfortable. This area seems rural and you have a garden (and roosters crowing in the morning) and yet you are just next to all the city has to offer! There are large grocery stores in Sant Cugat (just a couple of train stops away) and we brought some big Ikea bags with us so when we needed food and drinks, bringing it back was easy. Sant Cugat also has many shops and restaurants. Overall, we loved this place and our host! I would stay in this house again for sure!!!
