Interaction with Guests
They are very friendly with the guests, it is of course because I feel excited because they know them in and make them feel at home right away!
The next morning ... between 08 and 10, some cute, open windows and blinds down halfway ... feel the birds chirping! One wonders, but we are in the heart of downtown Naples? Yes! From 10 in the morning then flows hectic in the neighborhood: passing the fishmonger with his cart screaming its fresh fish; Ms. Teresa Alley calls out to her friend and this Mariuccia answers quickly, and the blacksmith working, the comings and goings of scooters and delivery charges, pizzas and coffee ..... Ah! What addore 'and cafe (which smell of coffee)! ...
The area is already in the center and is well served by the higher areas of the city (funiculars, metro, bus) 500 meters walk from the house. The port is about 700 mt. walk from the apartment, and the train station is accessible by subway or bus in 20 minutes.
Other Things to Note
The Spanish Quarter are narrow streets that go up and meet each artisan shops, large shoals of fresh fruits and vegetables, the smell of freshly baked bread sfortanato along with other fragrant delights ... between these pathways meet vendotori of freshly caught fish and meat butchers with typical Neapolitan .. in a few words is almost all close!
The entrance to the house is shared with another apartment. So it is convenient to observe the switching off of light input and the use of heating. In particular, you should never leave it on when you are away from home. At home the switching times are in the morning from 07 to 09; afternoon from (phone number hidden) and in the evening they usually turn on the tenants below from (phone number hidden).
Thanks for your cooperation
Maria was a gracious host, providing us with delicious fresh fruit and bread and some suggestions for places to eat. This studio apartment, though small, has a very large patio with outdoor seating and then another patio with killer views on the room.
This place is in the Spanish Quarter of Naples, walking distance to everything (waterfront) and easy access to the Metro underground. My son and I became adept at getting around, taking the metro to the Central Station, then trains to Pompeii, etc. Walking down to the Mediterranean waterfront every evening was the highlight. On Sunday evenings, the whole city shows up, but other nights, the roads are closed off and people congregate and walk and eat. Every meal we had was delicious, so in general, Napoli gives you Italian cooking at its best.
The Spanish Quarter can be noisy in the evening and sounds reverberate, but once everyone goes to sleep, you could hear a pin drop outside. In some ways Napoli's Spanish Quarter embodies the spirit of Southern Italy.
You will get your cardio walking up the cobble-stone streets and the 4+ flights of stairs!
Maria provided us with a lovely place to stay, and even had fresh fruit, bread, and juice to welcome us! She also gave us great directions, explained the room fully, and pointed us towards great spots in the neighborhood. The view from the patio/roof is amazing, and the neighborhood was a wonderful spot--off of the busy downtown streets, but not too far from the metro station.
Maria's place really is fantastic, the view is just wonderful! Worth every step up to see it, and having breakfast surveying Napoli like that is a really good experience. The apartment is basic but comfortable with everything you need for your stay.
As for Maria, she is a wonderful host and goes to great pains to explain the apartment to you when you arrive, down to the last light switch! She goes out of her way to make sure you have as good a stay as possible. Another indication of Maria's character is the way local people speak about her in the neighbourhood. On numerous occasions we met people who knew from the look of us we probably were staying with Maria, and they were always wanting to help us with whatever we happened to need at the time. From directions to the apartment to the local shop lady offering to get a good breakfast in the morning!
For a feeling of living as a local as possible when I'm Napoli stay here with Maria and her fantastic apartment, we are going to when we visit Napoli again!
