Mark was perfect host-wish we had spent more time with him. We were out most of time in Manhattan and really only came back for bed. We came to NYC as an end of school trip (mother and daughter) and loved it.
Got a bit confused with directions at first, but once we had our bearings..all good. It was really nice to be able to leave the hustle and bustle of Manhattan to come back to somewhere that felt like home. Very friendly community and lovely neighbours. Would happily live here..very pretty, safe and welcoming. Train to Manhattan took a bit longer than expected so once out...we felt we had to stay out.
Nothing to do with Mark, but if first time visitors-make sure you get Subway sorted. We got lost a couple of times ...stick to A and C trains.....nothing else!!!!! In saying (email hidden)e times we got lost we were helped by lots of people only too willing offer their services.
Having spoken to friends who have visited NYC, no point in staying in expensive hotel as you're out most of time. I loved mark's place and enjoyed seeing another side to new York..(the subway an alternative form of entertainment each night!)
We bought N.Y city pass and saved a lot of money-also buy subway 7 day pass for $30 (very good if you get lost and have to hop on and off subways for a very long time.....) Still recovering and would recommend marks place 100%
Everything went smoothly with Mark. He's a great host, his communications have been usefull and his responses were quick. Il parle un très bon français.
The appartment was as described, 7 minutes from the subway, near a park.
This was our first Airbnb experience, and it was a great one! Since Mark was on vacation, his mom checked us in, and she kindly let us drop off our bags early so we could explore the city. We loved the set up of the apartment--it was nice to have a separate living room area and a decent-sized kitchen. The bed and pillows are amazingly comfy. The kitchen was stocked with dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and basic ingredients (salt, pepper, spices, oil)--I love to cook, and it was great to have everything that I needed, plus a dishwasher!
The only downside is that there isn't a full grocery store or much in the way of restaurants nearby, but it the apartment is very close to the subway so it was easy for us to get to Manhattan and other parts of Brooklyn.
I would definitely recommend this listing!
We found the parlor floor apartment as described on the internet; neat and spacious. One thing though; in the description washer and dryer are mentioned as accessible - they were not; we looked long and hard and never found them. The neighborhood is quiet with friendly and polite people. It took only 5 minutes to walk to the A line subway followed by a ride that took approx. 20 minutes - and then we (email hidden). on Manhattan. We really enjoyed our stay in Mark's apartment.
