I didn't actually meet May, but we had very nice contact over the email/text. I did meet her lovely cleaninglady, who opened the door for us.
The apartment is very pretty and very clean. Also, you don't here a lot of the neighbors, so you can sleep very well. The neighborhood is very cool, it's close to the centre and they have a good bakery across the street!
- Great neighborhood
- Nicely decorated apartment
- The only weakness is the narrow stairs. But for young adults should not be a serious problem.
Loved the Apartment. May was very on top of it, nice and helpful. She met us at the apartment and was super-friendly and responsive to our questions. She directed us toward a fantastic cheese shop, and she even researched and then e-mailed us great Indonesian restaurant suggestions when we inquired. The apartment is lovely: clean, chic, and filled with light—with a separate bedroom off of the main living/dining/kitchen space. The bedroom was small but the mattress was comfortable. Our main feeling was that we loved the location. On a map it looked like a little bit out of the center and I was a tiny bit worried because I didn't know Amsterdam (yet). In fact it was perfect for us. Even in March, Amsterdam can be overrun by tourists, and whenever we were in the center of the city, we were grateful that we were living away from the tourist crowd. However, getting into the center of the city from May's apartment was extremely easy. Everything a tourist would want to do is a totally manageable walk, but if you don't feel like walking, four tram lines going in two different directions were within steps of her front door. Trams run very frequently, and I don't think it ever took us more than 15 minutes to get anywhere we wanted to go. And then we came back to our little oasis that felt like it was in the "real" Amsterdam with little ethnic restaurants and local stores and people biking to work. It was ideal and if we go back to Amsterdam (which we really want to do; it's a fantastic city), we would definitely try to stay at May's apartment again. Thank you, May!
The flat was very central, new and clean. May was a great host providing specific directions on how to find the flat straight from the airport. A week before my trip she sent me a list of all attractions and places to visit or eat. I'd definitely recommend it if you are looking for a place to stay in Amsterdam.
We stayed at May's apartment for four nights and had a great time. The apartment itself is cozy, beautifully decorated and well equipped. Before and during our arrival all contact with May was easily done and we got quick responses! The location was perfect for us as we enjoyed the walking distance from Leidseplein and Vondelpark (both about 15 minutes walking). There are many cafes, restaurants and stores around the neighborhood which was lovely. Overall, highly recommended and we would gladly come back when in Amsterdam again!

I'm May, 28 years old and from a small place near Amsterdam. I am enjoying Amsterdam for almost 10 years now and discovering new and exciting places every time again.
Of course travelling is one of my most favourite things, but not doing it as often as I want to. On my travel wish list is: Mexico, Nicaragua & Costa Rica.
When visiting Amsterdam in my small getaway, I will make sure you will get everything out of your free days! From breakfast, brunch, dinner tips, to must visit bars & clubs in town. I also have a bigger 2 floor apartment available now, right in one of the best neighborhoods in town!
