The Space

Home with full separate bath about 10-15 minutes from all the action in Charleston. Close to the convergence of I-526, Hwy 7 and Hwy 17 in Charleston's West Ashley section. Less than 15 minutes from Charleston International Airport. The space with private bath is on the second floor of the home so you will have privacy and not be disturbed and do not have to concern yourself with disturbing others. Comfortable room; comfortable queen size bed with "Down Alternative" topper. We have free wifi. No cleaning fee.

Coffee, bagels with cream cheese, yogurt, orange juice and cereal in the morning. Close to many terrific restaurants!

Charleston was voted for the third consecutive year, "Top City in the U.S." in the 2013 Condé Nast Traveler Readers' Choice Awards, based on six categories: Atmosphere & Ambiance, Culture & Sites, Friendliness, Lodging, Restaurants and Shopping.

Interaction with Guests

It is really up to the guests and our schedules. I think it is important to give guests their space and not to be too intrusive. But if you feel like some conversation.....

The Neighborhood

Great neighborhood dock and the West Ashley Greenway is nearby for walking or running.

Getting around

It is best to get around the Charleston area by car.

Other Things to Note

We have some very good restaurants near by in West Ashley such as The Glass Onion, The Green Goat, Olympic, The Blue Rose, Early Bird Diner and many more downtown which is a 10-15 minute drive.

  • My husband and I were road tripping along the coast and needed a place to stay for a night in Charleston. Jim was a wonderful host with a beautiful and clean house. He was generous and kind. He is very knowledgeable about the area and will make you feel right at home. The peaceful neighborhood is only minutes from downtown Charleston so it's ideal for visiting the area's many destinations.

  • We enjoyed our stay with Jim in Charleston. Jim is an entertaining and engaging host. His house was clean and comfortable. He provided maps and ideas of where we could eat and sight see. He lives in a quiet neighborhood convienient to downtown, with plenty of shopping nearby. He also has a great dog. We will look him up again if we need to go back to Charleston.

  • We stayed 4 nights at Jim's and found him to be a very friendly and excellent host.
He went out of his way to make sure we had Charleston maps, literature and lots of breakfast food!
His house is in a nice neighborhood and we had the upstairs to ourselves with our own bed and bath. Furnishings were up to date and clean.
We also enjoyed his very mild mannered dog, Susy.

  • Jim is a most engaging and accommodating host. From the cheerful greeting each time my husband and I entered his home to his educated answers to our travel questions, he was most attentive to our needs. The bedroom was very nice and the house was in a very quiet neighborhood, yet an easy short drive to downtown Charleston. Watching the birds and squirrels in his nicely landscaped backyard while listening to the large water fountain in the adjacent lot made sitting on the screened-in porch most relaxing. Jim set up the coffee pot the night before and had breakfast choices of cereal, oatmeal, fruit, juice, bagels, raisin bread and cream cheese. Jim’s house is a highly recommended lodging choice for restful evenings to accompany any visit to Charleston.
