Maine Coast Ocean View Room w/Bath

House - Private room · Evergreen Avenue, Harpswell, ME 04079, United States

The Space

This comfortable bedroom features a view onto the harbor in a quiet seaside neighborhood. Perfect for 1-2 guests with access to a private bathroom included. Quintessential Maine location in a working fishing village within walking distance of public shorelines, docks, boat access, and a restaurant.

Guests have access to a private bathroom adjacent to the room. Room includes queen bed, full sized closet, dresser, and mini fridge with snacks and drinks. Free wifi. Flat screen TV in room with Netflix, Hulu, and iPod connecting cord. Light continental breakfast included.

We make every effort to be at home at guest arrival. If we cannot be there, we'll let you know (with instructions on entering the house). This is a casual place so you are free to come and go from the house as you please!

This is the Maine coast at its best! From here, you can watch lobster boats come in and out of the harbor, witness amazing sunsets, and take walks or swim along the public shoreline. If you have kayaks, bring them along for a paddle. Our quiet neighborhood is at the end of the peninsula and has a mix of year round and seasonal residents. There is an small but active fishing wharf just across the street. Old homes dot the coastline and access to a preserved shoreline is just a short walk away. Fresh seafood (and other types of meals) can be had at several nearby eateries. Beautiful area for photographers, nature lovers, or first timers to the Maine coast!

There is no public transit in Harpswell, but the Amtrak Downeaster runs to nearby Brunswick. There are car rentals in Brunswick and Portland. If you are a Zipcar member, Bowdoin College in Brunswick has a few Zipcars parked on campus. We recommend having access to a car if you visit Harpswell or any towns along the Maine coast outside of Portland.

Sightseeing cruises are available from nearby Orrs Island or at the Dolphin Marina, which is across the harbor from us and a short drive or bike ride away.

  • Alyce and Andrew are a nice young couple. Coming from Germany we were very glad to live not in an anonymous hotel but had the chance to speak with so interesting people. The breakfast and bed was wonderful and they both helped us in every way.

  • Great space, great place, great people!! Can't go wrong here. Relaxing, close to Portland and Bath ME. Lots of things to do; or do's all here.

  • We had a great stay at Alyce and Andrew's house. The location is incredible so close to the sea and the house itself is warm and welcoming. For breakfast , Alyce made us incredible blueberry scones. They also gave us some tips for dinner. We wish we could have stay more than one day and we definitely recommend their house!

  • Alyce and Andrew are kind and hospitable folk. Their home is beautiful and ideally situated toward the end of the Harpswell Peninsula. The view from their porch and the bedroom window is stunning, calming and rejuvenating. The room itself is clean, cozy and a perfect haven to catch up on much needed rest. Alyce recommended us places to eat and check out in addition to making us breakfast in the morning :) . All in all, this was the perfect home away from home. I would go back anytime!

  • We had a perfect stay in Alyce and Andrew's seaside home. They were flexible and accommodating when our arrival time changed. The natural skin care products in the bathroom were lovely! We were able to explore their beautiful coast on our bikes for a bit before taking off to Acadia. Thanks Alyce and Andrew!

  • What a wonderful couple! We had such a great time with Alyce and Andrew. They have a beautiful home, the bed is super comfortable, (I slept for 10 hours!) The room nice and clean. We walked down to the local restaurant for seafood, then enjoyed the sunset from their porch with the nice bottle of beer they had waiting for us in the fridge along with some snacks. When we awoke the next morning Alyce made us a wonderful coffee cake. I would highly recommend staying with them. Thanks again!

Ps: Tami is so excited she found a jar of the blueberry ginger jam to take home!

Hooray! So awesome to meet you guys and hope to catch you in the air sometime!

  • The view from the bedroom is not just an 'Ocean View', it is an incredibly picturesque view with nothing between you and the water but a few hundred yards, a small dock and lobster shack. Alyce & Andrew are gracious hosts and generously gave us breakfast and use of their kitchen and grill. Great place for a relaxed, low-key, weekend away.

Thanks Sarah! So glad you all could make it up and come back any time!

  • Alyce & Andrew were very welcoming and the room was clean and comfortable. They made me feel welcome but also gave me a lot of privacy. My only regret was the short amount of time I was able to spent in Harpswell it was beautiful!! If I ever go back I will definitely let them know;-)

Thanks Sara! Lovely to meet you and come back again any time!

  • I've rented my place on Airbnb, but actually never used the services for my own trips. I have normally used (website hidden), (website hidden), etc., and rented an entire space. However, in our brief stay to the Portland, ME area, we stayed with Andrew and Alyce. These are two of the most genuine and kind people we've met. They've encouraged me to stay with people to enrich our experiences. Although, I'm not sure if we'll run into the same caliber of people, I think the benefit one can gain far outweighs those less than perfect hosts.

We received sparkling water, almonds and sesame sticks (which we instantly devoured) on our arrival. The next morning, we had biscuits, yogurt and great coffee. We had a great time and I can honestly say it has changed my traveling experience from here on out. Thanks Andrew and Alyce.

Having lived in Maine for almost a decade, I can recommend lots of great off-the-beaten path places to check out during your stay. My husband Andrew and I have enjoyed living in South Harpswell for the past four years. We love meeting new people. Andrew is originally from northern New Hampshire, but has lived in NYC and Asheville, NC. I'm from southern Ohio/northern Kentucky, and lived in Chicago for six years before moving to Maine. We divide our time between many creative pursuits and jobs. I work part time at a community art center in Brunswick, make documentary media, and have a small home-based business called aucocisco naturals. Andrew works on media projects with me, and does freelance consulting work dealing with civic technology and community planning. We have three well-loved cats and some pet fish.
