If your business brings you to the Stanford area, you will love this little pied-a-terre just steps from the campus. Walk to the Quad -- or to the football stadium -- in about 20 minutes, ride a bike in less than 10, or jump on Stanford's free shuttle (the Marguerite) a couple of blocks from the house. The medical school is two miles away. 101 and 280 are both equally convenient from this central location.
This two-room (plus full bath), completely private unit has its own entry at the front of the property. You are totally self-contained here, with a full kitchenette that has everything you need to cook – fridge, gas stove with oven, microwave, and even a garbage disposal and dishwasher! Plus an instant hot-water tap that delivers near-boiling water so you can make coffee, tea, or soup any time you want. A complete set of basic cookware and dinnerware is also provided. On the other hand, if you prefer to dine out, there are at least two dozen eating establishments of all kinds within a 10 minute walk in the nearby California Avenue shopping district.
The bedroom has a double bed and a skylight that you can close if you want it dark in the day. The living room/kitchenette has lots of light, with a big skylight, raised ceiling, and a bay window that has real wood slat blinds. The living room nook has a loveseat and coffee table. The living room area has modern ecological cork flooring, and the bedroom has lovely oak. The two rooms can be closed off from each other so one person can work and one can sleep.
The whole place was remodeled and painted in 2012 and is very well insulated, with double-paned windows throughout and both heating and air conditioning.
All this AND a washer and dryer right there in the apartment! Free internet, too!
Our pleasant neighborhood, Evergreen Park, has a walk score of 87 (from the website of the same name -- airbnb doesn't allow websites in ads) and is called the “third most walkable neighborhood in Palo Alto.” It’s just a short walk to grocery stores, coffee houses, restaurants, and public transportation, including the California Avenue CalTrain station. There’s even a Starbucks right on the corner if you’d rather buy that cup of coffee than make it in the apartment. California Avenue is four blocks away and has a great farmer’s market every Sunday.
All in all, a location as close as the nearest hotels to Stanford, with more amenities and at about half the price!
Awesome apt close to lots of restaurants. Very clean, private and comfortable. Susan and Mike are very friendly and accommodating. Rent a bike from the shop across the street, and explore the area, there are bike lanes/paths everywhere.
This was a great place to stay! Susan and Mike are very nice and accommodating hosts. The apartment was private and had everything I needed for a home away from home. It's also very centrally located.
This is a great place for a stay in Palo Alto. It is a sunny, quite, comfortable spot. It is just off Stanford campus, walking distance to grocery stores and places to eat on California Ave., and walking distance to the Caltrain Station. The apartment is clean and looks/feels new. Susan & MIke were very accommodating hosts. The apartment had everything I needed for a two week stay.
This is the final rate, including any fees from the host and Airbnb.
